I love how you don't mind sharing your 'oh no!' moments. No true hard-core perfectionist would do that so I think you can give yourself a break there 😊🧡
Love these gorgeous bags you have collected. They make such a beautiful noises to my ears. It always looks easy till you start a project .Then not so easy. Thank you for sharing the process and decision making of what you like or didn’t like. You will find a way to patch up that tear on the bag. So far I love the beginning of your journal. Beautiful. I did love the bags you hand painted in acrylics. Love the colors. Can’t wait to see what’s next for this journal.
Your painted, stamped, collaged bags are wonderful! By all means keep them as they are to use in another format. I'm eager to see how this project moves forward.
Oh my gosh Barbara… I love how honest you are, about procrastinating, and feeling something wasn’t working, and you were avoiding it! It’s so true, but you you stuck with it, and really everything you make is gorgeous!!😄🥰🥰
This is fascinating, Barbara! Cant wait to see how they turn out. I had trouble with clips making indents too. So I bought a couple of bricks, covered them in stick-on vinyl. They turned out to be a great crafting tool!
Art takes time! Monet grew his gardens before he painted them. Atticus This is amazing and I know without any doubt what you feel is less then perfect we all think is brilliant! Looking forward to seeing your next video!
Refreshing to see you overcoming the sort of obstacles I encounter when making my journals. So much inspiration. I did not have a huge array of paper bags but made some using a tutorial from Carol Tinson. An added benefit of watching all the Dephemerember videos ,making my own stuff instead of buying more.
Alles Liebe, Doreen
Barbara, welcome to my world of making journals - mistakes and frustrations, but ultimately a product that I like. My friend is an art teacher and she teaches her students that mistakes are "Beautiful Oops" from the book by that name (Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzbert. It's about learning how to change a mistake into something beautiful. I look forward to watching the progress and process of making this journal. Happy New Year!
I have loads of bags and this would be so much fun to do. I love that you put up these process videos because we all learn right along with you. Well done on getting over the perfectionism to this point!
It seems to me that you haven't had enough experimenting during dephemerember because you are diving into another experiment so fastly 🤣 I am really excited to see how that journal will turn out! Can't wait!
Barbara my hubby is not happy with you for this video. I have not even ONE bag to work with and must now shop!! I love the idea and MUST make a bag journal!! Great way for me to begin my new year. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing the process with us. It really helps to see how you problem solve and adapt- it’s definitely part of the creative journey. I love your interesting paper bag collection. I’m really looking forward to your next installment
So many thoughts running through my head. Number 1…. I loved hearing all of the bags crinkling as you were looking through them. When you glued them down, I never would have made the connection not to glue all the way down and stop other bass from opening. When you said it has been a week since you finger painted (procrastination), I loved the way they looked. But I have been procrastinating working on my Journal I’m making from my grandsons shirts. I finished making all the Rope bowls for Christmas. I kept the one that looked really bad for myself. So instead of getting to work on my Journal, I made myself an oval basket. It’s bigger and I loved it. So the I decided to make some Fabric Roses (thank you Tracy Fox). I’m using a gray shirt and a green shirt so I made a few of each color. I won’t be putting them all on the cover. But I enjoyed that. Well, I love this Journal. I’m going to go watch Rondas video now too. I’m sorry my comments are so long. I just feel like I have so much to tell you! Lol♥️♥️♥️
Hi Barbara! I love all of your pretty paper bags! You have such a nice selection of bags for making this journal. I also love the crinkly sounds the bags make! Even tho this process wasn't coming easy for you, I'm sure in the end you will be very happy with your journal. It just may take some time for your usual creative side to kick in. You always do beautiful work Barbara, so I'm sure you will this time too!
Barbara, I'm glad you showed every aspect of how you began the process of this journal and how it came together. I just love the sound & look of all these beautiful bags. Unfortunately, in the States most everything is plastic, unless you go to an unusual boutique or gift shop. I would definitely consider making one of these. Maybe I'll just shop in some fancy shops just for the bags. I look forward to seeing you through this journal and can't wait to see it's outcome. BTW, I think your painted bags would look great in your art journal. Thank you for sharing your ideas with us. Hugs, Carol Schneider
This is going to be so very cool .. and i love that you are sharing your oh no moments with us ... i am sure that happens in everyone's crafty space .. cant wait for the end result!!
