    A little joke about the title From None to Nun. The small crucifix I wear around my neck often brings up the question - Are you a priest? No, I answer, I am a nun, spelled N-O-N-E. I truly am a NONE, a Nothing, except in the eyes of my Lord.

    You can serve God without becoming a nun or priest. The catholic myth of having to be celibate and confined to serve God.

      Hi JAT002, we totally agree with you. Being a nun or a priest is only 1 way to serve God. We are all called to serve God through our individual vocation. For me, that means being married and serving God through my spouse and family.

      @sr.christinam.neumann1923 5 лет назад +3

      There is not any such myth. Yes, one can serve without being a nun or priest...the question is, "how am I called to serve?"

      Most people aren’t called to become a priest or nun. Most are called to marriage. God calls some people to serve him in a different way. Some people are called to devote themselves entirely to Him

      @@hayleymarse2853 Many non catholics are called to marry and serve. They work as a team in their missions and ministry. It works quite well. The bible says he who finds a wife finds a good thing. God did not intend for us to be alone. God gave Adam a helper Gen 2:18.

      @@wfqsfg within the Catholic Church, there are many ministries that allow for people to serve and be married! Nuns feel called to be “married” only to God. Priests in Roman Catholicism have so many duties that marriage is not allowed under normal circumstances. In other branches of Catholicism, priests can marry. In Roman Catholicism, deacons serve closely with priests but are allowed to get married because their duties to the church are less.
      I am friends with a Roman Catholic priest who is married and has kids because he converted and was a pastor previously. He gives talks about how marriage looks while being a priest and how difficult it is to find a balance.
      Like I said, most people are not called to the priesthood or religious life. Most people are called to the vocation of marriage. There are so many ministries within the church that allow you to be married. My parents are prim examples of that. However, some people are called deeper to serve the Lord without an earthly spouse.
