Thanks for the video, ran into the same problem with that stupid spark plug and I lost the wrench years ago. I did figure out a little trick though, I took a regular 13/16" socket that was a junk one and heated it up with a blowtorch. Not crazy hot but hot enough to melt soft plastic. After I threaded the spark plug in as far as it could go by hand, I slipped the hot socket over the spark plug and wiggled it around through the plastic housing to stretch it out and align it so that a normal spark plug wrench and socket can fit through the housing without needing the funky factory one!
These little suitcase generators are great ! I used one on my son in laws off-grid property while caretaking for him. The right plug tool is a big deal, snapping the porcelain will put a real quick end to the show. Hope some great days for you all !
Thank you for two things. Production quality is much better not having two people talking. Also, thank you for being more caring for the environment. In previous video you were spilling oil on the ground, and the generator (then the ground). Well done.
Yes, you have the black gloves and fancy syringe, but wear is your lab coat? :-) That's quite brilliant really and you can measure exactly how much to know if it retrieved it all. Clever! But now you've gone ahead and dirtied two containers instead of one, Dr. Lol. I use starter fluid on the plugs then a small wire brush. Nice work. My girl's asking why I'm watching a generator video on a Sunday afternoon when I don't even own one. Told her was supporting the chan and found it informative. Have a good one, folks.
Nice video. To get as many micro particles out I am more than happy to turn it way on it's side & get every last drop of hot oil out. These have no oil filters on them & the sump is were particles collect over time. I know either way iwill work but when I put 1-2 thousand hours on my Hondas, I want the best care available.
Fluid extractors are awesome. I use the Mityvac 7400 on my wife’s Audi and my motorcycles all the time. You picked an excellent oil. Next time you might want to look at the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, which is also rated for extreme service. I prefer that, especially in engines with no oil filters. But, I also use it in my truck and wife’s car 👍. That oil is the only one that placed second to Amsoil in tests. Take care my friend .
Absolutely! Now that I discovered how good this method works it's a no brainer. Thanks for the advice with the oil, will definitely look into it. Have a great day!
I used up my quota of swear words for the year on that spark plug. You cleared this up. I don't know if my cousin has the socket but least I know now that I didn't have a stroke or something. I still want to slap an engineer.
Keep the small plastic oil container you get when you buy this gen. And use it to refill the correct amount of oil each time you do maintenance. Cheers
I fired a ngk BPR6HS into it before I even put gas in it. They were cheap, came in a two pack, and it said sport on the package. They even have a little "R" on them for race. Should put underglow and a fart pipe on it now. Should reduce my 0.25 mile time. I just got it today, I hope I don't regret it. Ran it for 30min at 1/2-3/4 load, put some 5w30 mineral in it and ran it for an hour at 1/2 and changed it again. I'll have to run it another 5-10hours then I'll put some 0w30 and fog it for storage.
We have a playlist on the generators and have done a lot of videos on sound as well since that seems to be a big part of using a generator. We've honestly put over a thousand hours on the generac since we purchased it. Probably more but it doesn't have any way to keep track. Up until the carburator going (and I only think that is what it was because I haven't had a chance to really do anything with it yet) it performed very well. Ran the ac in our little trailer with no problem. Also ran heat in the fall/early winter with no problem too!
Do you change the oil when it's warm? Iended up using rotella t6 5w40, I found thinner oil and certain brands had the generator using more oil than I thought was ok. I also like using brake clean on the spark plug to clean it up with what you did. Great video
Yes brake cleaner or something like that would have been good. I did not have any on hand.I will be changing the plug. The oil was cold when I drained it . I am using 5w 30 full synthetic because that's what the owner's manual calls for. Thanks for watching.
Maybe your forgetting or waiting too long to turn the choke to the run position. Or maybe the oil is low. It has a low oil cutoff. Also make sure gas cap vent is open.

Back on track with routine maintenance including a much easier, and less messy, way to change the oil! Thanks for watching :-)
Hey buddy. Can i put fresh oil in my generac and tru fuel and store it untill i need to use it next.

Brilliant! I love the syringe process. And the mustard container is also very helpful. Thanks!
I like your brute force and ignorance way better. Thank you for the very informative video.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Thank you so much glad to learn from someone who is smart.
*your videos always make me smile........................even an oil change*
Thanks :-)
Good heads up on saving the OEM spark plug wrench! 'cause regular wrench won't work that well.

Yes I agree I had to take the rubber insert out of the socket. Thanks for watching
Yup, funny how that can actually save it from breaking in those tight off-kilter holes.

Thank you guys this video answered my questions from the last comments of the last video that I saw

When you pour oil out of the bottle, keep the outlet “on top” so it does not “blurp” (technical term). Nice video
Thanks 👍
Great. Thank you for video
What used socket to spark plug, what size, what type?
I want to know too!!!

You can purchase a thin walled socket if you lose the original one also
Yes, I have one I got from harbor freight. It's a little thinner.
In the box did it come with oil and a spark plug socket? I don't know the size of the spark plug so when I go to change it I need to buy one
Did you found the size of the socket?

Run the generator to get the oil hot before removing
Ove watched two videos on the generator as Im interested in how many hours and how well its performed. Both videos showed oil changes....

✅use only non ethanol gas! Because:

Would you recommend a NGK iridium? I had them in my car and was told they will last 100,000 miles

Do these have an oil filter? If so where are they located? I have the iq3500
Ours has no filter, just a spark arrestor
Turn off background music while filming. Intro music is ok. It gets annoying during the whole video.
Would this work on my Generac GP 2500i ?
Probably
Dollar Tree measuring cup
That would work!
Hello, I got that generator. I'm having a problem. When I starting up it runs for 5 minutes and then it shutdown. Any ideas. Thanks for the help.

@@CreatingASimplerLifeOffGrid Thank You, i will check that.
Make sure you have gas mind would not start after 2 months of sitting drained gas and add fresh started right up
@@jameslopez4446 problem solved. Bad carburator. The warranty covered it. Thanks
Harbor freight makes a hand pump for that...
I will look next time I’m there👍 thanks
It should have 13.52 oz
Dont put the music on next time.
