I totally get what Bill is saying but anyone having not heard the set and only this would think it was a bad set, offensive and not funny. This is not the case! The set was hilarious and only sad pathetic people would find it offensive!
I disagree about thinking it was a bad set. It wasn't the best set for sure, but it had some grey elements, expecially the part about millenials telling us what to do and think when it should be the other way around - working the trans issue and school shootings into it was excellent. The only people getting offended by the leaked set are people who want to be offended by Louis or anyone caught up in the metoo thing. I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong or weird, but their's a big difference between asking permission to jack off in front of someone and essentially raping someone to get a part in a film. I hope Louis continues this way, as his last special was mediocre, and it seemed he had started losing his edge. It's almost like this set is him saying "fuck it, I'm doing comedy the way I want to and no holding punches". I also think Bill was just saying that some material was still being worked on rather than it being a bad set, which, to me, is very different.
You sound like a fucking child. "You disagree with mah opinion on comedy, therefore you're a poo poo head! WAHHHH." Be a fucking adult, and try to realize that people may have different views on FUCKING COMEDY (is anything MORE subjective?) without resorting to juvenile name calling. @@NaNAmbient This idea that people "CHOOSE" to be offended by things is a bullshit narrative crafted by people to enhance their strawmanning of people they disagree with. Because you have no argument if these people are genuinely offended by something, unless you're going to argue that people can't ever reasonably be offended by anything and nothing is offensive. You're basically saying that shitting on and mocking people who survived a mass tragedy, is squarely within the realm of things that no one could reasonably get offended by. That's fucking absurd. People get offended by other people mocking god. I don't give a fuck about god and I think it's a concept for gullible idiots. But if someone were shitting on the idea of god, I'd understand why believes are upset, even though I don't agree with them. If you can't even mentally process how some people aren't cool with kids who survived a recent tragedy being shat on by a sexual deviant of all people, then there's something wrong with you. I'm not saying people have to agree on everything, but to label everything that OTHER people get offended by as part of outrage culture is garbage logic.
“Making jokes about dark things is a way to avoid the pain” I couldn’t agree more with Bill. My mom has terminal cancer and I can only see her on the weekends thanks to work. But every weekend I go home and end up making at least one cancer joke to her and she always loves it. It’s our way of coping. She directly told me that that’s what she loves about me that’s different from all the other family members. I can lighten the mood with a dark joke, and I don’t hold back as much as them. Anyways, the point is that Bills 110% right about that.
“Remember Tipper Gore?” Sadly, I don’t think a lot of people do, or they weren’t even around for the PMRC and the Senate hearings on “porn rock.” They missed the whole thing. And now here we are. The cycle is repeating itself already.

@@drbwhit Virtue Signalling refers to the public expression of an opinion on a given topic primarily for the purpose of displaying one's moral superiority before a large audience to solicit their approval.
Bill Burr really stepped into Louis CK's spotlight. Before Louie was gone I hardly ever saw anything about Burr. Now the guy is everywhere. He holds the torch now.
The 'he's working out new material' reasoning isn't the best way to defend Louie. Implies that Louie would regret the jokes somehow, and he doesn't and shouldn't.
Except that is what comedians do. They experiment with new jokes and try out new material all the time. Louis may have been working towards refining those jokes. That isn’t to say he’ll make them less offensive or not, just that he may have changed things with every set by keeping his best material and letting go of the ones that didn’t do as well
that's what comics do they work out material and sometimes they say well you know what the angle that I was looking to take that kind of stunk let me revamp it and then go down this path and maybe they'll say well you know jokes AC and ear good but b&D really suck let me wipe those out and perhaps try to find a modifier for them or just do the set without them it is how this works
Sam Kinison and Gilbert Gottfried used to ridicule Andrew Dice Clay relentlessly back in the early 90s... what do you mean comedians never attacked each other?
The whole thing about comedians not attacking each other is insane. Rogan has the same spiel. As if all comedians belonged to the same world view and would get together and sing kumbaya. There are some super far left, some in the middle, some on the right, some who like free speech, some that don't, etc. If anything, though, controversy only makes C.K. stronger. He absorbs their attacks and increases in size like some strange alien ectoplasm. Protest mobs make stars.
