In a year of watching and listening to your podcasts my favorite guests were the priests/musicians of the Hillbilly Thomists and now Fr. Augustine Wetta. I must confess that sometimes my expression matches his when I get lost during some of the conversations in the podcast, but I am hopeful that the more I listen the more I will learn. Humility and humor - we need more of both. Please have the Hillbilly Thomists and Fr. Augustine Wetta on your podcast often in 1925 because it feels like WWIII is going to begin and our democracy/society is falling apart. Thanks.
I love “Humility Rules,” I hand it out like candy! This podcast is hilarious 😂 Fr Wetta is a legend! He is Classic and such a hilarious wise gift to our Church!
Oh wow, it is so much fun to see you guys having so much fun that gave me a lot of joy. Just watching the joy on your faces as you lost it. That was just so much fun. You must have him back!😂❤❤❤❤
Humor in uniform: When I, a Catholic, was in the army in the 1960s, I ended up in an infantry squad. Our leader was a Lieutenant with a Catholic university education and I, as far as I knew, was the only other Catholic. LT was a very self confident guy, who did not want to be saluted, unless higher authority was present, which caused the unit to be quite a calm, friendly group. One of our NCOs was a great tease, who caused us lighthearted banter often. He used to refer to we Catholics as “mackerel snappers”. It was received as a gesture of love! We all laughed with love in return.😂
Father Augustine's delivery seems to me to be almost like a mix between Emo Philips and Louis C. K. - his aloof speech pattern when joking around; the humor is ironic and sometimes dark, yet goofy and self-depreciating. Also, his quip about those who break the rules actually have less fun than those who follow the rules was actually a pretty good paradox - on the level with Socrates or Chesterton.
I mean, it's hard for me not to take Nathaniel's words in John's Gospel "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" as anything but a pithy bit of regional humor
Can't joke about race, sexuality, or religion? that is boomer nonsense. The second and third are a choice, and the first is just a biological fact like gender which is ok for jokes apparently.
Truly disappointed! Lauding bullies??!! Having had children who were bullied, I couldn’t believe Fr Wetta’s joking about bullies! “You should be nice to them because they may be your boss someday”? Bullying needs to be addressed, not joked about. As a former educator myself, I can say teachers do see it and unfortunately many do nothing. While I do enjoy this podcast, this is one episode I wish I had skipped.
Thank you for letting me know. I was horribly bullied in school, which may be why I learned to use humor- as a way to weasel my way out of ugly situations. I guess it's also the way I deal with the memories--and with the bullies themselves. After all, Saint Thomas More said, “The devil…that proud spirit…cannot endure to be mocked.” Now that I'm a high school teacher, I founded--and am the faculty sponsor of--our anti-bullying club: "The Secret Society of the Knights of Saint Peter Claver." Please pray for us.

I just heard Fr Wetta on pints with aquinas and laughed out loud-- over and over What a gift he is- i wish my kids could have been taught by him
You can’t have a bad day if you have Fr. Augustine around. He is magic!
Every clip of Fr. Wetta I find makes me want to explore my Catholic upbringing again (it’s been over a decade since I was last a practicing Catholic)
Your nerdy, religious humor is infectious.
Saw Fr Wetta on EWTN...priceless....God bless our priests❤.
Best episode ever....
My stomach hurts from laughing!
Don’t drive while listening to this!
This was SO lovely. Had me grinning ear to ear the whole time!!!
I use Fr. Wetta's book in our confirmation class - and I still laugh every time I re-read it. God bless!!!
Thanks! Let me know when your class is going to discus it, and I'll ZOOM in..
Which book
Fr. Wetta is the best! I had the pleasure of listening to him speak at my Parish! He is a breath of fresh holy air!
Woohoo
This guy is brilliant
31:12 A seven hour episode sounds good.
This was pure joy! If you want to have a better day, you just need to listen to this episode!
Best episode ever.
😂😂😂 Dominican habit in the Godsplaining merch 😂 Brilliant idea from Fr. Wetta!
Cheers!
I enjoy Fr. Gregory's laugh so much. God bless him.
Oh, golly! 😂 Fr. Auggie sure gave you a run for your money! Utterly delightful! ❤
We sure had fun filming this episode! It wouldn't be a true episode on humor without a lot of laughter!
Thanks.
Ridiculously funny - love it.

"A time for sorrow and the time for joy, the time for mourning and the time for dancing."
I sooo enjoyed this episode! ❤
Thank you, this video made my day better
Thanks, Victor! Happy to hear you enjoyed the episode!
I purchased his book •Humility Rules• for my 16 year old and we enjoyed it immensely! Great episode!
That's awesome! Thanks, Beth!
All I can say is that Catholics are way more fun ! That was part of what led me to the church! That and St. Benedict!
Great video. God bless you all ❤️
This was great!
Are you Red Skelton's relative? I stress the resemblance. My fave quote: Lord forgive my enemies because you know it is I who made them so.
When I teach RCIA and no one laughs at my jokes it hurts, lol! We can all use some fun loving humor, particularly my self-deprecating humor!

This guy is the funniest mf’er ive heard in a loooong time
The most chaotic Godsplaining episode of all time, which will go down in the annals of history for all the wrong reasons 🤣
I heard humourus people have the virtue of humility.

Sometimes my priest laughs in Confession.
Gallows humor is funny
I'll bet Father Wetta thinks certain aspects of the Bible are funny---but Not in a mocking way. He's got a comedian's mind.. in a good way.

Eutropalia 😵💫
I too teach sexual ethics to juniors, and i can confirm, that Nazism comes up..... with surprising frequency.

Youre very cool 😎 Its Hard to believe you were ever bullied by anyone !
