I can't help but wonder what he meant by that. It's obvious that he's related to the dragon somehow, seeing as how the Arisen's scar resonates when he transforms. So is he like a form of the Ur-Dragon? By crucible of souls did he mean the Everfall? Gah! Dragon's Dogma lore bros. x_x
The "Hone your Spirit. Refine it." thing I'm thinking is a way of saying that, "Your Spirit is small and frail. To defeat me you must have a Spirit as strong as mine or the dragon's." and the scar resonates maybe because it is a test of some sort to see if you are strong enough to face him. (After about the third hour of fighting him one my second run as a lvl 70 Ranger with no Special arrow of any kind or conquers Talismans and all my Pawns dead your spirit does begin to waver just a bit.) But in all reality it would make sense that the Ur-Dragon would be part of him. Unless when the was first turned into his 1st form the dragon he fought "Grette", Grette instead of disappearing Became part of him. Because he couldn't one or the other he became what would happen when a Dragon's soul inhabited a body of a(n) Arisen. The Crucible of Souls comment he says I think is referring to the everfall or maybe it is where the "Unending Chain" begins. I have noticed that when you fight his second form that if you look to the back of the Cathedral where the roof has fallen and you can see the sky, it looks as if you are fighting him in an entirely different universe. It looks like the galaxy itself is right outside of the wall of that cursed place. So maybe as you are fighting him you ARE in the crucible of souls. Just my thoughts. (Sorry if it the explanation was a bit long.)
You can't really blame the guy for turning his back on the cycle. Like, you can hate and disagree with him but you can't blame him. He's a good example of "Society made me into a monster". @Sanctioned Moron Worse yet, the dragon whose deal he cursed was the Arisen he once followed around, Grette, his hero figure, and his beloved was his own pawn, Olra, who was previously also the pawn of the arisen-turned-dragon in front of him. Just a tragedy from all angles. The dragon is being forced by the Seneschal's will to curse her previous protegé in exchange for her Pawn's life, the pawn is being fought over by the two people she holds dearest, and the Arisen is being forced to choose between letting his beloved pawn die and slaying his former rolemodel-turned-dragon. No wonder he cursed the whole Cycle of Eternal Return in that moment.

I just beat him a couple of hours ago. By the end I was spending more time blocking and evading than attacking. He basically turns the entire fight around.
Picture this. I’m fighting daimon 2nd form. I’ve kinda been carried by level 200 pawns throughout BBI. At the end, 2nd form daimon, I fuck up, all my pawns go down to the insta-kill move, Daimon is at slightly less than half health (or he has less than that. Don’t recall) and I do chip damage so small it’s almost impossible to notice. *I don’t give up.* I keep going, whittling away at him, i get taken down a couple times with wake stones in hand. Finally he’s at one bar left, but one more hit will end me. It’s almost over, he goes for one attack I always struggle to evade, this is it, I’m gonna die... *but I don’t.* Somehow, by some miracle, I dodged all of it. When he’s a mere few pixels away from his demise, he pulls out one last attack right as I swoop in for the kill, one hit will end this, doesn’t matter who’s. Who’s will is stronger, mine or his? Who hits first, me or Daimon? *Me.* And just like that, it’s over. Somehow, I had managed to endure what equates to a single wasp trying to kill a cat. Against all odds my wet stick of a blade brought him down. My will beat his. I outlasted a vastly superior opponent. Somehow... *I won.* I know this doesn’t sound all that impressive, but this victory was just something really special to me.
