Yes, I have thought about this. So if you are sincerely open and will consider the logic, here it is. If you have already made up your mind, I have nothing to offer you. We are talking about what happened between 4 am and when Jimin finally fell asleep. JK was asleep when RM’s msg reached their chat group (he said so himself. He was too sleepy to wait for midnight and finish and send off letter he was drafting to ARMY). At that point, JM probably woke him up with excitement. They then called RM, and then the others. Jimin shared that he cried with Yoongi, till morning. The two were too excited to sleep. It was very clear that they were exchanging messages back and forth and “crying together”. It is understandable. Tae shared that JM was bawling and emotional. JK looked surprised because he went back to sleep unlike JM, so he missed the part where VMin was crying together. I watched JK staring at JM during the VLIve at that point: it was an intense and searching gaze, like saying “why did you cry with V when I was sleeping”, almost like a reproach, “why did you leave me out?” He had missed that precious moment. Anyway, as I said, it is what you are already disposed to think. I am NOT a young fan. I am in my 60s. I do not like shipping culture. I am trained in psychology and have worked professionally with youths for over 35 years. I am very concerned about how warped the distortion of perception is among shippers. This is because it reflects an unhealthy CYNICISM that clouds impartial observation. Life is not a morass of conspiracies and subterfuges. There is usually a simple explanation (principle of OCCAM’s Razor). Choose that lens, and it will bring clarity.

So it has been more than a month now since Jiminie’s account of the news breaking unleashed so much unreasonable and unwarranted hostility towards him. It is interesting to analyse what happened on the 2 platforms. On WeVerse, when sharing with fans, RM simply wanted to distract from JM’s hand up about breaking the news to JK. The team is still protective of their privacy, and ironically RM knew the sensitivity and possible fallout of such a detail). It was very clear to me that JM made several phone calls, to Yoongi, to Tae, to RM (the sequence is not clear). It was clear too from JK’s response that he did not participate or listen in to all the phone calls (Jiminie couldn’t sleep till morning, remember!). At the press conference, this time because HE WAS ASKED, Jiminie couldn’t quite avoid the detail of who he was with at that time of night. Not being specific would have robbed us of the authenticity of the moment. He shared the excitement of caressing their phone screens in disbelief, and shared how they called the others, and then deflected attention by acknowledging RM for being key to their success. Jiminie’s refusal to stand down and fudge over the truth is very important. It is him being true to himself. He claimed the moment. He usually defers to RM’s leadership, but it was important for him to reiterate that “he was with Jungkook”, and there was nothing anyone could say or do to change that, because he is SO PROUD of their bond and togetherness.
