  • In 2024, Scott Robertson will become the All Blacks' Head Coach, after 7 years with the Crusaders. The former All Black's backline will be very interesting to see in a year, so today's video is part two of my previous upload, where I discussed a possible forward pack that Robertson could pick.

    As requested, a bit of speculation. Agree with most of those calls. My only challenges would be; Roigard hasn't had much game time (at Super), but I think when he has, he's built amazing momentum coming off the back of a couple of amazing NPC seasons. Not sure I agree with Fakatava building momentum... And being a calm decision maker. Would almost argue the absolute opposite to your views on those two (IMHP). Also Perofeta > Morgan. Stevenson > Kneepkens, no brainer there. I hear you re outsiders usually surrendering at a young age, but shooter is the same age as Telea... My wild card is Umaga Jenson, would put him ahead of Tupaea right now, but who knows on his return.

    Why does Noone rate Bryn Gatlin, I thought in 2017 after that masterpiece against the B I Lions for the heartland team. And then his performances this year for the chiefs, I think he's well rounded

      Gatland was robbed of an All Black cap for sure, but he'll be 29 years old by the time Razor takes charge; he'll be too old...

      @@TheBlackJersey but with Barret and Ma Unga leaving I think you pick Mckenzie as 1st pick, they will pick Perofeta ( I don't think he's up to scratch tbh I'd rather someone like Mitchell hunt) and then 3rd if pick gatland because 33 at next world cup is same as Damien.

      @@admy1133tch Hunt??? He's half the reason for Highlanders misfortunes though, I've lost count of how many of his passes have gone to the opposition and they've scored a try and how times have ball carriers brushed him off to score a try. I'd take Sam Gilbert kn one leg before Mitch Hunt.

    Hmmn midfield is going to be a hell of a lottery I think you are writing off Goodhew & Lienart-Brown way too early, and then there guys like Proctor, Sullivan, Poihipi who are very impressive young guys. And Wrampling was a hell of a schoolboy star and has had a bad time with injuries, a guy like him could come through. And lets not forget the Umanga-Jensons. Where I am a bit concerned about depth is first-five. Morgan cant get as first choice in front of Cameron at the Canes, and Burke does not look better than a good enough super player, neither look special. When you consider the line up of superstars of the past like Fox, Mehrtens, Spencer, Carter, etc, the cupboard looks bare. I would like to see Zane Sullivan tried there by the Blues, and Love played there more by the Canes. There is a guy by the name of Carter in the 7's who looks very sharp, but of course in that game you cannot judge someones kicking game that well. Hopefully someone will come through.

    • @johndiamond6931
      @johndiamond6931 Год назад

      Before Love picked up his injury he was getting more gametime than Morgan at 10, now Brett Cameron is getting more gametime than Morgan at 10 while Love is injured. Both are better players than Morgan.
      At Blues Perofeta hasn't had many opportunities to play 10 but believe he has a better al round game than Beaudan as a 10. Zarn Sullivan has had the unfortunate time of being left out for a whole season and a half where as in 2021 he was Blues best fullback, but he's so talented and has just had the misfortune of not being selected, a huge big left boot, great ball skills, 6'4" and is physical.
      I also like Sam Gilbert, he should be Highlanders 10 but for whatever reason they're been plugging him in every other position this year but he's well suited as a strong running 10 as he has all skills required to play there.
      And I agree with you about Fakatava, he had a poor outing for the ABs last year and hasn't impressed this year. Even Parapara was playing better at the Highlanders out of the two.
      Ratima and Roigard although inexperienced would be the leading candidates for ABs halfbacks, they're playing better than Christie at the moment.
      And as for the outside backs, I think you're right about Stevenson too, but I think Telea may miss out if there are any bolters in the outside backs next year I'd go with Macca Springer before Kneepkens, he hasn't impressed much in Super yet. And I also don't agree about a wingers lifespan of 3 years, I think Habana had a long career of 12 years and played in 2 or 3 RWCs. So I think Clarke will still be in the mix if his form continues along with Faianganuku and Jordan.

      Won’t happen. It’s not 2015 anymore and the world has moved on from the crash-ball 12. The 2016 rush defence tactic from Andy Farrell as the Irish defence coach saw that tactic end after 10 years of use. Australia with Kerevi are the only tier one nation who use the philosophy.

      @johndiamond6931 Год назад

      @@TheBlackJerseyIreland still use Aki from time to time at 12 to crash the ball up.
      Scotland use Tuipulotu to do the same thing and although De Andelle isn't huge he is solid and is used at times to crash the ball.
      Jordie Barrett isn't small now either, probably closest we've had to an SBW and loves running those hardlines, at 6'5" and pushing over 100kgs these days he has been working on his size for big collisions this year ready for when he plays for the ABs.

  • @murrayleckie4937
    @murrayleckie4937 Год назад

    Razor will be plucking some ABs from overseas clubs but with special conditions ala the Giteau law. When he was appointed he mentioned that he was charged with doing things differently which is code for some key players being eligible. Mo'unga and Retallick would be top of the list in my view. Clearly this has to be worked through with the executive and the board but it is necessary from an experience point of view. We can't name a team of virtual novices for 2024.

    There’s no way he’ll pick McKenzie. Robertson will go straight for the young players an build his own team.
    McKenzie is not disciplined enough to be an international 10 - positional play is suss and he runs sideways too much - easily found out.
