But The newer cars with smoke..looks realy bad..
My opinion.
It's cheap tunes with no real regard for engine integrity. They're cutting the DPF out, dumping a ton of fuel into the engine and hope for the best.
You can get power without smoke. But it usually means pushing the engine a bit less and having someone with a brain make the tune.

I honestly toss between 7.3 powerstroke, 5.9 cummins 12v, 1.9 VE TDI and the OM606T. They're all GREAT motors.

Not necessarily true mate. Running higher power you need to lower the combustion temperature otherwise you risk melting a piston…

It's sad to look at these performance cars having all that much smoke. I had even less smoke when my car was in underboost condition due to shot turbo + seized up variable geometry + blown EGR valve that's at the intake port after throttle body... (The car with these issues was Audi A4 B7 2.0TDI 2005) :D :D
it’s called safety . the fuel is so it doesn’t run lean and when your pushing 300-400tq or more you need adequate fueling . yes they could run cleaner and maybe even get some more power out of it but it’s more likely to blow up . it’s just so it doesnt blow after 10 pulls lol it actually lasts a long time
@@goodsoup1564 so is this a special fuel they add? Is it only necessary for tuned cars? I’ve got a diesel that I push a lot and I don’t want to be doing any damage. Thanks in advance
@@goodsoup1564 Alot of smoke means the car has a very rich AFR what is bad for your EGTs and great for melting pistons
@@pitbulls4088 Hey , I would assume they are running just regular Pump Diesel could be wrong though . But yes very common misconception in the diesel community that the black smoke means you have a bad tune when it’s really a protective measure against blowing up. More fuel is safer although you might sacrifice some horsepower for safety .
@@Gumbile You do realize that the fuel being sprayed is no where near the temperatures of the exhaust gas ? Part of the fueling is to help with lubricity, cooling. You are right in the fact that the egt can’t be crazy high but these cars are tuned with that fact in mind …… so a safety measure is to add more fuel. They will sacrifice some horsepower for safety as the lower the AFR the cleaner it will run and you will get more horsepower but they aren’t trying to do 10 drag pulls and have to rebuild the thing. If it was running so their was no black smoke the exhaust temps would be so high and the fuel wouldn’t be enough to cool it cracking piston, block etc…. a lot sooner anyway.
