Do you know how to technically play those fast Jaco 16th note funk grooves in the lower register and make it cook? Just hit the play button and learn how to do this... the proper way!

I used to talk to Jaco when he hung out on the ball courts in the Village, occasionally he’d play on Bleeker with a pig nose
Then my friend started playing with him and Hiram and Kenwood. The end was sad.
I never wanted to play like him (I know my limits)and most people I’ve seen try can never nail the pocket.
I wanted to mention the other insane finger style funk player of the time in NYC, Jamaladeen Tacuma , he always killed me.
Thanks for these videos Joe, I really appreciate them.

16th notes are essential! Start out slowly, because they're harder than you think. It's all about consistency while adding ghost notes and hammer-ons. Great lesson!

Awesome!! I have been looking for someone to actually demonstrate what you just did for awhile now and you just nailed it! You are the king!!

Another winner, Joe. Your finger strength and consistency really make these lines shine. @bassbuffricky ain't wrong when he says start out slowly.

Great lesson Joe. Also reminded me of Rocco Prestia from Tower of Power.

Me personally, when a guy plays a note every three minutes, I lose interest. FYI you can slow youtube videos down.

Haaa- with that logic, if a guy plays on a 3-minute pop tune, you're only expecting one note? Classic!
