It would seem the risk of mob justice being leveled on these researchers is escalating. My concern is such actions would harm innocent people. There needs to be visible formal justice on this to prevent scary individual action.

Before these "scientists" started their research it HAD to be funded. They presented their objectives to a committee, who looked at it and gave the go ahead. This is APPROVED before it starts. Whole institutions are rotten to the core, all universities, labs, and anybody involved in the process should be disbanded, fired, and forever prevented to work in the field again, and maybe prevented from leaving the country so that they dont do it again for, say, a totalitarian regime somewhere else.

My question is, this research was approved in March 2020 (when the world was starting to lock down!), and supposedly, omicron was not present at that time! How is this possible? It could only mean two things: 1. They generated both and knew about it all along 2. The research plan and purpose was changed after obtaining the approval

So Campbell is to be commended for lying? He left out critical information that completely changes his message and shows he's a liar. Firstly the whole point of the paper was to explore why the omicron strain was less lethal than the original Wuhan strain. So they used three viruses for the experiment: Wuhan, Omicron, and Hybrid. The scientists then infected three groups of genetically modified mice that are very susceptible to C19 with these viruses. Group Wuhan 100% of the mice died. Group Hybrid 80% of the mice died. Group omicron 0% of the mice died. Basically the Hybrid is _LESS_ lethal than the original strain. In other words this was LOSS OF FUNCTION not gain of function. Campbell lied plain and simple.

I was a Boston Fire Captain and toured this place in 2010, In case of an Emergency, primarily Medical incidents . I was stunned at the way this place was built and the Security Systems it had. This was the only such Lab in America at the time, so they went overseas to conduct these Frankenstein experiments, now it appears America has over300 Labs in at least31 Countries. This is a Tier 5 Lab, the most dangerous and the NIH seems were behind it, Boston had the most corrupt Mayor in its History and he was owned by the Clintons. So they "Donated" it to B.U. for ordinary Medical / Bio Work but clearly the Government is running this place. Any Researcher/ Scientist or support Staff who knowingly engage in this should get life in Prison without possibility of Parole.

Ironic since he completely lied about the original paper. Here are the real facts from the original paper. Pg 5-6 lines 79 to 100 describe how the original Wuhan strain (referred to as WT), the hybrid virus (referred to as Omi-S), and Omicron (referred to as Omicron since it's not cool enough for a fancy nickname) are tested to see how well they infect tissue samples. Pg 6 to 7 lines 115 to 131 briefly describe how mice were used to study infection outcome and overall fitness. Of note here is lines 126 to 131 which notes that covid infection in the mice used is often fatal and that the Wuhan strain killed 100% of the mice. Pg 10 lines 211 to 216 further reiterates that the mice used while helpful in studying the lethality of covid it cannot be used as a model for how the virus behaves in humans since the virus causes fatal neurological symptoms in the mice. Primates are the preferred method of studying how the virus normally functions in humans.

I don't know why I chose you to tell this but here it goes. For clarity I am not a medical professional, scientist or academic. I'm just an average person who wants' the truth. Campbell calls this apparent "Gain of function" an outrage, but what he failed to inform all who watched this video was which strain of the covid virus was hybridised with the Omicron variant. This is incredibly important information as it also goes to point towards the actual reason for the research. The omission of this redirects the attention to the apparent horror. "My god, they created a hybrid that kills 80% of the humanised mice. This is an outrage". The strain of the virus used is of course in the paper that he provides a link to in the description and he says go and have a look to see where I've got my information. Of course nobody does. If you did you would see that the strain that was hybridised with the Omicron variant was the WASHINGTON STATE 2020 strain. What he failed to tell us was that this strain was 100% lethal to the humanised mice and the hybridised variant of Omicron only killed 80%. Yes, it could be said that they made "Gain of function" but the reality is that this research has shown that they can reduce the levels of lethality of a virus by changing the spike proteins. This wasn't "Gain of function" it is "Reduction of function". I don't understand Campbells motives here but by omission he has completely misrepresented the research. This is important research that in future may allow us to reduce the potency of viruses. As I said, I don't know why I chose you for this comment but I did. Make of what you will. Just because research is dangerous, doesn't mean it should not be done. Every nuclear power plant, if managed carelessly, could cause the deaths of thousands or even tens of thousands of people. But these facilities are managed as carefully as possible to ensure an accident almost never happens. I have no doubt Boston University has several layers of security, most of which we are neither made aware of or could understand, to prevent an unwanted lab escape of a dangerous virus.

i’m against this kinda research obviously. but this story has snow balled. in the study 8 out of 10 mice did die from the virus they played with. but 10 out of 10 mice died in that same study from the regular omnicron virus. So they didn’t make a super deadly version. it’s less deadly.

