Yep. Potato is "pomme de terre," or "apple of the earth"--but maybe when they know which one they're talking about they just shorten it to "pomme"? A native speaker will have to let us know.

Big Dream it depends on where you live. In france,a potato is gonna be call "Pomme de terre" but in Quebec,where I live,sometimes we call it "pomme de terre" but "patate" is the most use.
"Potato" in French is "pomme de terre" and we never shorten it. But it's quite formal so we often say "patate" just as in Quebec 😊

this is QUALITY content. I laughed sooo hard. Carla is so patient, and Hailee asked all the right questions, she actually did pretty well but i still think this was so difficult
I feel so bad for her. She's totally a visual learner. People can give me instructions verbally all day long for things like this and I'll just be lost. It's a hard thing to deal with.

The word "lengthwise" would have helped a lot earlier.

I'm sure Carla said "lengthwise" or "the long side" but they just cut it out. You'll notice if you watch carefully there are lots of edits in these videos where the guest has something incorrect and then jump cut and now it's fixed. I'm sure this took longer than 15 minutes to film.

coco bork it she just catches her mistakes on time and admits to them to get the correct help she needs. Lots of others will do something wrong then continue on

At 12:04 Hailee's oil temp is only at 251F rather than the proper 325F as was the chef's. No wonder her batch wasn't cooking as quickly as the chef's batch. First, they give her the wrong ruler then they give her the lowest temperature cooking oil. She was being sabotaged! 😂
