The regular high tide caught me once a long time ago, but I was young and foolish.
How were these people allowed to stay there knowing a 40 foot swell was coming?
Forecast was 18-20 foot swell, and that's what it was, not 40.

@warreng7138 I know it's a huge difference, but still, people are strange and go to watch these events, whether it's 40 or 25 or even 15 ft waves.

Nice footage. No knowledge of the place, but I noted some of those big wagons were in the wet sand, I'm guessing most of them were caught out by the waves? Do you reckon their insurance companies will pay out?
Pismo is remarkable when the water recedes- such fine sand and makes a hard pack. A long time ago, I was caught by the regular high tide, and rode a pretty heavy street bike out through soft sand just above waterline- got the weight on the back wheel and gassed it, like a dirt bike.
No sympathy from me