They're inadvertently making it better, though. Chappelle's 'sticks & stones' special was killed by all the media the day it came out. Thus, I HAD to see it....and wasn't disappointed.
Totally agree. I've said before that Louis CK has so much compassion. When I heard the jokes in question I felt he was being ironic. Whether or not he was is irrelevant. I still respect him and his rights.
I was the biggest Louis fan, loved his recommendation of Putney swope, and horace and peter was also great, great episodes on Louie. But that set was pure shit, only edge lords would like it
bills descriptions here are great, but not even necessary- the set was savage and hilarious. there was one part i couldnt find my way into and guess what good ! let’s me know i am hearing an artist and not a hack. i was uncomfortable. but somehow i lived what do ya know !
Not to long ago Bill said he could say anything he wants because he has no sponsors. Now he does. He still kills it. Being a comedian to me seems like the hardest job in the entertainment industry and a lot of sports for that matter. If your in a band or an actor or are an athlete on a team sport there is a lot of blame to go around when things go wrong. A comedian ? On stage by yourself ? Brutal.
Bill nailed it! In different places are different social rules, the main rule during a comedic show is simple: 100% free speech, everything can be said!
People are saying he didn’t address the situation he should have. That’s at least what I’ve heard most. It’s a comedy set, he’s not a politician answering questions at a press conference. It’s not an interview with meet the press. It’s a comedy set, that is not meant for the entire country to dissect. It’s for the people in the room to laugh at or not and it’s up to Louis to dissect and figure out how he wants his next hour to end up. He already gave his apology letter. There is a difficulty for people to even consider the context.
He won't mention Apatow by name because he put Bill on that "Crashing" show he produces. The idea that CK's set was acceptable because he was "working out" material is irrelevant. The material, as comedy, was never 'unacceptable' anyway, even if he performed it on a Netflix special. What was completely absent from any of the criticism was 'context' -- or how the joke worked. Used to be a relevant concept in comedy.
ocan1033 Bill didn’t mention his name because Burr has always said that he never “names names”. Had nothing to do with Apatow being an executive producer. It’s not Judd’s show, it’s Pete Holmes’, who Burr is a good friend of. Holmes is also an executive producer, but more importantly, the creator of the show. I don’t think Apatow would have any pull in keeping Bill off that show if Pete really wanted him on.
@@HailCostanza I've heard Burr mention names plenty of times (Meryl Streep etc.) And while Pete Holmes may be the main creative and writing influence behind the show, Apatow as executive producer obviously wields influence. That said, I have no inside knowledge of why Burr doesn't mention Apatow here (or Andy Richter for that matter.) But then, neither do you.
You seem to also have missed his point about not throwing each other under the bus, which is why Bill always says on his podcast he never names any names when it comes to things like this.
Perhaps. Except everybody knows he's referring to Apatow here, and calling somebody out on throwing another comedian under the bus isn't the same as doing it yourself. There's a difference between not naming names when there's some question as to who you're talking about and simply not naming an already-identified elephant in the room.
Bill is right, work in progress. I don't understand why people are saying Louis CK's leaked set was up to his usual standard though, it definitely wasn't. It shouldn't have been leaked and it wasn't polished. There wasn't an overall arc, some of the jokes didn't have enough layers of meaning, provide a new insight or different perspective. Good enough for a regular comedian but not nearly good enough for a Louis CK special. I'm sure when he's done it will be.
I saw Bill at Caroline's about 10 years ago and he caught someone in the audience recording his set. He got angry, but remained in control, and broke down how doing shit like that ruins future sets for him and takes money out of his pocket. I expected him to fucking go OFF on the guy, but he didn't.
when you're hanging out with one of your "friends" and you realize they're talking mad shit about your other friends who AREN'T there... yeah, that's an important detail to catch.
Isn't being offended a choice? And don't Commedians look for that line? They basically expose cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy and some people just can't handle the truth.
Louis CK continues to do his job as a comedian. And he does it better than anyone. He makes people laugh and he also triggers people and upsets them. Good job Louie!!
