Great review. I used to love the Glenrothes Sherry cask as a value bottle. Loved that single cask you guys brought to the Deanston dinner. May have to give this one a shot sometime.
One of these days I will branch out and try some bottles from this distillery. Great review!
Nicely done gentlemen, the Glenrothes 18 I have yet to see since the vintages are still about in my area. Maybe when the age stated version come out I will them a try. Cheers to the best drams!
Another awesome review guys. Glenrothes was one of my first ever whiskies, think it was the Select Reserve.
Not tried the 18. The others haven't ever really blown me away but I can imagine it is one distillery where independent bottles would be better than their core range.
(PS I'll be that pronunciation guy again. The middle part of the name is pronounced like raw, rather than row.)
Great review as always, gents! :-)
My what a difference 4 years makes. I'm watching this in 2022, and I'd bet $120 for this today would be a steal today.
Super cool distillery. The bottles are designed after old school medicine bottles. However, the Whisky Maker's Cut is so much better to me. It's also at 48.8%. Helps a ton! The new line is awesome! You guys nailed this bottle! Try the Maker's Cut!
Oh and it's Glen-roth-es. Like "Roth IRA"
The makers cut is sitting on the bar. It’s coming up

you guys are so unbelievable cool greetings from germany a big fan
glenrothes 12 was one of my first drams :)
Hey 42LGK, we really enjoy scotch and like to have fun. We're pretty sure that shines through, but we're also trying to provide good content and continue the conversation around scotch. Hope to see you around the live shows on Thursday nights! ~Mark
Glad these are natural color now because I've enough of the young NAS Glenrothes that had that artificial caramel taste that really muted them. I tried the new 12yo @ $44 and it is better but still light style-wise but that is the distillery profile, they soar @ 20+ years but $$$$. Great review guys.
They’ve never used artificial coloring. Not even in the reserves
@@neilstucky6265 My mistake
it's all good. SOOOOOO many use artificial coloring these days that it is easy to make the mistake
I love this bottle. Its $108 around me. Its a solid 3.0 in my book. Im just happy andrew didnt hate it, lol.
And where is that?
I’ve had a few bottles of Glenrothes over the past couple of years and they all improved as the bottle went down and oxidized a bit. Not sure if that will happen to your bottling, or even if you guys can leave it alone long enough to oxidize ;-)
that's the tough part Frank, lol.
You guys did the Sherry Cask also...
This is great! Also can you please review BENROMACH 10!? I can’t get over how great it is for the price !
Looks like we'll have to get it reviewed!
Pretty sure they’ve had more than 44 bottlings. Where’d u get that info from ?
What american is back ther? Is it Jack Daniels sinatra seleckt?
Glenroth-es Andrew. No "O" involved.
Solid review with an explanation of the new line, but it’s distracting that u mangle the name lol. The new line is very hit or miss. I preferred the vintages b/c of their ex bourbon cask influence. That’s now been totally eliminated from the line
we're always screwing up pronunciations... but I do agree with you on the vintages and special single casks bottlings! ~Mark
Thanks for the response. Glenrothes seems to be undoing what made them unique. It’s odd, and I’m curious how sales will be impacted by eliminating vintages which had a niche audience that devoured them. I also do NOT get why they’ve gone sherry exclusive. Ex bourbon casks add a ton of flavor
Everybody is doing the price creep.... higher..... higher... new packaging.... Higher..... Higher... more marketing... HigherR... HigherR.... new labels and bottles....HIGHER... HIGHER...
16:13 That's what she said :-D
Would be better if the guy in the front left would decide what he is going to say before he starts talking...
Not sure he's capable of that....lol ~Mark
