Never thought of how wood grows more densely in a colder annual ambient environment. Another great video. Thanks for the entertainment in the cold friend!
Love the video as always Tinman this is why your channel is growing keeping it real in the saw world and not afraid to show what you know...Love the Husky!!!
Another great video Tinman! Been going through all your previous videos. Your instructive method is both entertaining & inspiring to break open my saws & start learning. Appreciate the time you take to share your expertise!
Hey Tinman, What a very informative video. Love your honesty. I truly appreciate that you are always sharing your information and knowledge with us , the viewers. Stay safe and warm.🪓🪵🌲
Nice pipe! Amazing how much it wakes a saw up if correct. My 038 really changed after I made one and installed it. Just loosened up and rips. What a difference and sure it will run cooler since it's not fighting with itself. Good video as usual. Hope it warms up some up there on the praire. Been pretty mild here in Ohio and just now getting cold. Thanks.
Tinman - just a thought, I do tree work and have to consider the exhaust when cutting a stump low to the ground. If you, or your customer, is never going to use this saw for that, no problem, but you may want to ask that before running a pipe out that direction. Thanks for the videos!
You expertise, honesty and passion is so admirable Mr. Tinman! You keep my saw obsession rockin. Just did my first muffler mod on my G888. Talk about choking a monster so it can't breathe. Like that design might do it for my 266xp.
Now make one with an adjustable outlet so we can tune the pipe to the saw. It would be cool to see how the saw leans and fattens up as the outlet size changes.
Just weld a 3/4 nut to the side of the output. Since torque isn’t as important as drag racing I don’t think it would actually help, it would create back pressure which you don’t want. What you want is the sonic rebound in low pressure for high rpm performance.
Wow (yeah im late watching, (catching up) What a great saw! I have watched it be built & adding that Pipe!?! waay kool :) good thing its a giveaway as the cost of the time you invested makes it priceless. Grats to Adam - you are blessed.
That sounds great, and has serious snap. I use 0w20 synthetic if I have to cut in the cold. -25c, -5f is about as cold as I’ve cut, and doing property maintenance I can wait for it to warm up to that in our coldest snaps. I don’t cut for production.
One of those pipes needs to go to Dyno Joe. Id like to see some real dyno numbers. Sometimes more noise can be mistaken for more power. I doubt that it offers any substantial power gains like a real tuned expansion chamber ''pipe''does.
It can work good. It allows pressure out, but still creates the rebound wave to add compression. It’s not idea, but I bet it get 75-90% of the possible performance of stock + flow to a computer modeled race pipe.
Hello Tinman...might want to make support bracket since it sticks out past front of saw....I just seen a RUclips video a wk ago where the homemade muffler busted out the bolt holes in the head so just a FYI I should saw broke the exhaust flange
Love the humor! Great video as always. I've been building saws for a little while, just stock, I've got to get into porting and muf mods. I've been kinda scared to modify expensive cylinders lol. I'm also getting into knife making. Oh boy
vary nice ,sounds great i have ported a few thanks to you and ironhorse 028s thats giving me a little greef and a 038s that makes me laugh every time i cut with it,thanks again and now im going to have to do a pipe what a great site this is
Good push today Tinman. That cold is tough. The novice lumberjack did a cool vid on resonance you may want to check out. Stay warm! See ya on buckin’s live here shortly no doubt👍
Tinman, I love how the first part of the mixing of pipe building. It made my day brother. I know it need a pipe, good choice Adam, sound and looks like runs way better, love the choping and quickly powersaw. Timan you think the same size pipe would work good on 372xp? With you and iron 🐎, ok, I would like to use you guys style of pipe? To both of you guys, happy new year, be safe at what you guy doing for us, best wishes to you guys and family and friends, and to us all. Be safe you all.