Difference is people don’t work on songs in public they do it in the studio. If you’re charging money and doing it in-front of an audience you don’t get to claim I’m working on it or it’s practice.
Totally agree with Bill about attacking him for his act, but he should be held responsible for the bullshit he did to women. That shouldn't be washed over. Comedians shouldn't be held accountable for their WORDS but definitely should be for their ACTIONS.
I think they're just pissed off and jealous that Louis CK is so much better at doing dark comedy than they are. So they look for any excuse to bring him down. Scratch the surface of the critics, and I'm sure you'll find lots of ugly stuff, as you would in most people. This sanctimonious BS is just really tiresome.
Has there been a SINGLE comedian telling other comedians what they can joke about that is worth a damn at all? It's like in a debate when you go ad hominem, it's a sure sign you have no valid point to make. Telling anyone what they can or can't say is really just proving YOU have nothing of value to say. And to top it all off, the material was funny, AND he was correct. Just because you are somehow associated with some tragedy doesn't make your thoughts any more (or less) valid than anyone else's.
I feel like Bill Burr was talking directly to Judd Apatow and he is right.

genius can also be use is correlation with 'prodigy' you can be a genius at martial arts. mayweather is a boxing genius, lebron is a genius at basketball.
Doesnt take a 'genius' to get it. Get it?
Chips Handon you have no sense of humor I guess. I think Louie is over your head is all. do you listen to Creed?
Bill Burr is all heart and all class. And all funny
That's 3 alls!
No he’s not
Louie’s set was masterful and that was just material he was working on when he perfects it it’s gonna absolutely kill. Best comedian of our generation.
where can i find it
I was laughing so hard listening to Louis C.K. leaked set that it hurt. Well done sir.
I have seen it but I can't find it now. Did they take it down ? Can you post a link to the set here ?
Andy richter and Sarah Silverman etc
Andy is one of the weakest sorriest cowards I have ever seen
And Jim Carrey.
Hypocrite too. His own metoo victim killed herself, because he gave her STDs instead of flowers. He should shut up, what Louis did, does not even compare.
I knew Andy Richter was a piece of shit, but I didn't know Sarah Silverman chimed in. What did she say?
TBOMD To be fair she didn’t “say” anything but retweeted lots of criticism against Louis, a long time friend of hers, for the topics he should never have joked about
That's fucked up for Sarah to do that. I gotta hand it to Janeane Garafolo for defending Louis while knowing that she's going to get attacked by the Outrage Police. Good for her.
Liberals in the 60s: you can't sensor us!
Liberals today: you can't say that!

"Dark subjects" he says, and it's true; gender dysphoria is a rather dark subject.
Abs. loved Louis last set. We've missed you Louis!
Abs.
I follow Judd Apatow simply to keep my super liberal to conservative ratio balanced. I hope this guy has some skeletons in his closet that get exposed because his self righteousness is pathetic.
This is eloquently put! I do it with a quite a few people.
Im as liberal as it gets and these kind of social justice warriors make me cringe. They bask in the attention if “look how self righteous i am” on twitter etc. There will always be edgy offensive comedy. In america you have the option if viewing it or not
@@thesprawl2361 You're a weak-minded fool. You clearly are very easily swayed by external influences. I mean we all can be at times, it's human nature, but fuck man, you seem downright proud of it.

The Sprawl : how weak must you be to let other people's behavior keep you from acting on principle.
"Ooh Hitler liked chocolate, I'm going to stop eating chocolate!"
That's your level of thinking.
People need to play this on every channel. And everyone would learn something
Jim Carrey 90s: Einhorns a man OMG!
Jim Carrey now: This is unacceptable.
Still can’t believe they took out Louis. That was our guy.
Journalz he ain’t done man. Let the dust settle. He too good
He's not done yet. Just you wait.
Louis will return. He's too good to fade away over this stuff.
He took himself out
lol he's clearly not done. He's had a fucking torrent of opposition against him, and is still killing as a comic whenever he performs. He's a master of the artform. These virtue-signalling morons can throw all the little tantrums they want, but the fact is Louie did nothing wrong and most people know that. It's just a loudmouth minority who think they are like on the cusp of revolutionary change. What a joke. If a QUARTER of these people would yell as loud about America's constant wars, or the prison-industrial complex, or Big Pharma, or any number of other REAL fucking problems that this country has, maybe we'd see some actual positive change. But nope, just all these distractions and red herrings.
this is a dark time to be a comic. ya'll hang in there
Or the greatest time for a comedian who doesn't give a fuck about being mainstream...
