    I have been saying this for years. Harbor Freight needs to start selling their sockets individually. There are many times I come across a job that needs one particular socket and when I go in there, I have to pay for a whole set just for the one socket I need. Home Depot, Lowes and most auto parts stores sells sockets individually so why can't Harbor Freight follow suit?
    I get that their stores are packed already, but at least they could look into the option.

    I’ve been loving your HF deal videos Bear. They have been super informative, I have become a total HF FANBOY anymore, I almost refuse to go to Lowe’s unless I absolutely have to. I worked for them for 5 years, and was never impressed with 90% of their tools. I have been buying welding supplies, which WOW HF is killing in with welders and supplies, same with auto detailing supplies. I’ve now purchased 3 of their detailing carts because I love them so much, I took one into work. I recently bought a titanium easyflux 125, and plan on buying a Vulcan omnipro 220, or protig 205. I just can’t decide on which one I want, and honestly what makes one better than the other. I am in welding school right now, and of course they recommend Lincoln welders or Millers… I’m sorry I plan on saving the $1,000 once I can afford it.

    • @silentpoet75

      I like the protig. It will do AC tig which you will need if you want to weld aluminum. It can weld as thin as you want. It stick welds pretty decent too.

    Red, I picked up the Bauer mixer when it was on the floor in the Kissimmee store a little while ago. I haven't used it for concrete yet, but I have used it to prep potting mix for wicking tubs. It will mix up 3-4 cubic feet at a time. It has worked superbly!
    It can handle the moistened sphagnum moss and all the other ingredients with no problem, so I am sure it will handle my concrete stair and walkway project this fall when the temps here in Florida drop some.

    The Herc brushless impact driver is still one of my favorite tools to use, both with the 2Ah kit battery for lightness and the 8Ah 26500 for max power and runtime (got it for a 2-for-1 steal). My most wanted from HF is continued expansion of the Herc line with more woodworking tools. A brushless jigsaw and cordless hot glue gun would be awesome. I'm hopeful they get around to it, especially since Herc is gaining ever more momentum

    The Surface Conditioning tool does an amazing job. Having used it on my classic car I do have a couple of suggestions on making it a little bit more user friendly. While I was using it, if I held it on my right side the exhaust/cooling fan was blowing the debris being removed over into me and up under my safety glasses. Yes I got some of it in my eyes, but oh no I couldn't learn from it happening only once...so after the *cough* 3rd time I started holding it on my left side and problem solved. It just isn't as comfortable a holding position for me. Also counter sinking the retaining bolt for the Drums so they are either flush or slightly inset would be amazing. Not sure if its possible or not but a tapered drum would be great for those tighter rolled upward body lines.
    All of that being said I did run into an issue where I would go to use the it and the drum wouldn't rotate. I would hear the motor turn or trying to but it was like there was a lock of some sort holding it in place. When I let off of the trigger the drum would rotate manually but then lock back up when I pulled the trigger. Maybe it was too hot?

    My favorite would be the Bauer Ultra high-torque impact. I’ve gotten more into the Bauer line than I anticipated. The Bauer impacts I have are a great bit of kit. I asked HF about offering the yellow Braun lights in the same colors as the octagon “hockey puck” lights. I’d like the new Braun underhood work light, but not yellow…red would be better.
    Also, it is high time HF stop offering their sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and some pliers in only sets. Come on, Mr. Eric open stock sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, and more pliers would be a lot easier for some of us who only need one of the aforementioned.

    • @aaadamt964
      @aaadamt964 10 месяцев назад +1

      This is exactly why I steer away from their sockets. You have to buy a whole set when you lose one. Pliers and stuff I don't mind. I have a set of tools in each vehicle, home and work. I'd just throw the extras in whatever spot they may come in handy.

      @@aaadamt964 I have had the Pittsburgh 1/2” drive shallow impact socket set for about 8 years, I noticed last week I was missing the 15mm socket and I’m sure I will need it soon. I couldn’t find it anywhere. I don’t want to order tools through the Mail anymore (Sorry Tekton) and I didn’t want to order the ICON version from the website so I went to Lowe’s and bought the Kobalt version. No matter the name, the socket will do the same.

