@@elgee6202 The entire event lacked precedence, Denmark hasn't seen a monarch abdicate in almost 900 years. Before her statement there was a bit of confusion between Frederik and Margrethe as well when she stood up and offered him her chair, he at first seemed to think she was saying goodbye and just gave a slight bow before she again offered it and he sat down. I think maybe he was expecting her to walk out before he sat down and wanted to respect her by standing up until she was out of the room. Frederik was obviously focused on now having to sign the papers and start his reign after he sat down and wasn't fully aware of what Margrethe was about to do, you can see that it takes a moment to register that she said what she said and that she was leaving the room before his signature cemented his accession to the throne. The new Crown Prince had a better vantage point and also looked a bit surprised at his grandmothers actions, so we can reasonably assume it wasn't set it stone how the meeting would progress and that she would proclaim this and walk out.
Not correct!! Mary is now Queen Mary ( Dronning Mary ). And Margrethe is still Queen Margrethe ( Dronning Margrethe ). Just because they (you?) do it differently in other countries, does not change the fact, that in Danmark we do not use the "consort" thing for Dronning Mary!! Just like we, when Margrethe became Queen in 1972, STILL called her mother Dronning Ingrid. Until the day she died in the year 2.000!
