Well deserved gold, my opinion though is that they're the only team that brought cheerful vibes to HHI. Almost every team from this year's event were aggressive mixed with anger and anguish.
After reading your comment, I get it! Hip hop is about happiness, and the genre hip hop music is not Cardi B and all of those new ”gangsta rap” that many refer to as Hip hop tiday. So I do see why this team won, even though in my opinion RF are the best.
Jay Manzanilla Upeepz won 2016 and 2017 and they had dancehall, vogue, waacking, zero locking, and minimal popping (brod dytoc's choreos border more on isolation/urban). There's no bias, it's just that the crews that specialize on older funk/hiphop styles, like popping, locking, and even bboy I guess, do it extremely well. That's what gets them the wins.
Maybe you dont know the rules of hhi? First 30seconds show as many style as your group can. There are 5 specific main styles you should have in your routine. Forgot all 5 but lock pop wack is 3 of them.
Came to see what the hype is about the 1st place performance. Personally, I don't like jazz and I don't like popping and locking (feels like the moves are too repetitive). So it was really boring for me.
This performance was insaaane man. The cleanliness of this crew is just crazy to watch and from the looks of it on stream they all looked like kids (or really young) which makes me not like them at the same time cos they’re some talented mother frockers 😂 well deserved 1st place Kana boon 👏🏽👏🏽
Dont wonder when the next hhi will be full of cabaret/broadway/old style/ funky typebof routine. lol. if thats how they cna get a gold they would do it. its so easy to do ( i mean those usual old school steps and a high kick lol) but other crews opt to do remix just to make a different style and flavor in dancing then here they come doing some popping and locking. year 2015 was still the best HHI for me. Few cabaret/old school type of dancing.

I'm a RF FAN, but RF really deserves 4th place, RF are authentic yet messy at the same time. If you're really a dancer you must know how to appreciate other dance crew and taste some different genre. As a fan i must not be dismay, becuz they are already successful.

You're a member of the audience and it's entirely subjective, some people like some things where others do not. Your favorite group(s) wouldn't be bashing their competition so do the same. Every single year is different in both judging AND competition. Some years are incredibly fierce and competitive and others not so much. Never say someone is undeserving. And as far as 'not changing' or 'updating' the routine -- learn the game before you spout off. Each routine has a ceiling of max amount of points/score they can receive and deductions are made as deemed. Kana-Boon came in with one of if not the highest potential score before deductions could even come into play, that is NOT on them and even bringing it up as an insult is straight laughable. If anything making no changes and still winning makes an incredible statement as to how strong the initial routine (or lackluster routine from others). Congrats to all the winners and competitors, see you next year!

Not the cleanest and most technical of all crews but it seems like they had fun on their routine. They even maintain their energy up to the end. They remind me of Lock n Lol crew from South Korea. Same idea and style. It's just the HHI doesn't want the same winners every year from the same countries. Sort of political move tbh. So no surprises here for me at least.

EVERY TEAM WORKED HARD TO GET THIS FAR. Don't undermine their efforts cause you can't see past your favoritism. Shit, most, if not all the competing teams, win or lose, know how to accept the results gracefully, and even congratulate the winners. Wow.loved this. Went to watch RF video but only watched first fifteen seconds then got bored. RF were getting to much of same same style. This is fresh and new and modern. Unsure if it is hip hop tho. There are hip hop components. I wonder what their definition of hip hop is and what the judging criteria is for this comp. But definitely this is a group of talented dancers.
