  • Nursery rhymes & lullabies seem to be full of fluffy language and childhood innocence. In reality, many of them were never intended for consumption by children. They tell the story behind some of the bleakest, darkest and most brutal events in history. In this video we pick out some firm, family favourites to look at the dark truth behind them.
We look at Rock a bye baby and ask why was the baby in the tree top?
We look at Goosey Goosey Gander and ask why an old man was thrown down the stairs?
    We look
We look at Mary Mary Quite Contrary and ask what was really growing in her garden?
We look at Humpty Dumpty and find out how he fell of his wall?
We look at Ring a ring a rosies and find out why we all fall down
And we look at Little Jack Horner who sat in a corner and find out what the plumb really was.
This video is written, presented and published by Welsh author and historian; Graham Loveluck-Edwards. He even played all the music in it!
Graham is the uthor of the best selling 'Legends and Folklore of Bridgend and the Vale' series of books. Other titles include 'Historic Pubs of Wales' and 'Monica'. They are published by Candy Jar Books LTD (Cardiff).
Graham also writes columns for the Glamorgan Star newspaper, the Buddy magazine and hosts the 'History On Your Doorstep' Radio show on Bro Radio FM.
In these short videos, he examines some of our stranger histories. I hope you enjoy them. And if you do, please subscribe to this channel and share them on social media.
