Tonyukuk - Epic Turkic Music

- Опубликовано: 13 окт 2024
- Music and vocals by Farya Faraji. Tonyukuk, born c. 646, died c. 726, known as Tonyukuk the Wise, was the adviser of four Turkic Khagans, a successful conqueror and general, and called a "kingmaker" by historians. The lyrics are taken from the Tonyukuk inscription, now found in Mongolia, the oldest written attestation of the Old Turkic language, preceding the Orkhon inscription by many years.
Modern Anatolian Turkish translation of the lyrics:
Bilge Tonyukuk ben kendim, Tabgaç ilinde doğdum.
Təşəkkürler Farya
Cox sağol Tahir :)
Great Bilge Tonyukuk the Kingmaker and Turkic Bismark, greetings from Turkey!
No mate, we can perhaps say Bismarck may be German Tonyukuk.
Because the person who lived earlier can be referenced to another who lived later, not the other way around.
And Tonyukuk surely deserves to be a reference entity to many who came after him, with his great achievements in that difficult time and place in history, including Bismarck.
Ruhun sad olsun kutlu bilge Tonyukuk.
more like Bismarck is the German Tonyukuk.

mr Faraji; You are one of the few foreign channels I watch on youtube. Although Persian is your mother tongue, when I listen to your old Turkish Pronunciation, I see that it is perfect. When I started following his channel, I saw that he did it perfectly in old versions of other languages. It shows that he really puts effort and talent. This allowed me to listen to Byzantine music, which I would never listen to, with your interpretation. I have no words to say about Persian. Persian is a very deep-rooted and ancient language. Persian civilization is a very old civilization anyway. Everything aside and separate issues, but no one claims that Iranian music is bad. It gets even better with your comment. It was something I wanted to appreciate from my heart. Congratulations and I wish you success.

Its remarkable how similar Turkic music is to the Mongolian music I’ve listened to since childhood. It makes sense since the inscription was found in Mongolia but wow, a lot of the vocal elements were the same, different vibe, but same components and vocal technique
Even though Turkic and Mongolic languages are not related, Turkic and Mongol people originally lived side by side, as the homeland of the Turkic people is South Siberia and Mongolia. The steppes are fascinating, much like how the people the Greeks called the Scythians-who, thanks to DNA analysis and limited archaeological evidence, seem to have originated in the west near Eastern Europe-migrated as some of the first horse nomads. When they entered modern-day Mongolia, they intermixed with Turkic and Mongolic peoples. The Eastern Saka seemed to have had predominantly Mongolic and Turkic ancestry, while the rest of the Scythians' ancestry is closer to Iranian and Eastern European peoples. The steppes have been a major thoroughfare throughout history, from the earliest humans hunting mammoths to various East Asian ethnic groups moving into East Asia , as well as the Siberian peoples into Siberia. Another group that benefited from the steppes were the ancestors of Native Americans, who made their way across the steppes before migrating north into northeast Siberia and eventually over the land bridge to North America. However, when the Ice Age ended and sea levels rose, the land bridge submerged, cutting off gene flow between the Americas and Siberia. The last natives to cross over were the Eskimo-Aleut peoples, which include the Inuit and Unangan (Aleut) peoples.
Great Work I got goosebumps!
Thanks alot!

If you are going to continue Epic Turkic music, I can arrange very nice sections from the orhun inscriptions that you can put in your songs.
Old Turkic Language ( Tonyukuk )
Why we do run from "fighting? "
Why are we afraid because they outnumber us?
Are we going to be defeated because we are outnumbered?
"Attack" I said.
We attack and looted.
We won because god ( tengri / tangrı ) wanted it.
the Latin alphabet
''neke tezer biz üküş tėyin neke korkur biz az tėyin ne basınalım tegelim tėdim tegdimiz yulıdımız.'' Tanrı istediği için kısmını göktürkçe bulamadım.
Günümüz Türkiye Türkçesi : ( Tonyukuk )
(Savaşmaktan) ne diye kaçacağız? Çoklar diye niye korkuyoruz? Azız diye yenilecek miyiz? ''Saldıralım”dedim.Saldırdık, talan ettik. Tanrı istediği için kazandık.'
Tonyukuk said this against the 10 arrow tribes.

Uyghur scholar Dolkun Kimberli suggests a slight correction to this widely accepted translation which says Tonyukuk was born in Tabgachi or Northern Wei dynasty founded by the Toba. Tonyukuk may have meant to say "I have been to the Wei state" or studied or visited to study their ways.
But does the word qılınmaq not mean “coming to existence” or “ to be appointed”

Wonderful
Very interesting runic alphabet. It has a lot of letters which are exactly the same, or extremely similar to Germanic (Futhark, Anglo-Saxon, even Marcomannic) runes. It could just be coincidence given that these shapes are easy to carve into stone or wood because they're mostly straight lines at different angles, but there are many round runes in the Orkhon script as well - so obviously being easy to carve is not the only thing that influenced the shapes. I wonder why they are so similar.
@@sunionbro8806 most Germanic tribes didn't live on the pontic steppe, the Goths lived in Scythia but much later than the xiongnu, and they made their own writing system which looks vastly different later on. in addition to this the orkhon script is dated from the 6th to 10th centuries, while elder futhark is dated 1st to 8th.
@@sunionbro8806 The huns invaded Europe in 4th century, Elder Futhark existed in Europe for 300 years already (1st century). I'm thinking that these runes are so similar to each other, Huns included, because these symbols are easy to carve - or because of a distant shared history with the Indo-Aryan people being a common ancestry group for everyone from Europe to India.
@@hyperthulean8649 these runes were also used to write on paper, metal plates.
I think this style of runic writing system is a natural result of the Taiga culture in which each one of them was born.
Most of the runic letters resemble the shape of trees and their natural branches/extensions that can be observed inside any Taiga environment. Initially, the ancient Turkic people weren't nomads, they were spread across large forests over many Asian mountain ranges - as told in the legendary Otuken mountain forest for example. Hence, they have come up with this style of runic writing system...

2:01 I heard a Meso-American (Aztec/Mayan) flute
I used a traditional Ney flute from the Middle-East, but you're right that it sounds similar to Meso-American flutes; not because of the instrument itself but the melody. Meso-American music and Turkic Siberian music both employ the Pentatonic scale, which has 5 notes in total, unlike most Western and Middle-Eastern scales which have 7. Music from Asia, Africa and Native American music have a tendency to work around the pentatonic scale, hence the similarity :p
