Saw them live last night. Proper talent, proper artists. Simon and Angie make difficult stuff look easy. And Sophie on keyboards understands them perfectly. 👍👍👍
Frente!! The first exclamation mark was part of their name. The second is because I’m just excited! Sometimes they were also spelt with a lower-case f. It’s that kind of adorable modesty that made them rather magical. And they were never more magical than on this tune, “Labour Of Love.” For many Australian girls of a certain temperament and a certain age, Angie Hart is a style icon. You can’t tell from the video - since it’s in black and white - but you can feel sure that whatever she is wearing the colours are bright and she bought it at a vintage store. At the time it felt that “Labour Of Love”s biggest accomplishment was bringing the sound of a school recorder solo onto alternative radio; amongst all the distorted guitar and the Sonic Youth feedback noise. But it also built an aesthetic that would be seen throughout a lot of Aussie pop of the next couple of decades; pop both of the indie variety (eg. Architecture in Helsinki) and very much not (eg. Merril Bainbridge’s “Mouth”)! “Labour Of Love” is a 9.
This is such a timeless, beautiful song. This video looks to be edited differently than the one that I've seen other versions of on youtube recently. Were there different edits? Was there a different version for US versus Australia, maybe? Either way, love the song and the video!
Why can't people be cool. I'm looking for community. If a person doesn't want to connect, fine. No hard feelings. Can't afford it, it's no big deal. Can't help but think it's the same old thing no matter where I go. Oh well. I'll just be me.
I haven’t had an original thought in years. So this is underrated.
I remember *precisely* where I was when I first heard this song in the summer of 1994. Powerful, powerful memory 🤔
❣️ I've forever been in love with this band. I was 14 confused, misunderstood, but Frente understood me!!!!! Always
i know ! something you really deeply touch you! spent days listening to all this with friends!
Same girl 😊❤
Listened to this entire album while my friend and I were navigating around a mudslide in Yosemite CA in 1995.
Oh. My. God.
I loved this song with my entire soul. I am so thankful I kept this single with my high-school yearbook
Amazing song from an amazing band of the 90's 🙌🇧🇷
Still love❤, march 2024
Such an underated band. This is one of the best albums of the 90s
Marvin the Album is such a banger, you don't have to skip a song, so solid.
Saw them at a music festival in Cleveland in the 90s... I was totally lost in her beautiful voice. Such catchy songs.
Whoa, seriously? I’m a clevelander, listening because I remember being obsessed with the CD as a kid.

So glad others are really passionate about this song too! Should have been the biggest hit of that year
Such a 90's alternative radio hit classic.
I'm always playing that songg - my guitar and friends - around a firecamp !! That song always put a good vibe to party.

I have never crushed so hard on a girl, it was like a Siren Song, head over heals... That is power!
They had such a great first album. Their second album wasn't as good.
