Temper your gear first before changing any affix on your gear. I wasted so much money trying to get cooldown on a helm then bricking it by the blacksmith. Tempering is random so careful.
Tempering can take a positive experience in finding that epic drop and turn it into a drop in your stomach because it gets bricked... Hope they take another look at tempering to either allow you to keep a temper roll that is more preferable or a way to reset the limit.
Diablo 4 really need to put more information in their quests. Got the Masterworking Quest and all it says is masterwork a piece of gear at the blacksmith, and yet it is locked. Quest should explain the steps, rather than leaving us in the dark. Thanks for your vid, I’ll give it a try.

Blizzard needs to learn how to add I master work and article that has 310 close damage at a 5% increase. I should get an increase of 15 instead I get an increase of 10.
Masterwork says "All affixes increased by 5%", except strenght is incresed by 3.3% and 16.7% instead of 25%. Maybe the same problem is with dexterity, intelligents and willpower? Barbarian.

tempering in a nutshell: Find your ideal 3 star greater affixed item. Roll it with tempers. All temper rolls didnt get you the 2x basic tempers you needed for your build. Just bricked your item and wasted your playing time farming an item just to throw it away. A simple fix would be to introduce “reset tempers”. Guess that will be for season 7
You’re supposed to have a trash piece of gear and temper it 3-4 then on the 4th or 5th roll use your greater affix piece. If the temper you want is shown on the first or second try with the trash piece just restart the count and use other trash pieces if needed. To summarize if you use the trash piece for first 3 tempers and those 3 are not the temper you’re after. The odds of the temper you want will come on the next temper. So swap your good piece of gear in for the 4th temper. Plenty of videos out there with this strategy. I use it and it works.

My question is...why is rare gear only dropping with 2 affixes on it? Just to sell now or salvage for parts? Because there's no point in applying affixes to make them legendary anymore.
Personally I like the new system once you start doing hell tides on world tier 4 and sit right on top of one of the ritual areas usually a bunch of players will gravitate to it and just keep on respawning the boss there and it's just so many Cinders and so much gear that you get that fuck all the little rare stuff you'll get a ton of legendaries that will max out your entire inventory.

Because at ranks 4, 8 and 12 a random affix will be boosted by 25%. So if you’d prefer something else to be boosted by 25% you can keep resetting until you are satisfied
I hate tempering and madterworking in this game i wish they would have kept it how it was before... Idk even kno how to imprint stuff on my gear. I just want all the good changes of season 4 and for them to remove all the bad changes. Other then tempering im having a blast finally being able to play minion necro and it finally be good been minion necro since day 1. Loving the season.
You are one of the very few who thinks that way. I recommend you read up and watch videos on it to have a better understanding. In my own opinion. Game is much more fun now.

Some items, especially ancestral can have 2 or maybe more tempered stats at a time. Check if it says tempered 1/2 or something like that anywhere on the item in the tempered blacksmith screen. I highly recommend not using all your rerolls before checking that.

I didn't have to do the pit to unlock master working. It unlocked after I did all the iron wolves rep rewards and NM dung tier 46+...
46 ND for unlock, but you need Pit materials for the actual masterworking
Which piece of gear do you recommend to max master working first?

only rares do that, u now need to farm legendary gears for that 3 affixes and 2 temper goodness
Yeah truly made useless...not a great system when there's zero usage for common magic and rares other than mats. Like nothing to look for even.

if its a lengendary ancestral item, you need to first temper it twice (use both temper slots)
have to get upgrade items from the "pit" dungeons now
