I am a 51 year old white guy, and I remember when this came out ( I was 17) I had the same exact reaction you had - mouth dropped to the floor!
The best hip hop dancer there is..she paved the way for the artist you see today.
You don't see performances like this by female artist or rarely in general anymore. Janet was the first and only of her kind and my all time favorite female entertainer of all time. This video was made over 30 years ago and still exceptionally entertaining.