Your bags are so pretty. I hope you will be able to eventually enjoy and love this project. I think we have all been where you are. I watched a paper bag journal by Carol Laws. She didn’t have many bags and most of them were very small.
What a trip you've taken this on. It's very good for us to see how you more professional journalist struggle sometimes too. Then it's easier for us do not get hard on ourselves period when things don't go like we planned. I'm really looking forward to the next video with this
Well Barbara: it was touch and go with this journal. However, I think this will be a very interesting look you’re creating. I’m definitely looking forward to part two of this video. 🚘 l from California
I was also inspired by Rachel to make one of these ephemera holders on my channel, so really excited to see what you come up with Barbara, as I am always so inspired by your work too.
Barbara, it’s nice to know that not everything comes easy to you. That we all have moments when our processes don’t necessarily work. The most inspiring thing to me is that you don’t quit and you find a way. I’m sure that this journal will be amazing just like most everything you do. Just keep swimming!! ☺️
I love seeing your process and am grateful that you share your ‘struggles’! I know it’ll turn out fab in the end. I would love to have a go at this. I will be collecting every paper bag that comes my way 😂
I really like this bag journal idea. I like the use of paint. You could make a totally separate journal with those bags you painted. I think I will try it and use my gel plate to add color and texture. I was surprised about the binding. I didn't think I would like it, but it looks good. I love gator mouth squishy journals. When I see one I want to hold it and squish it together and listen to all the papers and see what is in it. :D I'm looking forward to part two.
Love this “no practice” video. Nice to see the real and you are just like the rest of us. Over think, get those creative blocks and will try something to find out it just doesn’t work.
Such nice bags and what is it about the sound of them that we like so much! Its looking good so far. I get many brain blocks on some of the projects I do as well. Sometimes things come to you like crazy then you sit down to actually do it and somehow in the process its not going the way you wanted it to go. You are a gifted artist so I know this will come out beautifully in the end. Never give up....
You are such an awesome teacher…you let us in on the process, the good and the bad. I absolutely love the bags that you painted and hope you end up using the whole bag. The colors are gorgeous!
I like your painted bags with the collage. I think if you distressed around the outside edge of the painted bags they would connect more with tones in the collage. I love the bright colours and the Pacifica style. I am from Aotearoa, New Zealand and we tend to like tropical colours. Your bags are gorgeous. We dont have that glorious colours and design in our paper bags. You could add your stick once you finished the journal. Just make sure the writing spots can be taken out of the journal or are in places away from your lovely stick.❤😊❤
Morning Barbara, what an interesting binding to the journal. I am a sure that you will figure out how to decorate the journal in your own unique style. This is going to be a lovely challenge to start of 2022 and I know you will pull it off, I have every faith in you. See you for coffee on Sunday, Blessings and hugs from Cape Town Diana PS. Love the colours for the packets, it is so very pretty, all the colours are muted and go together so well.
What a gorgeous assortment of bags you have in your collection. I am so glad you have made this process video because I am frequently out of my comfort zone as I learn to do the techniques and things you show us how to do on your channel. I make lots of mistakes and most are fixable as you've pointed out. That's beauty of collage - you can just put something over it or add to it. I'm glad you didn't give up and I cannot wait to see what you do next.
I’m watching this again and it’s fascinating! I don’t have enough paper bags yet and I keep having to rescue things from the recycling bin where my husband has put them! He doesn’t realise how much paper is needed for any type of paper journal. He doesn’t touch my fabrics and threads and beads. Now paper…poor man. Barbara, I was diagnosed with lung cancer last summer but hopefully they caught it in time and the drug I’m on should stop a return. You and Luisa and Tina and Joie and Rachel have kept me company on my return to normality after the operation. I’ve learnt so much from your work in particular and you have shown me which way I want to go ie more experimental. Thank you ❤️💕🥰
Thanks so much Sara! I’m so very sorry what you habe been going through. It touches me deeply that my videos are keeping you company in your recovery ❤️🩹. You could also make paper bags out of gift wrapping paper. Sending lots of love and hugs! ❤️😘
Great process video. The more "real" a video is, the more inspirational and helpful it is for me. You have an wonderful assortment of bags! The spine paper makes it look like a "Barbara" creation. Looking forward to part 2!
Ok after watch your series with Luise, I know you can figure this out and can see many of things you made there in this journal…lol….will be lovely!!!!