One thing I recently learned, is that fuel injection mapping on motorcycles is much more primitive compared to cars. A cars computer & FI system can do more precise air/fuel metering calibrations. Whereas a motorcycle FI mapping is sorta just a rough estimate. I think for the extra complexity & expense it's almost more or is more trouble than it's worth compared to a carburetor on a small engine motorcycle. Unless you're racing, trying to squeeze out every once of power and fuel economy. Or you don't mind paying more for a motorcycle that always starts easy with a touch of the button. I have a 2000 Carbureted Buell Cyclone motorcycle, the 2000 lightning model has the the same engine but FI. You get like 5 more HP and slightly better MPGs but have way more parts to break down. The carbureted model is much easier/simpler to modify for power gains & more relaible. Why I'm telling you I have no idea lol
I am George From back east in New Brunswick, I worked in the Forest all my life Saws were my income maker, I had a 268 one summer , It was useless./ you could care i in the woods run a tank of gas through it . Gas it up , and pull your heart out and not even get a kick. Put a new plug it it , starts up and goes run that gas out , Then the same thing . My brother run saws in chain saw competitions. He would not even look at a 268. They had to many problems this was in late 70s early 80s// I was not going to look at the video when i seen you had a 268./ but I did watch it. I would interested to see if this did not fly all to pieces, if the guy you built it for runs it very long . I am 74 yrs old ./ and as I said I run saws all my life
Lol nice intro, it's what I do to put metal together...haha, is that flange a door kicker plate lol?if so that would really make it even easier if the flange is half built
Hi Tinnman!!😀😀 I really like that style of pipe but I am worried that it is too long and is going to be bumping off the log instead of the spikes and the oil tank. I don't think it should be sticking out any farther than the edge of the oil tank so it doesn't create stress on the pipe and jug. It shouldn't hurt to shorten it and just put a little more angle on the small pipe to let the exhaust flow in the proper direction. Take care my friend!!😀😀👍👍❤ Logger Al
Hi Tinman great videos I’ve got a 385 I live in New Zealand I’m thinking about doing a pipe I only get firewood for myself and my dad I’m no professional by any means keep up the great work
i wonder if you tapered the pipe out from the exhaust port if you could shorten it? prefer the idea of keeping the pipe behind the dogs. i wish i had the knowledge/skills to have the best of all worlds. the power of a pipe, with less decibels than stock and be really light.
I just made one those pipes last week for my 372 I seen iron horse make it so I had to try it made a good difference now to try porting it wish I could put a pic of the pipe i made on here lol
Sorry for bothering you tinman but you sent me a moment that said that I was on a short list of candidates and I don't know how to get in touch with you. Well like always God bless you and yours and everyone on the channel with love Jay small
It looks good, I’d be interested in how varying the length of the expansion tube would change the power curve. That would take 100’s of dyno runs with different lengths and port timing. I’m looking forward to the live feed tonight, hopefully I can stay awake.
I'm curious how this pipe would compare to a cone or banana style expansion pipe on a chainsaw or small 66/80cc 2 stroke engine. If this pipe design worked just as good. I could easily modify a stock 2 stroke motorized bike exhaust pipe to have the same shape design. Would just have to gut it, drill a hole in the side and weld a pipe in.
So Mr Tinman, do you rebuild saws for customers? I have a very nice Husqvarna CD2100 that I would like to have freshened up and gone through. I think it has a few small issues. runs like a scalded dog cuts like crazy, but I think it could use some good lov'n. Thanks
Tinman, I’ve been watching your shows for a while. Please keep up the great work, but for the love of all that is sacred , please make a proper tuned pipe I’ve done a little tuning on a husky 480cd Though everyone wants to see an expansion chamber Something smart, yet functional I found a 2 stoke pipe tuning program a while back, if you ever went down that route That program would be of great use
LOVE the ole cooking shows, friends!!! Love it! Great recipe Tinman.
Loved the cooking opening! "Just like Grandpa used to make"😀 that saw and pipe combo Just sounds RIGHT👂🎶👊
I like your mentality. An old saying I've always said to people is how many times do you want to handle a piece of wood before it goes into the stove.
Never thought of how wood grows more densely in a colder annual ambient environment. Another great video. Thanks for the entertainment in the cold friend!

