Got my N3 goggles on a day that was very cold and misty. Couldn't wait for good weather, had a blast with my Neo in that weather. It handled it like a pro. Keep all videos of all drones coming! Love them all!
I just ordered the goggles and remote for my NEO after watching your video. Now I just have to learn to use it. (Im a longtime regular remote guy) Ill be rewatching your older stuff to help. I have goggles, etc for my Mini Pro 3 and 4 but havent used that setup much, frankly because I was too nervous about breaking them. The fact that the NEO is so forgiving makes it a great learning platform. I appreciate your "investigations".
Thanks for making this video, I myself have not had the neo for that long either. Meanwhile the weather is so bad that sometimes I wonder why I go outside at all, let alone fly my drone.
Had the Neo for a few weeks, fairly impressed. Two things needed IMHO - I fly with just the iOS app on this drone so a sharpen reduction setting would be handy plus exposure lock, and… some kinda return to home, when flying with just the app in manual model and you fly to far and lose signal the Neo just sits in the air lol :-)
elite flying mate especially in the BnQ car park , looks abit like BnQ in Poole😁 but with them flying skills you would do well in the RAF taking the Eurofighter Typhoon out for a spin , though a bigger BnQ carpark would be needed🤣🤣🤣
Haha thanks. I actually didn’t even show footage of me flying much closer to cars as I’m sure the drone police would have had a moan about it (even with a 130g piece of flying plastic)
I was flying Neo near a river recently and lost signal due to mountains, it was in tracking mode, Neo drifted into the side of the mountain and slipped down into the river. It was under water for about 30 seconds. I thought it was over with this little guy. 5 days later Neo is still working great!
@ sure is! I had the avata 2 and the mini 4 pro last year, they are also great drones, I am really enjoying this little guy, I can put everything in my jacket pockets and jump on the motor bike and go! Appreciate your video and look forward to more, cheers mate
Glad you’re enjoying the videos. Yes in manual mode it can go over water absolutely fine but a lot of caution is required in other GPS modes as explained in my other video 👍
im a fpv guy but ordered my neo yesterday! cool little drone and good advice mate! just a fyi to anyone looking this drone argus in the uk has a huge sale on this drone down to£ 119 for the drone (from £169)and £240 for drone and remote down from £299
The air flow design looks everything but suitable to fly under the rain, since engines are constantly sending water though the vents into the motherboard. I have flown it a few times under a light rain tho, and haven't experienced issues so far.
@@_gelon definitely wouldn’t recommend it but it’s fun to see what happens if you do and the Neo’s price tag makes it more appealing than say a Mavic 3 or air3 to try this!
Great video, and interesting to see what the neo is capable of.....I have to test mine out more, but as I'm a newbie to drones, I don't think I'll be flying mine in those conditions 😂
@@LifeinLancashire absolutely - please don’t try this unless you’re prepared for the risk. The Neo does behave a bit unpredictably close to the ground in gps modes when dark or surfaces are poor textures
If you look at the rear fan ducts there are vent holes, this is (I assume) a design feature to cool the PCB and circuitry with sacrificial fan air pressure. Flying in inclimate weather will undoubtedly push moist air over the pcb which is a receipe for disaster. I would not fly the Neo in the rain. You tricked me! You said "launch it in manual mode", yet had the RC2 in your hand lol Then it switched to the goggle view immediately. Nice flying. I just got the goggles n3 and fav controller and its a blast to fly in manual.
@@dronewilder5234definitely the latter. One big takeaway from my crash is that if I'm not fully focused, if I'm indecisive on the controls, don't take off or at least don't try to be clever. The video of the crash is on my channel. 😂
Yeah it’s not the best flying conditions- even today I was trying to film a video on camera settings and high winds made it tough to actually create good looking footage!!
Loving your Neo videos they are great! I'm completely new to drones and just picked one of these up! When you say "No ND" & "ND8" im assuming your referring to filters for camera... I wasnt aware that filters were available for the Neo, please advise where you got your filters from. Like you i'm in the UK and generally have no need for filters but when that day comes I'd like the option of fitting some.... if/when necessary. 😂