Kirk Graham maybe i was just unlucky but that seemed impossible for me, he would just spam his lightning attack when I tried to scale him, either that or he would do the one attack where he explodes himself :/
The second form is actually Grette, Ashe's (Daimon) former master. Through the monument of remembrance we know that Grette became a dragon, and that she just as Ashe, cursed the infinite cycle. She loved freedom and considered it to be the greatest treasure of life. And as a dragon, she had no more freedom, she was mystically bended to the Seneschal's will. I think that she, once defeated, came to join Daimon in his rebellion, feeding him with her dragon magick. That's why we see Ashe's being freed of the dragon's curse, but once we defeat him again, we can clearly see that there's some other entity tooking over his body. Our very pawns say "This isn't the same foe. I sense the DRAGON". They say it because it really isn't the same foe, it isn't Ashe. Now we are facing Grette, finally awake and free from every bond that once held her. Well, that's my theory at least. Hope you read it and discuss it with me ^-^
A 9 Years Old NOT RUclipsr these guys are hundreds if not thousands of years old aren't they? It is an eternal cycle, after all. I'm guessing grigori came much later. There must have been an unnamed arisen that defeated grette. I was under the assumption that most of the random dead bodies in BBI (Except the repeat ones) we're other arisens that failed. (SPOILER) The Duke is incredibly old as well since he was also an arisen who never succeeded. He took grigori's offer and sacrificed his beloved. so he could become a Duke with eternal reign.
Animal Joe yes she is a dragon if 3 generations past. It goes Grette was defeated by Shenchal. Grette becomes dragon. Ashe faces Grette but turns his back becoming Daimon. Unknown warrior defeats Grette and Maker. And thus become Maker Unknown warrior faces Maker but loses and becomes the Black Dragon we see in the tutorial. . The arisen we see in the tutorial then flights dragon and defeats him and Maker and thus becomes the Maker we fight as the final boss. Gregory fights the Maker and loses and becomes the Dragon the one that attacks Cassadis. Then it comes to our arisen. Chosen to be apart of an endless cycle of creation.
Grette was a dragon in the past. Daimon however was born out of Ashe's wish. Daimon is a being that was made to destroy the infinite chain. The first time you fight him Ashe has remained apart of Daimon. The second time though, that's Daimon without Ashe. The scary thing is, its stated that Daimon's true power is unknown.
It's not really that. When facing the decision of either killing his "mother" or giving the life of his beloved pawn, he answered with: "If that's the fate of the Arisen, the will of the gods, then DAMN the lot of 'em" And that's what Grigori (Grette) had to do, curse what he wanted. Though she couldn't curse the Seneschal, she could curse the Arisen, thus, she cursed Ashe. Daimon is nothing more than Ashe's cursed form. But the second form? It fits Grette perfectly. Grigori's aura, a tremendous hate towards the infinite chain and a discontent with mankind's lack of will. The only problem with that is: if Grette loved Ashe that much, why would she corrupt him even more with dark thoughts instead of trying to free him like Olra did? Pretty much the only flaw in my argument.
I wish they continued making similar DLC. I want more of this game, much more. A masterpiece which deserves a sequel. I hope, I really hope that they will make Dragon's Dogma 2 after they already made DMC5
I always felt that Awakened Daimon was basically an Anti-Dragon basically. The Dragon enforces the cycle, the Anti Dragon wants to get rid of it altogether. Even one of his lines kinda implies that he believes humanity is too weak to be given the mantle of godhood.
It seems that Daimon is potentially even more powerful than the Seneschal. It's implied that Bitterblack Isle travels between worlds, something not even the Seneschal can do (as he clearly states when you ask him about it in the end of the game). Daimon's arena - the temple you fight him in - also seems to be in a space between worlds when you look outside through the hole in the roof. Daimon is an interdimensional threat.
I heard somewhere that the dev said it was on his list of consideration after DMC5 was finished. Its nowhere near a guarantee, but at least it hasn't been forgotten as a one hit wonder, though Online is still a thing.
@@DaiIchiShujinko It's just so sad. Hideaki Itsuno, the guy who literally revitalized the Devil May Cry series in a single game and changed the action genre to a whole new level has the least sales in Capcoms IP games. It's just bullshit that people are so basic and buy only into linear games with little to no effort in gameplay. Why do you think Resident Evil still sells, just point and shoot. Dragon's dogma sold just barely out of 1 million copies and Devil May Cry 5 sold 3.1 million. In Capcom sales that's not much and Itsuno himself has said he doesn't know how long he will have the freedom and control in the title of "Game Director". If there is any game developer i would 100% support its this man.