I have an old 038 super ll and was thinking about putting a pipe on it. Thanks to your comment I will try it for sure!

Great point
will send your xmas gift slash new years gift next week yor going to love it
Honestly, the first toaster oven bell ring was on point

Great job on the saw & that wonderful pipe that you built!🤩🤩
Great vid Tinman. A great saw got a fab pipe . The shield is impressive too. Ur a great guy doin this in the freezer for us.
😎🤘🤣 love the Intro working in a freezer..

That video was next level, awesome!!! Pipe really makes the difference.
Now that’s one sweet mod and hot saw way to go really enjoy your videos learning all the time thanks for what you do!!!!!
That's a crazy interesting design. I would've never thought a hard 90 would work 8n exhaust, but it seems to. Nice job!

I am in KY and I have seen several saws with the plastic melted ( Husky and Stihl) because the exhaust was too short. I like your idea.
Love the humor! Great video as always. I've been building saws for a little while, just stock, I've got to get into porting and muf mods. I've been kinda scared to modify expensive cylinders lol. I'm also getting into knife making. Oh boy

You crack me up bro! Much love from S. TX
Sweet sounding 272 - I enjoy your channel 👍😊

And, that my friends, is the Big Bang Theroy. Yeah, how about no.
Good job, thats your best looking pipe yet.
That saw turned out really well. Congrats to Adam, he will surely enjoy running that beauty!!!
Please help me find someone to modify my muffler for my cc590 Timberwolf
Makin a chainsaw video for us in the 20 below shop… that’s a man of uncommon valor…
Harvey liked that pipe because it sounded like a dirt bike !
Hey Tinman, great looking saw he should love it. 👊👊
Tinman . You need a dyno!
That saw has a sweet Growl on the re-start with that muffler, which will alert whoever starts it, to put on their seatbelt.
Just the other day I trashed a pro mac 800 because I didn't clean out the inside of my pipe that I made ....valuable lesson
That looks pretty sick, Tinman!
Wow that 268 is a thing of beauty how in the world did u get that saw so clean looks awesome brother
What brand is that red bar oil? I live in the US in Virginia and have never seen red bar oil.
We use some in Tennessee that's red. It's starfire brand. Pretty cheap
That thing looks just like my 61. Guess they are all the same series...
Had to subscribe!
That thing pumps some bar oil! Bar will last forever.
She is ready
For snowmobiles the general rule of thumb is go up one jet size for every 20 degree drop in temperature.

Now I wish I would have keep my 268.
Sounds crisp with that pipe.
Yessss the best pipe design out there
Dude I need you to bake me up a cookie pipe to lol, sounds pretty awesome sir!
Best intro yet!!!! Keep it up!
LOL.... the Closed caption was "let's see what we faked today"
Totally like this whole build! Would that pipe work on a stock saw?
It would probably help. That’s my I’m not a lawyer version of ‘it depends’.
Yes.
@@headhunter7049 Thanks! I may weld one up at work tomorrow. Have all the scraps lying around.
I agree with you Tinman looks super sweet
Also you can’t order muffler for 268’s anymore and they loved to rust out haha. I did same style pipe on mine
-45° mmmm mmm i miss that kinda cold it dont get the cold down here in NC lol.

Haha 😂 i like youre baking. If you compare the 576 and the 268, what saw is strongest?
Nice piping! Like to see you port that 562 of yours someday
great resource for a saw guy
just like grandmas. lol. great video
There's drag race cars that don't have that good of throttle response!!!!!! Awsome !!
You must stir gently so that the welding rod is not damaged, the surface of it does not withstand much
NIce! can you show us 268 / 272 owners how the return spring fits back into the plastic brake handle?
This is your best work. LMFAO
same kind weather here in finland, sounds good that pipe
That is ROWDY tinman 😃👍👍 awesome
Intro is 🔥
Awesome recipe. Lol. Bsafe
Cool Pipe Tinman!
Nice work Mr saws
Hey tinman, you need your wood stove closer to the work bench. Harv has his right behind him lol

What's thar nice looking bowie knife on your desk?
What are good angles for chain in hard wood. Maybe 25 degrees rather then 35 degrees???? (IDK) Also, rake depth?
30 degrees
Mix it up
Just like Grandpa used to make👍
Saw sounded Good 🙂
I would of liked to see how well the brake flag cleared the exhaust outlet
Boy I sure like that pipe sounds really good
