Hi Scottish Bunny - I've just knitted my first Fairisle hat, watching your video and holding my hat in hand, I can see exactly what you mean. Great advice - I can put that straight into operatoin when I start my next hat tomorrow. Thanks so much!

When doing the single colour rows use two strands of the same colour and knit two by two and then your tension will match perfectly.

Whattttt? Won’t those 3 rows of knitting with double thread be thick? Heavy? This idea really puzzles me!?

@@Duckster183 So great to talk about knitting. I guess my comment was confusing, what I meant was to use two strands of the same colour. Working one of the strands while carring the other, not working two strands at the same time. Hopefully this is clearer.

That makes it clearer for this old gal. Thank you!

That is so interesting, I'll have to give that a try!!! This is a very useful recommendation for Norwegian knitting patterns!!!

Very useful tips. May I ask for the exact colours and type of yarn please? Thank you.

Yes always happens to me. I am tighter on single color rows so I go up a size and then go.back for the colorwork. Or sometimes I strand with single color rows using the same color so the single rows have double thickness as well. I Definetly do that when I knit gloves on single color fingers. I say its a matter of experimentation for your knitting style and gauge ..

I change down one needly size for the plain rows, works brilliant.

I believe its #katieskep on instagram. The yarn is Isager 2 (light fingering) and Lichen and Lace 80/20 sock yarn. My favorite so far for this hat is the Woolfolk Tynd (black, white, gray tones using black as the background color).