Used my healing items and the ones scattered around in the first phase, then I saw a different cutscene from the first time I beat him and well, I used a Liftstone.
I think it was soul(s) of the Dragon/Arisen you fight the 2nd time. After defeating Daimons first form and freeing Ashe and Grette, the curse SHOULD be lifted from Bitter Black Isle, yet the curse remains. Why? Cause, as is explained, ALL Arisen carry the soul of the Dragon within their breast. And ALL Dragons were once Arisen. Its safe to assume that even though Ashe, the one who made the wish, is free, the Souls of ALL Dragons/Arisen before him remain, trapped in this cycle, that became corrupted through Ashes rage.
+Quakefan7 Yeah but level 120+ Asassins and Striders cheese this dude to hell and back. latch onto chest, spam hundred kisses, spam stamina healing items, laugh as he literally cant do jackshit as you melt his ass. Just need around 1800-2000+ damage(easily achieved with autonomy and the other warrior augments) to beat his high physical defense barrier, thereby allowing you to do full damage to him. First fight however...is literal hell.
Beat his first form the other day at level 103. Now I'm planning on getting the full Oblivion armor set for my ranger before coming back to fight again. Getting through the fallen city with enemies in it is hard enough anyway.
I completely agree with you. As a Mystic Knight, I have no trouble whatsoever soloing Daimon's second form but his 1st takes me tons of time to solo since I don't have enough time to cast and my melee's are weak without my dark buff. The 1st form moves way too much for my MK. And about the genius idea of grabbing him, he also likes to spam magic on himself. He's a true challenge with melee characters, he's saddly easy with any long range though...
(Several heartstones and an ungodly amount of salt later) "Yeah! And stay dead you mother... Oh what the fuck is this?! He floats now?!" (Phantom Claws) "Yeah, no."
My method to this boss in my newest playthrough as Magick Archer (I have never played the vocation outside of getting a few augments from it and even then I just used daggers bc I had no good Magick Bows) was reapplying Magick Rebalancer behind pillars, and when I saw him moving towards the center, there's a fallen pillar at the back left corner of the room, next to the treasure room. Tell your pawns to come over there, keep reminding them, and none of you should get sucked to the center. You can Six/Ninefold spam really easy behind the fallen pillar :)
Remember my first fight against him... Me a fighter with holy magic sword, somehow I managed to get thru mostly everything with just me and my pawn a self-imposed challenge I might add. I walk past the doors and the cutscene begins. Bring it on, my pawn immediately buffs me up, first 3 minutes into the fight and daimon is literally just going after my pawn despite my best efforts to keep aggro. Moments later my pawn is gone, now it's only me and him. One on one hit after hit I managed to chip away at his health bar, then he just starts walking towards the center of the map... Starts casting some random thing I never saw before, huge blackhole... Insta kills me. Man I was angry that time, but it was awesome I wish more games had that aura of exploration and combat gameplay... Just imagine those with auto generated dungeons, it would be awesome
Haha, same happened to me with this blackhole. Very mean. Didn't you stack these items (don't remember the name)? With that I was able to kill him 10 times faster
Dragons dogma bosses have the best dialogue out of all bosses iv ever faced in other games. How they talk as if there by far the most powerful being youv ever faced and ever will. So intimidating and deathly. Especially Grigoris opening. But when he comes back as Daimon, it takes the cake. When i finnaly beat damin again i was like 'yea fk you' and then the dam dragons pops out of his chest xD
The cutscene of Daimon's second form awakening was one of the most terrifying, will breaking things i have ever whitnessed in a game. I'll never forget the way his limbs just go limp seconds after this horrifying *thing * in his chest is just screaming bloody murder at you... Capcom did an amazing job depicting Daimon as just the foulest, most cursed creature to fester within Bitterblacks all consuming darkness.
It is hard to slain the one he love, but the best thing at that time is release his mentor out of the prison dragon skin. He may just don't understand or so childish. And now his master still trap until Savan come to release her. And he is forever lost and his body never been free again.
