I disagree with the assertion that Russia is currently winning. The Russian economy is slowly decaying; that factor is bigger than the tiny exchanges of territory happening on the battlefield. Regarding staying-power, Ukraine can continue to yield small fields and occasional tree-lines longer than Russia can continue within a sanctioned economy. If Trump rescinds sanctions, he will be grabbing defeat (for Ukraine) from the jaws of victory. There is no “America first” justification for lifting sanctions.
Ian's phoning it in again, for clicks. He is bettering his economic situation, by not saying anything new, not giving any real insights that aren't in yesterday's NYT. How cynical. These posts should be go right into the spam bin.
It's pure fantasy. Putin stated his conditions for even starting negotiations on the basis of Istanbul quite clearly. 1. Full Ukrainian withdrawal from the regions that are included in Russian constitution; 2. Recognition and acceptance from Ukraine that these regions are Russian; 3. Acceptance of Ukraine's neutral status. Istanbul also included restrictions on Ukrainian army armaments and a number of personnel. Russians categorically rejected any freeze of the conflict Korea-style. These conditions can get only tougher by the time. Even Trump wouldn't be able to accept these conditions explicitly without a coup attempt against him, but he could do it implicitly by cutting Ukraine's sustenance and turning the page.
You don't understand trump. By mid January he will end sanctions & stop aid. He has said this. And it's WILDLY ridiculous to think he'll face ANY kind of Coup over Ukraine. His right wing media is ALREADY laying the anti Ukraine narrative, ie Joe Rogan & lesser propaganda outlets for the Trumputin narrative... It's all happening in plain sight...
Problematic assumptions. Donald Trump has a unique capacity to redefine the dominant narrative of the Ukraine War. Once and if he succeeds in breaking the neocon hegemony on how this war is presented to the American public, once previously dissident voices become part of the mainstream discussion, Trump will be in perfect position to establish peace and achieve a breakthrough in US-Russian normalization.
If USA wants to abandon Ukraine and Eastern Europe to the Russian, game is over for USA a worlds power and the dollar as world exchange currency. How the maga bunch is thinking can US thus fund his huge national debt and avoid bankruptcy ??
@@franciscomap75Not the right way to frame the problem. Not a surrender (it was never “yours” or “ours”) but a comprehensive neutrality. Along the lines of Finland during the Cold War.
I'm getting tired of correcting ignorant news and analysis outlets on this issue, but it is too important to keep silent. The issue for Russia is NOT Biden "authorizing" or "giving permission" to Ukraine to use ATACM missiles to attack into Russia. The issue is the US using Ukraine as a platform to launch its own missiles into Russia. ATACMs require downloading of classified satellite data and loading it into the missile's targeting and guidance systems. This requires the direct, hands-on participation of US military personnel. So it is effectively the US launching these missiles at Russia. That is what Putin has pronounced as a qualitative change in the war and is a red line for Russia. The mainstream media has been lying and deceiving the American people about the insane escalation of the Biden Administration. The disinformation they want us to swallow is that "Putin is bluffing, Russia is weak." They are incompetent, deceitful dumbasses, and they are criminally cavalier in fornicating around with our grandchildren's future.
@@gregjohnston5684 You’re absolutely correct. What needs to change first and foremost is the way this war is presented and framed in the West by mainstream media and neocon foreign policy establishment. Trump has never subscribed to this hegemonic narrative and is a unique position to just rupturing it by letting dissident voices flood into the mainstream.
@@Dusty-y6b Since that is a rhetorical question, I'll just ask what your point is because it's lost on me. I'm interested in avoiding WW3 not assessing blame. But if you want to discuss the reasons for Russia's invasion, I'm your huckleberry.

All ballistic missiles are hypersonic, have been since the 1950s
the new ones can reach up to mach 11, the ones since the 80s are like mach 8. So a couple thousand mph faster
