  • First and foremost, please don't confuse the term "percentile" with the term "percentage" and secondly, it's important to understand that percentiles come in handy when other methods of understanding data are sub-optimal.
    Today, I've defined as well as explained percentiles (also called deciles, although some prefer the term "percentile rank" or variations thereof), deciles and quartiles.
    Like with all things statistics-related, it might seem hard to wrap your head around percentiles initially but if the percentile rank concept is explained properly, you'll end up realizing that percentiles, deciles and quartiles are important tools to have in your arsenal.
    Moreover, you will no longer give people a blank stare whenever they analyze data using percentiles and, on the contrary, will be able to extract a ton of value from that conversation... why not, even contribute to it!

      I apologize, I sometimes get carried away and it's become a bit of a meme around here that for some of my videos, RUclips's playback speed reduction feature is a life-saver :D

    I got it easily. This channel's vid is supposed to be short so if u guys want it slower, you can adjust the speed. It's there for a reason.

    0:58 why is 91 said to be IN the 80 percentile while also being AT the 80th percentile

    • @OneMinuteEconomics
      @OneMinuteEconomics  11 месяцев назад

      Please note that 91 is the only one AT the 80th percentile, because 80% of the test scores are below it. On the other hand, we say that 91 as well as the scores lower than it are IN the 80th percentile, with 98 being the only one that isn't.

      this did not clear anything up. WHY is it in both AT the 80 percentile and IN the 80th percentile?your reasoning is the same as the video, which is also unclear. could you clear it up?@@OneMinuteEconomics