Tried his second form for the first time, used Gold Rarified Bitter End, first form killed two of my pawns, used up 2 wakestones, used 3 periahs, finished off the second form quite quickly.
I think Dragon's Dogma is the only game to actually understand a "DND RPG". Other games, like Baldur's Gate, have certainly tried, but Dragon's Dogma gave me what I WANTED out of a DND game; cool classes and dramatic, spectacle based bossfights. Daimon certainly tops the list, with a kickass score and a fascinating lore scheme that feels like it hints at so much more than what it shows.
But Dragon's Dogma is already popular... what else they're waiting for to release it in ENG? The PC version already came out, and the DDO on Japan is exactly like Final Fantasy XIV (mmo that i plays.), with cross platforms between ps3, ps4 and PC. They have everyhting set to release, but i guess Capcom don't see Dragon's Dogma so great like we fans do, perhaps =
I like how folks say that they climb on his face and stuff and attack but what they fail to mention is that he loves to Levin and Immolate you off of him when you do that XD Easier on normal mode yeah but let's see how their tune changes during hard mode Alot of folks also don't mention another hidden augment called Opportunism also helps in that case which increases damage dealt while clinging to enemies.
He can't knock you off if you're doing enough damage to be constantly staggering him (a maxed out Devilsbane sword helps with this tremendously). I've had him staggered repeatedly to the point that he literally couldn't do ANYTHING, he didn't hit me or my pawns even once in both forms.
In order to get to that point he had to have already beaten Daimon several times. He's sharing a way to farm Daimon, not necessarily a way to fight him. You can fight him any way you want to, but if you want to farm Daimon, you have to stagger him hard.
While this song is dark, epic and sad because it reflects Daimon's life , you can really hear the medieval melody with nostalgic feeling in 2:20, it's like Daimon's happiness memories have kicked in when we fight him.
That's actually just the same melody as dark arisens main theme "eternal return", that same melody is a leitmotif that can be heard in a bunch of songs while in the bitterblack isle.
@@spazzmaticus9086yes i did realize it, i was just amazed how good the structure of this song when they put it in. Anyway, DD2 is coming and i guess this is the reason why we are here 😂
An augur is what daimon seems to be... but of what? Remorse? Rage? Regret? perhaps in the first phase, but in the second phase he seems to simply be an Augur of Destruction...
Depends on what you're using. If you, for example, use the copout strategy of high level ranger + blast arrows + conqueror's periapt, you can kill his second form, which has way more health in a minute or two. That being said, I think his first form is a tougher fight because he's far more aggressive. Even then, I found his first form was an excellent battle partly because the challenge level was just right. I was playing an MK when I did.
A toast for every pawn that died in his vortex
An obvious tell that's not too obvious lead to the death of the full party.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who vividly remembers that ability.
I had no idea you could interrupt it. So I just grabbed my main Pawn and ran for it turning the rest of the fight into a 2v1.
And arisens as well, lucky I had wakestones

At the end, 2nd form daimon, I fuck up, all my pawns go down to the insta-kill move, Daimon is at slightly less than half health (or he has less than that. Don’t recall) and I do chip damage so small it’s almost impossible to notice.
*I don’t give up.*
I keep going, whittling away at him, i get taken down a couple times with wake stones in hand. Finally he’s at one bar left, but one more hit will end me. It’s almost over, he goes for one attack I always struggle to evade, this is it, I’m gonna die...
*but I don’t.*
Somehow, by some miracle, I dodged all of it. When he’s a mere few pixels away from his demise, he pulls out one last attack right as I swoop in for the kill, one hit will end this, doesn’t matter who’s. Who’s will is stronger, mine or his? Who hits first, me or Daimon?
*Me.*
And just like that, it’s over. Somehow, I had managed to endure what equates to a single wasp trying to kill a cat. Against all odds my wet stick of a blade brought him down. My will beat his. I outlasted a vastly superior opponent. Somehow... *I won.*
I know this doesn’t sound all that impressive, but this victory was just something really special to me.
I went through almost the same thing lol. Was super intense.
This form is somehow easier and less agile than 1st form, his damnable huge HP on the other hand...
