Watching watch repair is extremely relaxing, there's just something really satisfying about the reassembly and it being eager to carry on ticking as soon as the balance wheel is put back in and nudged.

You make it look so easy, I tried to take apart and re-assemble a pocket watch and ended up breaking a jewel and damaging the escapement wheel. It is amazing to see a bunch of dead pieces coming together and forming a piece of art with a heartbeat.
Very nicely done; the photography is outstanding and the steps are very clear. I'm watching excellent videos such as yours and plucking up the courage to tackle my grandfather's watch which has been stopped for decades.
If the watch has any sentimental value have one recommendation: don’t. If you’re interested in the Hobby start with something cheap and you wouldn’t expect your first service to come out perfect. Things are easy broken and finding parts for very old watches is a total pain. Get yourself a cheap Chinese movement (something like a seagull st36) and tear that thing down as often as you want. If it still works once you put it back together you did a good job.
@@Jonas_GD_1234 Excellent advice; I looked inside and when I saw signs of some liquid inside along with a non-functioning mainspring barrel, I closed it up again and will get it repaired professionally.
Very nice repair, few small recommendations: Use brass tweezers to prevent damage and use less grease to lube the barrel as the stuff will gunk up and that ain't so good, also before fitting the pallets its a good idea to let the watch run by just winding up the barrel to let the oils sink into the jewels properly and please take off the balance and spring to properly clean and oil the endstones.
Thanks for the tips, yeah typically I'll grease a little more on larger watched like this and I do let the watch run prior to putting the pallets in but sadly didn't record it. And I'll be sure to do a full strip down of the balance where necessary in future vids :)

Could you kindly advise as exactly which type of oil you often use to lubricate the main spring barrel & any non-jeweled bearings? I'm a newbie in horology and I often use Moebius 941 and D5 respectively, dunno whether it is proper?
Please don’t oil the balance jewels like that... the amount of oil you applied with the big yellow oiler is probably enough for 5-6 watches. The oil will displace all over making the hairspring stick and leaving the balance pivots running dry.
There is no AutoCAD hundred years ago， I wonder how the watchmakers made the movements and parts so precisely ? What kind of machines and tools they were used ?
Very detailed work! I love that. Excuse my ignorance in watches but I noticed between minutes 1:14 and 14:27 that the waved washer was reversed, was there a reason for that?
So the way I put it on is how I've always put them on. I've occasionally seen them on like that at 1:14, and tho I reverse it to how I put them on, I don't really think it effects its function.
Not Shown so must ask: Time grapher showed +20 seconds per day. Did you adjust the regulation to lower this? Even if only a 7 jewel watch, it is capable of under +/- 5 seconds a day. Surprising you did not remove the balance wheel then the ballance jewel to clean and lube it. Never seen someone lube that jewel the way you did. I hope it works. "The new main spring didn't slide in, so I removed it and hand wound it. I could have used a main spring winder, but The size of the spring made it easy to hand wind..." (or words to that effect) Isn't therea high chanceof damaging the main spring by winding it on by hand? (twisting it, for one.) I've hearrd that a main spring winder should always be used, unless a new spring that is installed from its holder. Since the new spring "is the right size" it should have slid in. Were you centered over the barrel, with the catcj lined up when you attempted to install it before hand winding? BTW the new spring's thickness (.021) is not the same as the micrometer's .020 measurment of the old spring. The height differed as well. The spring MAY have been in spec, but it is NOT "the same size" How did you determine the 500(mm?) length for the new spring? You FILED a high spot on the case, then used solder to fill the resulting hole?!? 🤯😳 You then used a punch to raise the dents... I sure hope the case is N'ickeloid" (or other trade name used for nickle silver/"German Silver") not genuine .925 sterling silver or .800 coin silver. Wuy didn't you use the punch to tap down the high spot? A "high spot" is a dent/low spot on the reverse side. At least you were able to temporarally hide the solder "repair" It will show given time. Not sure why you polished the case to look "new ... other than to hide the "oops" you made filing a "high spot" resulting in a hole.
What would a restauration like this cost? I have an old Venéta Prima Incabloc after my grandfather. I understand that it's probably worth less and possibly even alot less than what the restauration would cost, but that doesn't matter to me. It actually runs fine though, as far as I can tell, and it has no dents or scratches. But it should need some oil after some 100 years I assume, and there's what looks like a small smudge (from a finger?) on the face dial which would be nice to remove. And the silver has yellowed of course.

I understand some prefer voiceovers. But I think I'll be wanting to take the more cinematic standpoint with little voiceover as its been favoured recently by viewers :)

Take this as an advice, you shouldn't have filed up the "bezel fitting place", it should be tight as well to prevent the fall off from the watch

sir..! which camera system you used for your video recording?
I do all my recording on a Canon EOS 700D. When doing close up shots I stick a 2'1/2 magnifying glass over the lens, seem to do the job great :)