One of the most important times because we need them
No it’s not shut up
The set was a work in progress, and it was still hilarious. Louis still has it, stronger than ever
Why are all of you (Rogan, Segura) keep pushing the angle that it was a rehearsal set? The jokes were fine. He does not need to rewrite them. Y'all keep acting like he was doing some insane edgy shit. It's the same old Louis!
@dfss csss the jokes are fine. Stressing the fact that it wasn't an official release makes it seem like there was a problem almost of the Kramer level.
It really is the same old Louis like it or not. It’s not like he’s all of the sudden edgy, remember his snl monologue? I’m not a fan of all Louis actions and I don’t know the full story so I’m not going to defend him or persecute him. I do love his work and you’re right, this set was what we should expect from him
@@LLlap Just because the jokes are good doesn't mean they're ready.
@dfss csss Damn. I laughed my ass off. Thought it was fine the way it was. Bill Burr and Joe Rogan don't even know if this is finished or not. If it is exactly like this in his special, I'd say it's the same Louis as ever
@@PedroMiguelSilvaBlanco This could also be a finished, polished product. If the jokes were exactly like this on his recorded special, I'd say it's the same Louis as ever
couldn't wait to hear bill's take on this. let em' have it buddy.
I totally get what Bill is saying but anyone having not heard the set and only this would think it was a bad set, offensive and not funny. This is not the case! The set was hilarious and only sad pathetic people would find it offensive!
I agree. I thought it was good the way it was lol
"If you don't like what I like you're 'sad' and 'pathetic.'" Seriously?
I guess there's a difference between "not liking" something (e.g. someone's brand of comedy) and "getting offended" by it, but whatever...
“Making jokes about dark things is a way to avoid the pain”
I couldn’t agree more with Bill.
Anyways, the point is that Bills 110% right about that.
psyched to see Louie rise from the ashes
The fact that it was not a final product makes Louis CK a genius. The set was extremely hilarious!
Laughed my ass off at Louie's last set. He's still got it. Dude is talented.
“Remember Tipper Gore?”
Sadly, I don’t think a lot of people do, or they weren’t even around for the PMRC and the Senate hearings on “porn rock.” They missed the whole thing. And now here we are. The cycle is repeating itself already.
hellion75 so true. These young kids don’t remember how Hilary bullied assault victims of her husband either. Not a republican, here, I hate the Clintons!
One of his best sets ever. My favorite part was when he said "even if doctors said fucking kids was good for your health....i still wouldn't do it. Because that's how good of a person I am" ...literally spitting in the face of all the sjw haters
I have seen it but I can't find it now. Did they take it down ? Can you post a link to the set here ?
It sucks how so many people like Bill actually have to explain why it's not cool what is happening now with comedy and on a larger scale, our society.
"Comedians" is a bit generous, Burr. We're talking about snarky dumpy college angry feminist chicks who think they have talent at comedy/anything because no one has ever told them they stink.
Louis did not address the elephant wacking off in the corner!
Virtue signaling is the reason
Richard Stokoe What is virtue signaling?
@@drbwhit Virtue Signalling refers to the public expression of an opinion on a given topic primarily for the purpose of displaying one's moral superiority before a large audience to solicit their approval.
"Someone virtue signal our stance against virtue signalling, STAT." -- ur dumb parents
@@creepycraig73 is that like how it is now public policy to not tolerate tolerance?
I find it funny at the beginning how Burr was saying "Stop attacking other comedians" but there are podcast clips of him bashing Ricky Gervais.
PulpFictionized which ones. Any video out there?
comics literally have no foothold in society, trying to explain how comedy works to the general population is a fruitless effort.
that fact that Kevin Hart is considered the top comedian right now says what a shitty time it is for comedy right now
CK is a legend and that set was amazing.