Zac Manogg I just cling to his face and spam a tTousand Kisses
Kirk Graham maybe i was just unlucky but that seemed impossible for me, he would just spam his lightning attack when I tried to scale him, either that or he would do the one attack where he explodes himself :/
Press R1 and X to roll like the Chosen Undead
Marcohazard even better with a mask, a shield, and a sword or a dagger...
With ranger you can kill him in like 1 min
Hope you read it and discuss it with me ^-^
But wasn't Grette Grigori? Or was that someone else?
When facing the decision of either killing his "mother" or giving the life of his beloved pawn, he answered with: "If that's the fate of the Arisen, the will of the gods, then DAMN the lot of 'em"
And that's what Grigori (Grette) had to do, curse what he wanted.
2:17 ~ 3:02 Lovin it :)
Tfw your pawn masterful kills you after being possessed.
That's why I only use pawns with 100% immunity to possess c:
GranolaNinja how would they masterful kill you if they dont have access to hybrid vocations? MK is assassin only
The only time they masterfully do anything
OH, NOW YOU CAST HIGH GLICEL!
@@kaarpiv375 better than maelstorm at least.
I wish they continued making similar DLC. I want more of this game, much more. A masterpiece which deserves a sequel. I hope, I really hope that they will make Dragon's Dogma 2 after they already made DMC5
MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED
the good ending
:)
just saw the DD2 gameplay video
chills, literal chills
time to listen to the DD's OST for the 71254th time
@@frozenstar8050 hell yeah

Yes.
@@deadmeme5244 Bro that's cringe you're going to lose subs
Please, Dragon's Dogma 2 when? 😭
I heard somewhere that the dev said it was on his list of consideration after DMC5 was finished. Its nowhere near a guarantee, but at least it hasn't been forgotten as a one hit wonder, though Online is still a thing.
I hear Online's servers are getting shut down soon.
If there is any game developer i would 100% support its this man.
have you all heard about the recent capcom leak?
@@kyle21843 Yessir! Dragon's Dogma 2 confirmed in development 😍
god why is this soundtrack so dominating!? i cant get enough of it.
That vortex he does creates such a feeling of helplessness and despair😨😨😨 It's just a slow death
This music channels PTSD into the hearts of veterans (srsly Daimon stop spamming High Seism and High Bolide at the same time)
It's not High Seism, it's Grand, that AoE is far too large for just High.
Whoever was in charge of the artistic direction for Daimon is a genius.
"I have seen the scattering of countless myriad souls."

2:17 the chilling part
This song gives me goosebumps
SLAVE TO A BROKEN ORDER...
DARE YOU LOOK UPON THE TRUTH...
Take my presents.
Its blasts arrow and conqueror priapts. Sleep well arisen..
Used my healing items and the ones scattered around in the first phase, then I saw a different cutscene from the first time I beat him and well, I used a Liftstone.
Wise. Unless you need the cape, it rarely pays to fight his 2nd form.
Everybody gangsta till there's a 2nd phase
...which you can only defeat if you know how to stack certain items which no one tells you except you google like an idiot for it :-D
The thing i like about this game once i got to this i realized how weak i still was so i spent another days in the dungeons and the rest was happiness
I'm listening this after DD2 gameplay from the showcase
This is just beyond epicness, best boss theme in so long.
The song of confusion as you try to beat Daimon with normal attacks lol
I honestly didn't know there was a second form... Well! Back to the game again!
Dragonforged Dragon's Ire + Conquer's Periapts x4 + Blast Arrow + Tenfold Flurry = goodbye Grette on Ashe's chest.
I don't think grette was the dragon breasts. More like she caused them to grow on Ashe.
I love the fact with the Expansion we got new epic music, a lot of games do not do that..Epic weapons and bosses...I love this game
THIS is how a boss battle is done. And the music just makes it even better.
Best combat experience I ever had in gaming...
I can't wait to finally get this game just so I can listen to this theme.
I wish you the best of luck. It took me many tries to kill this guy. Even with my most powerful weapons.
