TL is on the precipice of pulling off the NA golden road.
    1) Win Spring
    2) Beat an EU team
    3) Lose to T1 in respectable fashion
    3) Beat an EU team again
    4) Lose to T1 again in respectable fashion
    5) Win Summer
    6) Make it out of groups

@@jamesmunn576 i think if this team has a meta that continues to favor it, and they can KEEP UMPTI reigned in (im not saying he's bad, because usually him or impact are carrying their games lowkey, he's just got a very high risk high reward playstyle) they have a real shot of making it pretty far in worlds this year. im not saying theyll win it all, or they can take a BO5 vs someone like an in form T1 or GenG (i honestly hope they dont choke this year again and they complete THEIR golden road) but theyll put on a performance that will give NA fans some hope that we DO still have the pieces to compete internationally.
yeon and apa have improved by absolute leaps and bounds and spawn has been a miracle worker as a head coach.

Game 3 of C9 they don’t ban Aurora. So you’d think they’d pick it, but instead they pick Yone mid to make sure that TL can just build armor for the win. With Aurora or any AP champ mid lane, game would have been way different.

C9 is still playing the exact same game they played with Fudge. Was Fudge the problem? Maybe a little, but the bigger problem is how poorly they play the macro game. They play so safe and conservatively, never putting themselves in positions that are difficult for the enemy to respond to and question whether they are good enough to make the right decision. C9 still has no fucking clue how to play side lanes and overly rely on ARAM strats to win games based on the fact that they are better as individuals than their opponents. Insane that a roster with this much talent is so uninspiring to watch when they could be far and away the best in the league if they ever made any progress as a team.
Small taste of what's wrong with C9 is in game 1 (5th drag) when C9 gets their 3rd drag, they all group as 5 and run to dragon and take it together as a team. Doesn't sound that bad right? BUT they have full vision of where Umti is, he clearly walks away, they see 2 pushing mid on vision and know 1 is dead. Yet they continue as 5 (renekton doesn't hit it, but he wastes his time making his way over) to drag to take it together. This is HORRIBLE allocation of their resources on the map. As soon as they see Umti walking away, Thanatos should be backing to push top, Jojo should be walking bot as he hits the dragon, and Vulcan should start backing before the drag dies to hold the mid wave. After drag, Berserker and Blaber should back, and move towards mid to catch the wave. Thanatos and Jojo would then need to re-evaluate what they should be doing on the map. It's important that Jojo should be the one to catch bot and Thanatos top so that when TL shoves mid Jojo is there instead of Thanatos as Renekton can't do anything mid unless a fight breaks out.
An alternative, which I believe most LCK/LPL teams would opt for is to contest mid wave AND take dragon -> set up vision topside -> reallocate into side lines -> regroup and evaluate the map again. The main takeaway here is that C9 neglects their wave control for free and fails fundamental macro concepts consistently.

i think c9 play more to "not lose" in most games, than to actually win. their macro is appaling compared to someone like TL, who are lowkey world caliber atm (im not saying like, top 10, but certainly in like. 12/13th, which is WAY better than most seasons for NA)
i dont think fudge was *the* problem, but part of, as you said, an underlying problem theyre continually having with macro. they kinda just hands diff NA teams atm, which wont work vs better teams. id actually consider them....the FNC of the lcs. 2nd or 3rd best for sure, but the gap between them and the top team is a fucking chasm atm because they play sidelanes so much better than c9.
thanatos is REALLY good at lane phase from what ive seen. but he's still having a lot of problems with communication and working with the team during teamfights/vision setups for dragon/barons.
this should honestly have been a super easy TL 2-0, but props to c9 for at least knowing how to close out a game based on a single mistake. they just need to basically....re-learn how to sidelane.

Fudge definitely not, he was content to go even and do nothing every game (if he lost that mentality and was more like Impact/Bwipo he would be a definite upgrade over Thanatos). Emenes was pretty good, but he was overshadowed by Berserker/Zven much of the time, whereas Jojo has been dragging Berserker/Vulcan to victory half the games this year, particularly spring. Also Emenes was overshadowed by Jojo even being on separate teams. Its pure lunacy to think with downgrading back to fudge and at best sidegrading to emenes that this team could even step up to TL.
It is such a fanboy opinion that the 'problem' with current C9 is that they have the wrong players. They have the best or second best player in every position (at least by the stats, and most by player sentiment). The 'problem' with this roster is they are lacking synergy and macro, not that Thanatos is actually trying to contribute to the team or that Jojo is performing without being toxic to his teammates. Even with them lacking in team coordination and map play, they still are 2nd in LCS. The roster you described would be lucky to take a single game off current TL. Fudge and Emenes dont magically bring back the teams coordination, if anything Zven, as described by Blaber and Berserker, was a huge part of their shotcalling.

the definition of “defeat” in this league is not on a game but a series of bo3. So, getting one game does not automatically mean a win, vice versa. That’s why both teams had 0s on their loss count, properly describable as undefeated.
Hope this helps on your confusion so that all world do not look like idiot except you, while probably the opposite was the case 😂😂

    • @mwbwyatt
      @mwbwyatt 2 месяца назад

this is how undefeated works in any league with best of 3s. if you win the series, you didnt lose. GenG , is still i believe..series-wise, undefeated. have they lost games? technically yeah. xD but never the series. 15-0 atm i think?