You are so brave to power through this video! That inspres us to create as well! It is ok to change our minds and design on the fly: no solid plan, just inspiration!! We believe in you Barbara ... the journal will be gorgeous when done! Love the "crinkle" sound too! Looking forward to your next video. ❤ from Canada.
I would cut the green bag off in the back and glue a strip of the paper on the inside to repair the tear. You are very brave to tackle this journal! I know its going to look great when you finish it. You looked like you were in your element when you were painting!!!!!!
I'm back 😁😁😁, missed having 'my ladies ' every day! I yay, paper bags are fun to work with. Oh how cute is her journal?😍😍😍. It's so cool how everyone inspires everyone! Awesome hoard! It's great stores are using paper as recycling plastic still gives off awful toxins. Cool painting and looks like you had fun! Silhouettes straight onto the plain (without stamping) painted background would look really cool 😎. Good description of why we need to try something, lol scratching the itch! Your inner control freak is asserting itself with arranging them 🙈. Random is HARD! Yes we learn something from every situation. Aww I loved your stick idea 💡. Oh I feel your pain 🙈🤗🤗🤗. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖
Ich liebe Papierbeutel und bin auch immer am sammeln😅 Freu mich schon auf dein Projekt, was du daraus machst und wie es weiter geht🥰 Liebe Grüße Iris 😍
You have some great paper bags. Before junk journals, I never looked at bags with such love & interest! This is so unique. Excited to see what's next with this. Thx for video. Austin,TX USA
I love those bags you painted. They are not grungy at all. This is not said to be critical. It is surprise. But it doesn’t fir with the other bags now. They are too bright and loud. I love the painted bags.
LOL Even my husband had to come over and see what I was watching when you "messed" up LOL So I had to explain your perfectionism to him. You so made my night. 🥰❣💕🛍
I am really loving watching you create this paper bag journal!! As I am doing some slow stitching, I have learnt more about the process of making a paper journal than I ever have in so many journal making videos. What inspiring ideas, the most fabulous mistakes, that turns magically into something you like!! I am loving the companionship of a familiar‘don’t think I like it’ along with ‘not sure what to do with it/fix it’ . It’s the first day of this new year and I’m completely inspired rather than a little overwhelmed. So thank you thank you for this, and for your company while I stitch…..pondering about all the paper bags I have gathered.
OMG, giirrrrlll!!! 🤦 I was thinking at the 25 minute mark that it was going to be a fail & the pressure of being a DT project, but you hung in there! I had suggestions for you all the way through, but I had compassion & understanding in the end because I can picture myself in exactly the same "boat"! I giggled at the mouse comment! My favourite page/bag in there now. "You can do it! You can do it!" 😍🤩
I had previously watched Rachel’s and Liz’s videos and loved what they did. Will have to watch Ronda’s next. I know you will do something fantastic with this yummy journal. Love the sound. I so feel what you are going through but I know it will be great when you finish it. TFS Barbara! ❤️
The painted paper bags were lovely they looks nice together you might make another journal with them too 💕 I’m sue the actual journal will be fun too 💪🏻💪🏻
But I love the backgrounds. Ah, you are going to love the journal when you get done. Remember Ronda said it was fun, but hard too. You got this. So looking forward to seeing the end result.
What a cute idea. I love that you took us with you as you thought through things! Loved the ones you painted/stamped (love that tree!) they will look beautiful whatever you decide!
It’s looking really cute so far! I especially like that you take us along as you change course a few times....all the stuff that happens at my desk thru the course of a day. Not sure I rebound from the unexpected SNAFUs as quickly and/or successfully as you do! Gosh, I just love your style. Love the giggles, love the videos you share with us! Happy New Year, Dear Barbara!