Woah man, spoilers on Tipper Gore's 'hair metal' beliefs... some of us aren't caught up yet!
I agree with Bill 100%!!! Are they trying to MURDER comedy???
They're inadvertently making it better, though. Chappelle's 'sticks & stones' special was killed by all the media the day it came out. Thus, I HAD to see it....and wasn't disappointed.
Comedy is therapeutic. Those who can't laugh are beyond repair.
And Louis' joke about the fat kid was great.
Never watching another Judd Apatow movie. Oh right, he hasn't made anything good since 2005
Judd Apatow has worked with actresses that Louie jerked off in front of
@@fangfuckthegreat6876 He's always been very vocal about sex abuses, to the point it makes me suspicious. Methinks he doth protest too much.
Totally agree. I've said before that Louis CK has so much compassion. When I heard the jokes in question I felt he was being ironic. Whether or not he was is irrelevant. I still respect him and his rights.
REASON WILL PREVAIL!!!!!!!!
REASON WILL PREVAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

History shows that it takes time. There will be a Reign of Terror first.
It was awesome. I hope he keeps doing shows.
I was the biggest Louis fan, loved his recommendation of Putney swope, and horace and peter was also great, great episodes on Louie.
But that set was pure shit, only edge lords would like it
I still haven't heard it yet, I know it'll be great. C.K is the greatest
Don't worry Bill, they're coming for you next...
Yeah. I’m coming to see him when he has shows in LA
bills descriptions here are great, but not even necessary- the set was savage and hilarious. there was one part i couldnt find my way into and guess what good ! let’s me know i am hearing an artist and not a hack. i was uncomfortable. but somehow i lived what do ya know !
Brutal.
100% on the fact about why we joke about dark things. Some people avoid shit to cope. Some people simply find the humor in these things.
Some people don't want to give Louie a break. I agree, Louie is working on material and that's what you do at the clubs to work out the kinks.
Never go full Tipper Gore.
MisterZ3r0 haha.
Bill burr is the realest comedian in the game honestly, he has so much respect for comedians in general
He's working on it, but it was gold. Room laughed. No appologies owed.
can't even find the set on youtube anymore. just clips.
Bill is right.Diaz joked in the moment when he found his mom dead and then he cried. Some people handle shit trough joking about it
Bill Burr should make a special with Bill Cosby. Call it "the BILLionaire club"
Bill Burr is the #1 comedian by everyone in my immediate family. Happy about that.
Bill Burr - the voice of reason always!! Thank God for you Bill!!
I saw Bill at Caroline's about 10 years ago and he caught someone in the audience recording his set. He got angry, but remained in control, and broke down how doing shit like that ruins future sets for him and takes money out of his pocket. I expected him to fucking go OFF on the guy, but he didn't.
How could people still give a shit about this? He didn't do anything that bad. Certainly not a criminal act.
The Tipper comparison is 100% right on.
when you're hanging out with one of your "friends" and you realize they're talking mad shit about your other friends who AREN'T there... yeah, that's an important detail to catch.
I loved Louie's new standup, i think ppl need to mind their own sins before judging and shaming others, I love Louie and Bill burr
Isn't being offended a choice? And don't Commedians look for that line? They basically expose cognitive dissonance and hypocrisy and some people just can't handle the truth.
It was a comedy set he wasn’t really going after those kids he was just roasting them! Bill always speaking common sense!
That "leaked" set was FUCKING HILARIOUS lol
Louis and Bill are two of the only real comics left.
I look at comedians way different after hearing Jordan petersons explanation on the importance of court jesters
scariest thought of the day is imagining al gore rocking out to motley crue
Louis CK continues to do his job as a comedian. And he does it better than anyone. He makes people laugh and he also triggers people and upsets them. Good job Louie!!
bill hicks once said comedy is last freedom of speech and they're after it
Bill is 100% right. Unfortunate timing though: wasn't Judd Apatow on Bill's podcast only a few weeks before this?
A time and a place for things? What a concept!
the parkland bit was fire
Not naming any names here * *cough Judd cough Appettow*
I couldn't agree with Bill more, the part about joking about dark things especially.
"circle the wagons"
goddammit I love Bill Burr.
