      Bikramjeet Walia
      The watch only takes picture as far as your wrist is that means you can only take photos of your head and shoulders. I really wonder how you gonna take a picture while driving down hill with your watch or mauntain climbing. Id love a small quadcopter that can follow you around and take pictures when you command it. Like the video said i dont have a personal photograph with me all the time.

    There are a lot of "new" products introduced on a daily basis but few are truly innovative in that sort of goose pimples on the back of my neck, involuntary grin, head nodding sort of way. This really made me sit up and take note. I wish Team Nixie success.

    when I see stuff like the Nixie and realize I am still at school, I get the feeling that by the time I leave school and become a parent, we will be the technology of everyday.
    The Nixie and many other project are amazingly beautiful, thank you for giving us the opportunity to see it from the beginning :)

    If you put a small processor in a wrist bracelet that interacts wirelessly with the quad-copter, you could totally toss a learning algorithm onto the copter to always be able to locate you for the perfect image. That might be what they intend to do already, but this is super sweet!

    So in a motorcycle accident, it flies off your wrist when you impact a car, then records you crashing head first into the windshield and automatically uploads the video of your final moment to RUclips. Cool.

    Sounds very interesting and promising; rather than wrapping around the wrist, with its propellers vulnerable. Why not make it part of a helmet or hat, or create some landing pad on the top of the person's head that does not look conspicuous, perhaps a transparent crown like base.

    better as an armband and silicone enclosure - that allows it to be slightly heavier and better quality, avoids it getting in the way of your activity, and can include a lightweight silicon cover/holder.

    Wow! Nicely done. Genius design. Flexible, wrist worn quad. There are so many possible uses, even beyond the "wear-able flying Go-Pro" usage of it, which is still amazing. I've been thinking about it only for a minute or two now and I've thought up about 2 dozen uses (from a tool of safety, to a tool for navigating a city, etc.)
    Even if you guys don't win, you're sure to find backers to make that thing a commercial reality and success. But your creation is amazing an I'm pulling for you!

    That's raw, they should add like a microphone on it so that way you can command it. For example, command it to take a photo 5 feet away from you, also the mic could be used as audio for videos.

    This device could actually be great in case of an emergency.
    Whether it be you getting robbed or stuck in a place with no way to get out of due to small spaces.
    Basically, its an SOS call.
    Record a message or video, send it flying.
    In camping or hiking grounds, it'll flash an SOS in Morse code for any ranger to read, The ranger will go towards that device, and signal it through a device only emergency responders use, it'll come down, play the message/video for guidance to the rescue.
    In a city or town, it would fly to the nearest emergency center or checkpoint to relay a message to the emergency rescuers.
    Though, the only problem I may find with it is its battery use, I don't know how long it can stand out or anything because I've never used such a thing before.
    Does this idea of using these Nixies for such a purpose a good idea?

      The video is fucking awesome! How many times have you done something crazy and you didn't have someone to video it or would never get a good angle of it? There are so many situations you can never have a personal cameraman following you around. If you're gonna use it just to take selfies with the drone in front of you, that's stupid. But you obviously missed the point. This is GoPro to the next level...

  • @jonathanosterman7530
    @jonathanosterman7530 10 лет назад +3

    I like this idea. However, what if Team Nixie were to use the same basic idea, but turn it into a necklace. The the bands of the Necklace clip together in the back via magnetism, the camera is in the center along with the motor, and when you take it off and toss it, the motor in the center of the piece spins the bands of the necklace - turning it into a helicopter.

    1. Should have a thin circumference-guard on each propeller
    2. Should auto-wrap around your wrist, (like 'memory-metal')
    3. Should be much smaller, a 'bee', sit-on-your-shoulder kind
    4. Should listen, talk back (ant-squeak), sniff for chemicals,...

    Great idea guys & you nailed it on the head!
    Everyone will benefit with this for personal use at home, work or play.Business people of all kind, active outdoor/indoor people, police, firemen, emt's, coast gaurd , schools etc.
    Yes a charger would be great and have a location tracking system for those who might go alone on there adventures & can get in trouble somewhere alone. Again Great idea! Best of Luck!

  • @vladoportos
    @vladoportos 10 лет назад +23

    Its cute and all, but not sure how you going to solve practically the props around wrist, it will not be very comfortable... how about this: make a wearable holder that sits on back of your shoulder ( basically on you back so its not like a pirate parrot :) but still easily reachable by hand ) where you can put the small quad, I don't know use strong magnets or dry-zip to hold it there. Also include remote charging battery in the holder as the small drone will nee to recharge after it take the photo... You can saw this to coat, or make 3 point back holder ( like on gun ) ... thank you and good night ( I also accept Nobel price by mail :) )

    • @Adam-zf8ey
      @Adam-zf8ey 10 лет назад

      I concur that it could be somewhat inconvenient, but it could still go on the wrist, perhaps if the propellers were more enclosed? Or it could possibly move away from the wrist, and further up the arm? What do you think?

    • @vladoportos
      @vladoportos 10 лет назад +2

      Adam Holliday thats possibility, or it can retract the arm, I made quick sketch of what I mean here imgur.com/a/Wew3j it would be a disk basically that can attach to anything, arm, back, leg etc... twist the two halves and arms will extend, press one button on the top it will fly to predefined distance from you, turned around, took picture and went back... twist the case back and arms retract... now somebody get on to that :D

    4 concerns:
    1) Will it auto-stabilize the image and keep the quality nice and crisp in moderately high turbulence/winds?
    2) Mounted LED spot-lighting for late-afternoon/evening shots?
    3) Does the wearer need to wear some sort of homing beacon so the drone can land EXACTLY back on the wearer's wrist?
    4) Will the drone be smart enough to tell if the wearer wants to include a large group of people in the shot.... will it know when to zoom-out automatically? Like let's say i'm not the only one climbing a cliff.... but 12 people are also climbing with me.... each of us maybe more than 3 feet apart from each other?