Ive watched so many of ur videos & this series is one of my favs! ❣️ I’m rewatching AGAIN & trying it this time bc I have lots of bags to choose from now. 😁
Happy New Year, Barbara🎆 I have paper bag envy. We don't have much for paper bags here and especially not such pretty colours and designs. I am loving the concept and know you will pull a rabbit out of the hat and end up with something you truly enjoy. Hang in there and I wish you a happy and healthy 2022. 🇨🇦
Wow honey, this is really, really cool!! I can't wait to see where this goes and I can't promise you that, at 1:11 this New Yeats Eve morning, I won't get up and check my bag stash, though I know for certain that I don't have any of those pretty flat ones like you're using. ...doesn't mean that I can't roll over to eBay and type "paper bags" and see what comes up. 🤔🤫🤭 OH! And I got that die cut roller brushie thing!! Yeah, WAYYY better than a needle and tweezers! Thanks for the hookup! Love you angel, MomK ❤ 😁 🏜
This is so fun, Barbara! I’ll definitely put this on my ever growing “want to do” list. Excited to see it progress! I saw Rachel’s Christmas bag journal and loved it too. Need to check out the others as well! Thanks for bringing us along! I have no doubt that this is going to turn out just fabulous! Love and hugs to you, my friend! ❤️
This is one of my faviorate process videos! I loved watching the struggle because it reminded me of myself when I attempt something new. Your paperbag journal is turning so cool! I can't wait to see part two.
I love how you don't mind sharing your 'oh no!' moments. No true hard-core perfectionist would do that so I think you can give yourself a break there 😊🧡
Aaaw thank you! ❤️
Wow! That was an adventure....Thank you for taking us along. Can't wait for the next video!
It’s like a cliffhanger! It looks so cool - and has a lovely sound, hang in there😊 it’s a fun experiment.
Oh gracious woman, you had us on a roller coaster journal ride. Ha
Your painted, stamped, collaged bags are wonderful! By all means keep them as they are to use in another format. I'm eager to see how this project moves forward.
Thanks for sharing the doubts, troubles and uncertainty of the process...we all go through this😅👍💝
Oh my gosh Barbara… I love how honest you are, about procrastinating, and feeling something wasn’t working, and you were avoiding it!
R.J. Fisher, great tip about the covered bricks!
Art takes time!
Monet grew his gardens
before he painted them.

This is amazing and I know without any doubt what you feel is less then perfect we all think is brilliant! Looking forward to seeing your next video!

I have been screaming to the computer: “Barbara don’t ,don’t stick that paper strips “😂😂 I love the layout of this bags. So interesting ❤
Love those bags and can't wait to see how you decorate this most interesting journal!
Ooh the crinkling sounds of Bag's!!😉 That was fun in it's self. Awesome project! TYFS ♥️

Thanks Ann. I like the Beautiful Ooops! ☺️. Happy New Year! ❤️
Or as Bob Ross says: Happy accidents!
So I enjoyed watching and listening to your thought process. These bags are lovely. I have never seen as many different paper bags as you have!
Thanks so much for showing your process, even if it was frustrating to you. As I often hear “we are our own worst critics”.
I have loads of bags and this would be so much fun to do. I love that you put up these process videos because we all learn right along with you. Well done on getting over the perfectionism to this point!
Thanks Robin! ❤️ Always a struggle! ☺️
It seems to me that you haven't had enough experimenting during dephemerember because you are diving into another experiment so fastly 🤣 I am really excited to see how that journal will turn out! Can't wait!
Haha there is nothing enough experimenting! And overthinking apparently! 😂😂😂
This is such a great idea. I love watching your process. It's encouraging that you don't love everything because that tells me I'm normal! lol...
Barbara my hubby is not happy with you for this video. I have not even ONE bag to work with and must now shop!! I love the idea and MUST make a bag journal!! Great way for me to begin my new year. ❤️❤️❤️
Hahaha sorry about that! 😂😂😂❤️
I love the things that you have made with your painted backgrounds. They are delightful!
Loved the painted bags Barbara and look forward to seeing how this goes xx
I can imagine a journal made all with painted bags, can't you?! It would look amazing!
@@BonesAndButtons Absolutely. 😊
I sure like the look and idea of this and I’m really thankful that you are taking the first run! I look forward to seeing what you do next. ❤️
I’m fascinated by this journal. Can’t wait to see part 2! 😍

Thanks so much Carol! I’m sure you can find these kind of bags on Etsy. ❤️
Cannot wait to see where you're taking this project. I love the idea already!
This seems a lot of fun, not an easy fun, but like you said, it’s the process and what we learn from it (or about ourself 😅)
This is going to be so very cool .. and i love that you are sharing your oh no moments with us ... i am sure that happens in everyone's crafty space .. cant wait for the end result!!
I got some of those small Brown craft bags with the design from Amazon.

