Nothing against Jodi shes lovely, but I feel like when the debrief was targeted towards us the fans and viewers IE Shov, James etc speaking to us towards the camera it felt more personal and nuanced rather than an interview style video which to be honest is not the most appealing direction from a fan perspective (Were debreifing a race not hosting the tonight show)

Presumably the cost cap is a factor--and also bringing in more people might actually slow things down because then all the experienced folks would need to get them up to speed.
The thing that gets me is clearly they've had the temperature/rubbering in of the track sensitivity in the car going back to 2022. Look at how often they performed in FP1/2 compared to later in the weekend once the track rubbered in; then look at the races they had success in like Hungary and Brazil which were cooler/cloudier. Even with a change of concept, there's still some gremlin in the car with sensitivity to the track conditions no other car seems to be troubled by.

Do you know how the tire allocations work in F1? It's not uncommon for teams to not run on sets of tires they then use in the race--they only get 3 sets of meds/2 hards for the whole weekend and have to give some back throughout the weekend. Especially when you think the hards will be an ideal race tire due to high degradation at the track and forecast high temperatures.

Is the W15 another design error? Toto Wolff?
I really hope that Mercedes is thinking about 2026. The only smart decision to make at this time, considering the terrible situation of the current W15 car, which is behind Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren and Aston Martin, because next year the focus will be on construction of the 2026 regulation car, which will be smaller and different from the current one, both in terms of chassis and engine (PU), which will also be different and 50% electric. Being in 2nd place is not an advantage at all, as having more time in the wind tunnel, CFD and simulators will be essential in 2025, to at least try to make a better car in 2026. Mercedes is at serious risk of finishing in 5th place in this championship, The only positive point of this is that it will have more time in the wind tunnel than its opponents who have faster cars.

Mercedes must focus on the 2026 regulations, which begin on January 1, 2025. The date allowed by the FIA for the current teams on the grid to have authorization to develop the 2026 car, which is what matters, as no one in this current regulation will challenge Red Bull.
With Hamilton's departure, I think they already have this intention and won't try too hard to finish in 3rd or 4th place in the constructors' championship. I'm not stating this fact, because I'm not sure what Mercedes' long-term strategy is, but it seems like they want to have more time in the wind tunnel, CFD, simulators and development, because with the budget cap and its drastic restrictions, to make a leap, a team has to sacrifice a season to focus everything on another.

So why then did he then say he wanted to save them for 2nd Qualifying if they were over half a second slower. That makes little sense but then nothing that Mercedes have said in the last 2 to 3 seasons has made much sense. Id like to ask why a "top" team can make so many strategic blunders when Red Bull didn't have the pace in the car with Max at least they took decisions consistent with getting him in the race. Why is the Mercedes pit crews not on the same level as Red-bull or even Ferrari or McLaren. They seem only able to match the poorest times of these opposing teams but never ever set the bench mark.

@@joshn1678RBR ran the hards and opted against running them twice.
Merc should've done the same because the Merc car is known to be temperamental when it comes to tyres.
Should've split the strategies at the very least. H-H-M for one H-M-M for the other. They had nothing to lose, they were already bottom of the barrel on the grid.

I hate the fact that there have been no tyre regulation changes in forever. They're also going through way too many sets on a weekend, it's ridiculous, no? I would increase the # of Med's and Hard's by 1 and reduce Softs by 4. And I'd tell Pirrelli to make a longer lasting compound so the guys are pushing the entire stint and not saving tyres all the time.

To those hamilton fans who are crying right now about how bad mercedes today, you might just f off to ferrari or something other. There is nothing holding you back,as a Russell fan i know the car is not performing well but this is what formula 1 is.Its not about wins always. You support the team or the driver even if it is winning or losing and if you dont want to support just f off.

When Mercedes were winning these debriefs were very informative, but now Mercedes are in crisis they just come across as clueless.
These debriefs seem to justify their thinking and put a spin on their efforts. Someone needs to take charge and until such time that they have a clear plan and know what they are doing, just keep quiet.
Bottom line is that Red Bull are half a second a lap ahead, other teams are closer to Red Bull than Mercedes. If Mercedes simulator is telling them one thing and the track another, they need to look at their simulator and actually decide if a simulator that is wrong is any help whatsoever.
It seems that they identify ten things that are wrong, make changes to all ten things and end up with the original ten, and another five new problems.
