I own this car! I'm a bit fed up with peoples negative comments about Proton - its an excellent small car - has brilliant ride and handling for a city car and I've owned it 3 years and its been really reliable - leave Proton alone!
池沼林太郎....where you from???..... i..from malaysia had this car for a 10 year still good condition i always service on time.....but of course savvy using renault engine(D4f) from france....only savvy owner and pro mechanic know how 2 specialst it...
I am so sick of other reviews rating it's performance based purely on it's highway performance. You would not text a 4x4 based on it's city driving performance, you would not rate a sports car based on it's off road performance, so why would you rate a city care purley on it's highway capabilities. This is the first review to say that this car does what it is meant to do, and does it very well.
Just bought one used (2007) in Australia. Your description of the steering wheel is spot on. I found the gears really stiff, not in a bad way, still easy enough to change. Is this normal for this car ? It does hold the road very well on corners too, think I'm in love with it, although not 100% sure yet :/
@AZLAN210396, yeah i live in bukit damansara mate hence the savvy test drive, yeah buying cars here is a different issue, thats why i bought a classic mini instead of the crappy savvy
The only good thing about this car is the price and that it works well as a city car. To do short trips... You wouldn't set out in one of these on a 900 mile journey will you? The plastics are terrible. There is no other word for them. As for the first car thing... I guess so, if you just want something to get you from A to B... But for the sort of money this car cost when it was new, you could get an awesome second hand BMW. And if you are a petrolhead like me, you'd definitely get the older and cooler car.
i cant believe i managed to get through all of that video, unfortunately i have had the pleasure of driving the proton savvy and the reasons why you would buy one in the UK baffles me, get a second hand golf for half the price, hell if you have no real interest in driving why not buy metro for five hundred quid and be done with it, or maybe some roller skates
It's been 10 years now and I'm still love my Savvy.
You still got it?

My Proton used to break whilst I wasn't even using it. Park it up. Go back after a few days and something wouldn't be working. Strange car.
