I think in episode 3 of adventuring academy, brennan said that he planned for the players to use aielwan's time freezing watch, so i imagine that part of the episode was planned, but not the whole meeting sol and aguefort thing.
The interesting thing is that it didn't derail his plans at all. Apparently at around this time, Brennan was thinking 'Oh fuck, how does the party get out of this?'
It also the thing that Ally was the only healer in the crew, so it was basically a TPK if Brennan didn't say yes for the heck of it. Only for the Corn God to have a say in destony. They also learned alot, with a lot of healing abilities and even like three or more revivify users in the next season XD

This is. How it all started. The Nat twenty that sent the cleric to Heaven, to find her School Teacher, who had knocked God unconscious, and the two of them coming back to life, to then stop time and defeat and ageless evil, the Vice Principle who is also a Dragon Emperor.
Totally valid take, but I really think this was utter shock at the odds rather than any sort of regret. This was really Helio reaching down and giving both Ally AND Brennan the Deus Ex Machina they needed. Brennan might have been more stoked than Ally internally. This was looking to be a tpk or at least a significant loss in the finale of D20s pilot season as Brennan planned this encounter balance with a key component in mind that the players forgot about (or maybe didnt remember quickly enough and lost their window to use it im not 100% remembering). If the bad kids die here tho the whole show takes a weird detour. Obviously they are all such great players and improvisers im sure it would have still been good, maybe it would have been a, you all wake up chained in a dystopia with Kalvaxus freed and you guys gotta break out and finish the job. But it would have fucked with their finale and schedule so who knows if it would have been a season 2 cliffhanger or if they could have played on for 2-3-4 more episodes

@@PigeonPantz i have a feeling that even without the nat 20, Brennan would have ran the heaven segment where Kristen meet Arthur and would be reminded of the clock and be revived. This nat 20 just made it so much more fitting and perfect. The fight was definately designed to be impossible without the stopwatch since they all started with half health and very few spell,slots.
I love how you can see Brennan's DM computer fans WHIRRING as his brain has to fucking overclock just to readjust his little puzzle pieces for this exact moment.
I didn't notice Brian's unrestrained gasp and I love it. He's probably the player that grew on me the most from beginning to end of this campaign. He was so invested in it all by the end, arguably more than the others
Bruh, that roll 100% changed the campaign for the better what are you talking about? Sure extremes shouldn't be counted (can I roll for a nat 20 to get a million wishes), but you can totally say yes to crazy shit like this, you've just gotta be ready to roll with the punches :)
I can't recall exactly the situation, but if they were down, wouldn't they be in death saves? Rolling a 20 does indeed straight just bring you back on a death save. Or were they properly dead? I don't recall the specifics unfortunately

She believes in her god, forsakes him when he doesn’t answer a very complex question and learns that some of his worshipers do bad things in his name, prays to him once more when dying and he gives her a nat20… she used that nat 20 to replace him with the worst possible god…

Also mind that Helio never gets pissy about it to the point that he demands she take him back (so it stands to reason that he acknowledges she has _good reason_ to shy away from him and his).