This track is truly epic
Dragon's Dogma 2 confirmed. Let's go, boys.
He's a true challenge with melee characters, he's saddly easy with any long range though...
perfect blocking goes brrr
Having played Assasin most of the time I either kill him swiftly or he mops the floor with me.
We're getting a sequel... We're getting a fucking sequel!!!
(Several heartstones and an ungodly amount of salt later) "Yeah! And stay dead you mother... Oh what the fuck is this?! He floats now?!" (Phantom Claws) "Yeah, no."
This still smacks hard asf
My method to this boss in my newest playthrough as Magick Archer (I have never played the vocation outside of getting a few augments from it and even then I just used daggers bc I had no good Magick Bows) was reapplying Magick Rebalancer behind pillars, and when I saw him moving towards the center, there's a fallen pillar at the back left corner of the room, next to the treasure room. Tell your pawns to come over there, keep reminding them, and none of you should get sucked to the center. You can Six/Ninefold spam really easy behind the fallen pillar :)
THIS FUCKING BOSS
Mega Ethernal THIS FUCKING ICE SPIKE SPAMMING, COMBO BREAKING BOSS!
+ForgottenOutra damn was hard to fight, but with lvl 200 mage you can autoattack him to death xD
STOP PICKING ON MY PAWNS, DAIMON!!! Dx
Fighting against his 2nd form for the first time and 1:34 playing while he was doing his sucky has been ingrained as a core memory
The fight never lasted long enough for me to ever listen to the full theme
"They gather and flow to become as the river of time, expanding to fill the firmament."
*Slave to a broken order... Dare you look upon the truth?*
Capcom did an amazing job depicting Daimon as just the foulest, most cursed creature to fester within Bitterblacks all consuming darkness.
this is just like defeating dio without a stand but 3 pawns and when you have 1700 health left
Amazing! 10/10
Archer classes blast arrows and liquid vim, had this form beat within less than a minute
This theme is dope.
We did it guys ..
DDDA 2 WHEN?????
He can't knock you off if you're doing enough damage to be constantly staggering him (a maxed out Devilsbane sword helps with this tremendously). I've had him staggered repeatedly to the point that he literally couldn't do ANYTHING, he didn't hit me or my pawns even once in both forms.
I never said anyone HAD to use my tactic. If you want to fight him some other way, go right ahead. I was just saying how I prefer to defeat him.
I till love this game
In order to get to that point he had to have already beaten Daimon several times. He's sharing a way to farm Daimon, not necessarily a way to fight him. You can fight him any way you want to, but if you want to farm Daimon, you have to stagger him hard.
When I first saw the vortex sucking us in I sacrifice my lifestone just to save my pawns by throwing them behind the pillars
I run through BBI second with my MA and basically cutting through everything like butter, until I met this guy...
my unprepared ass when the second form showed up was like 👁️👄👁️
While this song is dark, epic and sad because it reflects Daimon's life , you can really hear the medieval melody with nostalgic feeling in 2:20, it's like Daimon's happiness memories have kicked in when we fight him.

"Slave to a broken order... dare you look upon the truth?"
An augur is what daimon seems to be... but of what? Remorse? Rage? Regret? perhaps in the first phase, but in the second phase he seems to simply be an Augur of Destruction...
"Aught will remain."
Level 200 hybrid Assassin with blast arrows!
1:32-1:55 Best part
oh you to? Yeah man i just cling to his chest face thing and use gouge whilst alone with the autonomy perk and he folds like a pack of cards :)
I spent more time in Bitterblack Isle rather than in Gransys. Level 80, encountered a common Quimera west of Gran Soren. 20 seconds, no kidding
Has it been 7 years wtf
Yep
Old but Gold ^^
Depends on what you're using. If you, for example, use the copout strategy of high level ranger + blast arrows + conqueror's periapt, you can kill his second form, which has way more health in a minute or two. That being said, I think his first form is a tougher fight because he's far more aggressive. Even then, I found his first form was an excellent battle partly because the challenge level was just right. I was playing an MK when I did.