Thank you for this, as a uk resident myself, I’ve been trying to use my neo and my recently acquired avata 2 but the weather has been quite bad especially with the storm that just went by. Nice to know that light rain isn’t an issue for the neo. Any recommendations on spots to go fpv flying? I’m in London
@@PetkoKolev00 yeah I did this one at the tail end of last weekends storm. The avata 2 will handle a fair bit more wind than the Neo. Flying spots not sure about London itself but so much coastal area nearby that’s worth flying at so hard to pinpoint anything in particular
The strobe was just an attempt to stay legal as they are required for night flying in the uk. It does also help spot the drone if for example you need to switch to controlling it back in 3rd person view.
May I make a suggestion? "RC Compatibility" You have all the gear. It would be great to use the RC2 or RC-N3 with the Goggles 3 on the Neo and Air 3 or (S). So guest could see what I'm seeing also. Can it be done wired or wireless?
@@DarR1299 with the goggles 3 you can do wireless screen share. Is that what you mean? All the guest needs is to install the Dji fly app and they can watch a shared feed from the pilots goggles
Looks better without the ND8 filter I know that cinematically a lot of people prefer the lower shutter speed, but it looks like the NEO video quality suffers when the ISO moves away from the 100 ISO. I am looking forward to having a good fly with my NEO in FPV stabilised mode and full FPV in the future. I have flown it in FPV Beginner Mode for 15 minutes so far and it's great fun :) Nice to see it flying well in the dark car park :)
@@woodydroneson yes I agree in this instance the non-ND footage looked better. Strong winds can cause micro jitters which cause blurring at 1/60fps and make stabilisation a bit washy and unstable. I recommend faster shutter speeds and ignoring the 180 rule in such windy conditions with this and small drones.
Soooo much jjitter and distortion from Gyroflow. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but i prefer Rocksteady (on non-Neo drones that dont have the yaw stabilization issue). Less distortions, and yes you do get slightly less smooth footage, but to me that actually "feels" more real without being shaky and obnoxious. If my footage is slightly shaky during a turn, it just conveys the strong winds and how hard the drone fights. Not negatives in my opinion.
@@Baleur yeah you’re right in windy conditions you are better off either using higher shutter speeds eg 1/120 or as you say in certain situations rocksteady can produce better results but it does crop in very heavily on the Neo so it’s give and take a bit.
So I'm looking to do a bit of night flying and I'd like to know if the blinker is necessary for doing so. I was planning on using manual mode to fly at night but I'm wondering if sports mode would work as well, despite being maybe a bit drifty.
@@ConnorDea the flashing light is more just a legal requirement for night flying in most countries but it also helps give a bit of reassurance where the drone is at a glance. Regarding flying modes, I’ve actually got a video about to release where I look at night flying the Neo and what I can say is if you’re able to fly FPV, you will get much better video quality from it because the digital zoom correction in sport and normal modes causes some annoying artifacts if flying with RCN3 or RC2, Can get some ok shots though.
I flew mine when it was damp and foggy ….did the rocket automated without controller …it went up but didn’t come back down …..I got my phone out and tried to connect to it …managed to get it back …I think the camera misted up and it couldn’t see me
I took mine out after a snow storm. Calm but a uniform layer of white on the ground. It immediately flew off into a tree in direction track mode. I think I'll stick to flying with the controller instead.
I bought the n3 goggles last week with the motion controller so my brother who can only use 1 hand can fly it too. So no manual mode for now. Maybe in the near future