You’ve been looking at it for too long Barbara… I think it’s fabulous and eclectic!! Cant wait to see how it progresses!!😄🥰🥰
I’m really looking forward to seeing the next steps in this! Thanks for taking us along in your process. It is very helpful.
I enjoyed watching you start your paper bag junk journal. Can't wait to see what you do with this next.
I absolutely love the painted paper bags! The would make great journal covers!
Thanks so much for your support and belief in me! ❤️
I like these. I have a whole drawer of paper bags, and found another package of brown ones I need to do something with, fabulos!
I would cut the green bag off in the back and glue a strip of the paper on the inside to repair the tear. You are very brave to tackle this journal! I know its going to look great when you finish it. You looked like you were in your element when you were painting!!!!!!
Thanks! I was totally overthinking everything! 😂😂😂
It’s going to be beautiful. I can’t wait to see the finished journal.
Tfs and have a great day 💖💖
Welcome back Debbi! I missed your comments! Sending lots of love! ❤️❤️❤️
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Ich liebe Papierbeutel und bin auch immer am sammeln😅 Freu mich schon auf dein Projekt, was du daraus machst und wie es weiter geht🥰
Liebe Grüße
Iris 😍
You have some great paper bags. Before junk journals, I never looked at bags with such love & interest! This is so unique. Excited to see what's next with this.
Thx for video.

LG Ela
Danke liebe Ela und guten Rutsch! ❤️
I really enjoy watching your thought process! Can’t wait to see how this turns out!!
Loving this junk bag journal and look forward to see how it grows
I love those bags you painted. They are not grungy at all. This is not said to be critical. It is surprise. But it doesn’t fir with the other bags now. They are too bright and loud. I love the painted bags.
Thanks, I agree totally! ❤️
LOL Even my husband had to come over and see what I was watching when you "messed" up LOL So I had to explain your perfectionism to him. You so made my night. 🥰❣💕🛍
Looking forward to part too....off to collect some bags....might take me a few days. Shopping day today, so maybe I will score some bags.
This is BRILLIANT 👏 l love it Barbara .......and l LOVED that you made me giggle with you 😍.....can't wait to see your next video!!!!!! 👌😘😘😘
Your video is very inspiring, how you continue to persevere through the process. Looking forward to what this project has for you. 💚💚💚
Can't wait! Following your progress. Love your bags!
Well I just love what you have done already 🤩🏆👍🥰
You can do it!" 😍🤩
I appreciate your emotional support! ❤️🥰
I had previously watched Rachel’s and Liz’s videos and loved what they did. Will have to watch Ronda’s next. I know you will do something fantastic with this yummy journal. Love the sound. I so feel what you are going through but I know it will be great when you finish it. TFS Barbara! ❤️
Aaaw thanks for your confidence in me! 😬 No pressure 😂😂😂❤️
The painted paper bags were lovely they looks nice together you might make another journal with them too 💕
I’m sue the actual journal will be fun too 💪🏻💪🏻
Thanks Eman! ❤️
But I love the backgrounds. Ah, you are going to love the journal when you get done. Remember Ronda said it was fun, but hard too. You got this. So looking forward to seeing the end result.
Thanks so much Janet! ❤️
I Love the backgrounds of the painted bags ❣️
I love the painted bags and the marks you made on them! I hope you come back to them!
What a cute idea. I love that you took us with you as you thought through things! Loved the ones you painted/stamped (love that tree!) they will look beautiful whatever you decide!
Aaaw thanks so much Tonya! ❤️

Thanks so much and have fun with this! ❤️
Happy 2022! You can always make own paper bags! 😃❤️
OH! And I got that die cut roller brushie thing!! Yeah, WAYYY better than a needle and tweezers! Thanks for the hookup!
Love you angel, MomK ❤ 😁 🏜
Thanks MomK! 😃 Good luck with the paper bags! 😃 I’m so happy that roller thingy is working for you! Happy New Year, mom! ❤️
Aaaw thanks so much, Gayle! I would love to see your spin on this! It’s super fun! Hugs! ❤️🥰
This is one of my faviorate process videos! I loved watching the struggle because it reminded me of myself when I attempt something new. Your paperbag journal is turning so cool! I can't wait to see part two.
Thanks so much! ❤️
I enjoyed this process video! Your challenges actually made it so i had fewer challenges. Looking forward to part 2!!💙
So far so good....interesting, but I know you’ll pull it off...😻
