Parasol Stars did make it to the NES, but only in Europe. I can only assume that Ocean thought that everyone else didn't want cute arcade games, and instead wanted terrible movie licenced games. Incidentally, one of their games is coming up soon and it might just be the worst game they ever made, at least on consoles 🙃
I’m actually surprised on the harsh review on this one. The game looks fantastic and henbee is able to do lot of stuff with the umbrella, which is a great feature for a platformer. It’s a hard game game yes, and it takes a while to get use to the controls, but I still think this move and control better than many platformers in the system, that got a pass from fans.
I'll admit, I didn't know about this one. I think it's cute... and I might wanna play it! Is it good for 1991 though? Well... I guess not. I'll still give it a try though.
Looks nice and colourful and all, but I liked playing the GB Parasol Henbee game more. It's much more straightforward and just plays better all around.
If it wasn't for the fact that one of the soundtrack from this game got used in some Famiclone multicarts, I wouldn't have know that this game exists. Parasol Henbee is one of those Fujiko Fujio A material that no one in Vietnam remembered (talking about it, only 2 of his works made it to Vietnam, and people in my country prefer Fujiko F Fujio works better). At least the game is passable, far better than Epoch's previous attempts at the Fujiko Fujio license, though I prefer Irem's lineup of Perman games more.
Why would a 11 year old need the absolute hardest difficulty?? And then they gave easy mode to 36 year olds as if they all have dimentia or something.. 😵
amused at the story about parasol stars, I mean our protagonist here has a parasol and it looks like it shoots a tiny rainbow? also find the other parasol mechanics neat... in theory anyway. seems like they could've also borrowed the good gameplay from taito's games there.