One of my degrees is from Boston University and I think it notable that this is the Boston University School of Medicine. Boston University is a sprawling university and they have a bunch of different schools. They have been trying to get this kind of lab since the 1980s I think. I recall the anger at them trying to get approval for such a lab back then to study Ebola and Marburg. It looks like they got approval in the previous decade and built their lab. Boston is a biotech hub and some of the research for CRISPR was done in Boston and that helped open the door to a lot of experimentation. This isn't the only place in Boston with this kind of lab.

My question is, this research was approved in March 2020 (when the world was starting to lock down!), and supposedly, omicron was not present at that time! How is this possible? It could only mean two things:
1. They generated both and knew about it all along
2. The research plan and purpose was changed after obtaining the approval

it was actually approved in February 2019 and additional research sanctioned in early 2020 for Omicron which they claim didnt come into existence until early 2022.

So Campbell is to be commended for lying? He left out critical information that completely changes his message and shows he's a liar.
Firstly the whole point of the paper was to explore why the omicron strain was less lethal than the original Wuhan strain. So they used three viruses for the experiment: Wuhan, Omicron, and Hybrid. The scientists then infected three groups of genetically modified mice that are very susceptible to C19 with these viruses. Group Wuhan 100% of the mice died. Group Hybrid 80% of the mice died. Group omicron 0% of the mice died. Basically the Hybrid is _LESS_ lethal than the original strain. In other words this was LOSS OF FUNCTION not gain of function. Campbell lied plain and simple.

Pg 5-6 lines 79 to 100 describe how the original Wuhan strain (referred to as WT), the hybrid virus (referred to as Omi-S), and Omicron (referred to as Omicron since it's not cool enough for a fancy nickname) are tested to see how well they infect tissue samples.
Pg 6 to 7 lines 115 to 131 briefly describe how mice were used to study infection outcome and overall fitness. Of note here is lines 126 to 131 which notes that covid infection in the mice used is often fatal and that the Wuhan strain killed 100% of the mice.
Pg 10 lines 211 to 216 further reiterates that the mice used while helpful in studying the lethality of covid it cannot be used as a model for how the virus behaves in humans since the virus causes fatal neurological symptoms in the mice. Primates are the preferred method of studying how the virus normally functions in humans.

I don't know why I chose you to tell this but here it goes. For clarity I am not a medical professional, scientist or academic. I'm just an average person who wants' the truth.
Campbell calls this apparent "Gain of function" an outrage, but what he failed to inform all who watched this video was which strain of the covid virus was hybridised with the Omicron variant. This is incredibly important information as it also goes to point towards the actual reason for the research.
The omission of this redirects the attention to the apparent horror. "My god, they created a hybrid that kills 80% of the humanised mice. This is an outrage".
The strain of the virus used is of course in the paper that he provides a link to in the description and he says go and have a look to see where I've got my information. Of course nobody does.
If you did you would see that the strain that was hybridised with the Omicron variant was the WASHINGTON STATE 2020 strain.
What he failed to tell us was that this strain was 100% lethal to the humanised mice and the hybridised variant of Omicron only killed 80%. Yes, it could be said that they made "Gain of function" but the reality is that this research has shown that they can reduce the levels of lethality of a virus by changing the spike proteins.
This wasn't "Gain of function" it is "Reduction of function".
I don't understand Campbells motives here but by omission he has completely misrepresented the research.
This is important research that in future may allow us to reduce the potency of viruses.

Just because research is dangerous, doesn't mean it should not be done. Every nuclear power plant, if managed carelessly, could cause the deaths of thousands or even tens of thousands of people. But these facilities are managed as carefully as possible to ensure an accident almost never happens. This is human arrogance at its most lethal. This is utterly terrifying. They should never have been allowed to do this kind of work. The endgame is clear, this is meant to be weaponized. There’s no doubt that governments with no concern for human life, would unleash this on their own people. This is, as you said, an existential threat to all mankind. It is the stuff of nightmares.
It sounds like this stuff not only needs to be stopped but it needs to be prevented from being ever done again. There is no rational basis for creating a virus in a lab for experimenting on because it is inevitable something will cause it to leak even with the best of intentions at this point I would say it's fair and reasonable to say that we cannot Bank on these scientists having the best of intentions. i’m against this kinda research obviously. but this story has snow balled. in the study 8 out of 10 mice did die from the virus they played with. but 10 out of 10 mice died in that same study from the regular omnicron virus. So they didn’t make a super deadly version. it’s less deadly.

You must have missed the hundreds of doctors that came forward 1 month after covid hit back in March 2020. wake up people. One of my degrees is from Boston University and I think it notable that this is the Boston University School of Medicine. Boston University is a sprawling university and they have a bunch of different schools. They have been trying to get this kind of lab since the 1980s I think. I recall the anger at them trying to get approval for such a lab back then to study Ebola and Marburg. It looks like they got approval in the previous decade and built their lab. Boston is a biotech hub and some of the research for CRISPR was done in Boston and that helped open the door to a lot of experimentation. This isn't the only place in Boston with this kind of lab.

What I am appalled by and frightened by is that the IRB (Research review board) allowed this research to be approved! Both the researchers and any involved IRB members should be brought up on charges.
