Exactly as far as I'm concerned the Aunt caused it all to happen. Because if she got Peter the help that he needed. Instead of making him basically become his dead sister. Obviously all of what happened could have been avoided. So Peter is the most tragic victim of all. Because of the atctions his aunt took he ended up completely losing his mind altogether. Angela's creepy dead-eye stare was very effective. My favorite kill is the boil, although, we don't know that he died. He definitely deserved his fate more than anyone else in the movie. The runner up is the arrow through the neck. I didn't see that coming and was a fantastically surprising effect. There were no "oh noes" in this review. ;) I guess the movie didn't bring forward any real threatening situations enough to warrant an "oh no."
This movie played on TV all the damn time when I was a kid (late 80s/early 90s). The only thing about this movie I remember is the ending...that left a mark.
So glad you watched this movie. This has a pretty big cult following because the ending is so unique. Must do The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) for this month!
I have seen behind the scenes and making of this movie and the characters who played Kenny, Billy, Meg, Judy were all saying how hard it was to play the bad guys but it was good to see how well they all got along off set and the fun they had.
I first saw this at a friend's house when it was first released on video cassette. I think my favorite kill was the curling iron scene. In my opinion, the most memorable, and probably the most fitting, since Judy was so promiscuous. Angela got her right where it hurt the most.
Mrs. Movies, your expressions were priceless.. Oh my god!!! I will rewatch this a few times to laugh again.. Thank you both. The head cook was James Earl Jones' dad.
"Angelia" mom didn't want her to do the murders so it was really Ricky's hands that are shown. That older black chef is James Earl Jones' brother - aka Darth Vader
This is crazy weird movie. Interesting to see you two finding out about each other's past... Wife I've never been to summer, the look on hubby's face. I didn't see the ending coming.
Oh, that scene with Angela being pointed at by the boy in the bed was her fighting the realization that she was really a boy. It was him telling herself, "You're not really a girl...why you're kissing/stop kissing that boy". That's some S+ tier 80's trauma right there. BTW, if you liked this, in your free time you should check out a 1980 flick called "Dressed to Kill" starring Michael Caine and directed by Brian De Palma...lol, trust me.
Angelas thousand yard stare is the stuff of legend. Just one critique, let the Mrs figure stuff out instead of telling her the brother dies(even if it was good to not to give it away). BTW, Ricky's psycho behavior definitely influenced Angela.
I don't know how often you get comments like this, but I love the dedication you have to your iconic look that you've cut holes in your cowboy hat for your headphones, lol.
if you pay attention, it is implied if not outright stated that a number of campers have pulled out, in other words, they left. so when they say there are only 25 left, they are saying the rest of the campers have withdrawn/left camp to go home. even as a kid, I understood this was what they were saying. Also, there was supposed to be a mystery as to who was the killer, it was being implied that it was Ricky. His quick to anger, always coming to Angela's defense, his mother telling him to take care of her, all of it was supposed to point to him as the potential killer.

Mrs Movies reaction at the end was better than I thought it'd be. Classic
Holy crap, like her take on the ghost of the dead sibling may be the best alt ending I've EVER heard of
On the "Carpenter's Dream" comment, well yes I am sure there was wood involved in the mornings.
I have seen behind the scenes and making of this movie and the characters who played Kenny, Billy, Meg, Judy were all saying how hard it was to play the bad guys but it was good to see how well they all got along off set and the fun they had.
This movie gets funnier with each viewing.
I first saw this at a friend's house when it was first released on video cassette. I think my favorite kill was the curling iron scene. In my opinion, the most memorable, and probably the most fitting, since Judy was so promiscuous. Angela got her right where it hurt the most.
She's French? I love these two so much! I know shes not dumb and she's just crackin wise. She does it so well! Y'all keep it up!
Mrs. Movies, your expressions were priceless.. Oh my god!!! I will rewatch this a few times to laugh again.. Thank you both. The head cook was James Earl Jones' dad.
You mean the new head cook, right? Wasn't the head cook originally the big dude who gets burned by the boiling water? 🤔
The Burning is a pretty good 80s summer camp slasher too.
Yes!!! The real Angela died and Peter survived and his crazy Aunt crossed dress hom as a girl.
Part 2 movie she finally completed her "niece's" transition
"Angelia" mom didn't want her to do the murders so it was really Ricky's hands that are shown. That older black chef is James Earl Jones' brother - aka Darth Vader
This is crazy weird movie. Interesting to see you two finding out about each other's past... Wife I've never been to summer, the look on hubby's face. I didn't see the ending coming.
I freakin' LOVE "Sleepaway Camp"! Campy, cheesy, bizarre, over the top goodness. All that AND I get to see a wee-wee!
Aww! You completely missed your chance to say "Welcome back to you me and the moobies" at 16:15!
Lol love the reaction to that ending. Mine was about the same. Knew Angela was the killer but the reveal… lol
Your not an IDOIT, we love your commentary. Keep up the great job. You two are some of my favorite reactors.
The ending broke my then 9 year old brain.
I had heard there was a twist ending in this movie, but I didn't know they'd go for THAT
Oh, that scene with Angela being pointed at by the boy in the bed was her fighting the realization that she was really a boy.
'Visitor Q' (Directed by Takashi Miike) would make for an ultra weird reaction. It would actually top this one for horror / bizarreness.
Mr Movies, master editor. The closing in on the Mrs during the big reveal... May even be better than the big reveal ☺️
9:02 whoa that was quick.
I think you should get Mrs Movies to try rocking Judy's side ponytail
I’m so excited to see how the reveal goes over lol what an iconic movie
This film is all round hilarious without even trying to be. And Mel looks like Sid James from the Carry On films, with the voice of a mobster.
Fun fact: the black camp cook is the real life father of James Earl Jones. You can definitely tell- they shared the same deep voice.
Oh. The Aunt is the scariest thing in this movie.
Felissa Rose was 14 when she played Angela. They had to find a small build man of 18 or over for the naked scene.

We need more Ricky's in the world :) my hero.
This movie had the wildest twist I've ever seen😂 Absolutely never saw the ending coming, and I can't imagine the shock people who saw this brand new in the 80s had😂 Wildest ending freaking ever😂😂
I love that crazy aunt
0:57 i can relate i'm one of those "crazy" uncles so to speak hahaha
i’m glad more people are watching/discovering this film it’s a true 1980’s buried treasure it’s not a Oscar type film but, it’s so over the top and fun! it’s also a very early “indie film” that gained the cult status due to the VHS boom! (That VHS box art was really awesome) hopefully you guys do the two follow up sequels which are a bit generic but, also really good for 80’s slasher flicks 👍👍👍❤️
Awesome glad you enjoyed and one of the best WTF moments in horror History
You guys gonna watch the direct sequel return to Sleepaway camp? Would love to see your reaction on that truly horrible movie lol
