My go to bass is a Squier jazz classic vibe in Olympic white from around 2010. I’ve put in American standard p/u’s, and an American pick guard and Schaller tuners. I does everything you could want out of a jazz bass and plays wonderfully! I have an American standard P bass, and a Gretsch Jet short scale, a Fender Kingman and a Fender short scale acoustic bass. I play the Squier all the time! Now, I’m primarily a guitar player, so I play bass at a jam, if there’s no other bass players, or for recording my own stuff.