How is it possible that you can fly over the water by the sea, what adjustments must be made to make it go, for example over a lake 1m above the water. Thank you, I am waiting for your reply😊
To fly that low over water I would recommend using manual mode in FPV which does take a bit of practice but gives you the lowest risk of the drone behaving unpredictably. To fly over water in GPS modes (such as with the RC2 or RC-N3) I have done another video to explain how to do it although it’s never risk free. Most important things are - wait for a solid, stable GPS link and avoid flying too low over water
Next week: "Can the Neo fly during a torrential thunderstorm?" The week after that: "Can a Neo that was hit by lightning 17 times last week fly in a tornado? What if we make it carry a Double Decker bar? And what if we make it carry an _actual_ double decker?"
@@luciddreamyworld it’s really important I point out here that it should not be flown on the rain. My tests showed that you may get away with it and some very light spitting of rain should be fine but flying in rain does carry risk of damage so it’s at the owners own responsibility.
I just sold my neo after two weeks, I'm impressed but it's really bad in dark environments but really extremely bad it bangs into everything. otherwise good.
@@MrKnocker07 it’s a bit temperamental on certain conditions for sure. Fpv is fine in manual mode but even a few take offs in normal mode o did in the dark where a bit weird
@@dronewilder5234 I wouldn't recommend it either but its so tempting. We are currently at -17C with light snow and 37km/hr wind. Actually nearly lost Neo yesterday to a garbage bagger man walking by while I was drone shoveling, guy took a swing at the drone with his garbage bag. very bad drone.I have the same and always need long time to lock satellites.📡 and during the flight it never locks 12 satellites 😢 I am disappointed. and it constantly loses its meaning and remains motionless in the air instead of finding it later. one of the worst drones I've ever bought waste of money.Shame Of you Dji🤮

Take it at your own pace and you’ll find it fine. In calm conditions the Neo flies really nicely even for a first timer

Totally agree with those two points!
Sharpening adjustment is a big request to DJI. That and the Neo battery size being a tad too small.
I only wish for the pro camera settings on the Android/iOS apps.
The best channel to learn to fly DJI Neo and other drones too..

This Neo is a little caped crusader hero, impressive that it can handle such conditions. So dark and nasty in the UK, but good experimentation.

I’m going to take a closer look into this as k believe there’s maybe more ways to mitigate this from happening too (to an extent)

@ it’s under the drone body - the weight is not much more than the removable prop guards so if you take them off it’s almost unnoticeable
So i want to travel to another country how can i fly without using my data with the neo?
You should be able to fly in more or less any country. Or do you mean you don’t want your logs to show you flew in that country?

How do I switch from sport mode to manual mode while flying?
@@wacnarobiacy7306 do you have goggles and remote controller 3? You need to go into controller settings and set manual mode to the c1(?) switch

No it’s a specific drone night flying light - this one weighs 6g and didn’t affect flying performance

can neo really fly in the rain? does it harm the drone ?
@@luciddreamyworld it’s really important I point out here that it should not be flown on the rain. My tests showed that you may get away with it and some very light spitting of rain should be fine but flying in rain does carry risk of damage so it’s at the owners own responsibility.

@ in that case the remote 3 is a great addition. I currently have zero affiliation with Dji but I’d always recommend the actual remote for flying FPV

I just sold my neo after two weeks, I'm impressed but it's really bad in dark environments but really extremely bad it bangs into everything. otherwise good.
@@MrKnocker07 it’s a bit temperamental on certain conditions for sure. Fpv is fine in manual mode but even a few take offs in normal mode o did in the dark where a bit weird

@@dronewilder5234 I wouldn't recommend it either but its so tempting. We are currently at -17C with light snow and 37km/hr wind. Actually nearly lost Neo yesterday to a garbage bagger man walking by while I was drone shoveling, guy took a swing at the drone with his garbage bag. very bad drone.I have the same and always need long time to lock satellites.📡 and during the flight it never locks 12 satellites 😢 I am disappointed. and it constantly loses its meaning and remains motionless in the air instead of finding it later. one of the worst drones I've ever bought waste of money.Shame

@@lukimalin sorry to hear that - yes image quality and video quality is not its strength. I’m about to post a video on best video settings but admittedly even then there are limits to what it can do