    Great review of the latest HF stuff Jeff. I’m a bag HF fan myself. However I think they have some work to do to out flank their competitors. Wen sells the very same 12 inch drill press through Home Depot with a 2 year warranty for $215. Also the Husky 30 gal oil lubed compressor from HD has better specs, 2 year warranty, return to HD for warranty service over the HF 29 gal. Once you add the 2 year replacement plan to the HF the price is the same. And HD will free deliver.

    I got the Hercules planer and I’m very happy with it. I took some time dialing in the infeed and outfeed tables and I barely see any snipe. I mounted it to the bauer cross cut saw stand, I’m sure the Hercules stand would work too, and it makes a sturdy stand with extended roller supports for the in and out feeds which help me handle running wood on a sled. When you are done using the planer it unclips from the stand and you can store it separately. I’m running off the stand and sitting on a bench with the saw adapter skids under it. Very flexible!

    Something I think that HFT is missing (for me) would be an Extension Tube for the Compact Shop Blower in the Bauer line. I know one is included with the Hercules Shop Blower but I went with the Bauer line because of the homeowner tools for outdoor lawn maintenance. I love my string trimmer and the leaf blower but the shop blower would be complete in my opinion with an extension tube...

    I bought the 3200psi 2.8gpm Predator power washer 3 years ago, and it's been rock solid. HF has raised their prices about $100 across the board since then, and that's a shame because people will buy smaller and miss out on the better-performing models.

    I just got the 10" Bauer drill press a couple of weeks ago. I've drilled a bunch of holes, 40 or so, one after another, in 1/4" cold rolled steel and it worked perfectly. The built in light is handy but I wouldn't call the laser accurate. The table is cast but a little light so it might deflect under heavy pressure but for basic drilling, it seems to be good enough.

    I just bought a few of the brushless as i was happy with the previous hercules tools, although i did kill a hammer drill from 2021 that i maybe drilled about 10 holes with lol as i used a 6in hole saw through sheet metal and the sheer mass of the bit caused the motor to smoke itself to death (gonna try and fix it myself as it only had a 90day warranty) but i did by the brushless one so at least that will have the newer 5 year warranty

    Something nice they could do is. Manufacture an anvil that is over 200 or 300 lbs for blacksmiths that need a larger anvil than the smaller really nice one they have currently. Perhaps a couple larger options for sizes. Also more tools for blacksmiths/knife smiths. Possibly tong blank kits that have mild steel rivets for assembly. Unlike the ones on Amazon that have stainless steel rivets that are more difficult to use with mild steel tong blanks.

    Mr Den I agree with u about the quality of the Quinn set I bought a master set the sockets and ratchets we're great. The Wrenches not that great. The sad thing is don't lose any tools lost a couple sockets called HF customer support they said you cannot buy nothing buy the piece you afto buy another set Then the HF Representative goes you know HF is adding a lot new tools we cannot stock all these tools singulary My response was you think Snap On makes you buy a complete set when you lose a socket. HF really has to address this problem if they want to compete with Tekton & Capri I ended up selling my Quinn set to buy Capri at least if I lose something I could replace it HF has to realize most mechanics have OCD

    The manual tire changer is new for 2023. The old version was discontinued a couple years ago. The new black one has rubber pieces, an updated hold-down piece, and an updated rotation lock (lug pin) that drops in after you tighten down the wheel (old one was captive).
    I was missing the post cap and hold down piece on my old one due to using the motorcycle attachment so I bought the new one last week. No word on whether or not they bring back the motorcycle attachment but the old one appears to be compatible, though mismatched (red vs. black). Obviously, that doesn’t bother me if I’m after a black post cap for my red tire changer. ;) Unfortunately, the new post cap was defective so I had to go back and exchange it.
    The tightening tab on top was only tack welded on four corners and the acme threaded rod on the inside was bent, preventing you from spinning it on/off. The replacement as well as the demo/display unit is fully welded. Something tells me the other one was meant to be pulled from the production line but got painted and thrown in anyway!

A few of my Hercules tools I got from the deals corner in the back of the store a long with a few of my batteries. HF recently just released brushless Hercules metal shears within the past couple of days. So it's really new. So new in fact it's not in stock at my local store yet. They also released the 34" 6-drawer full bank service cart in purple as well. The cart itself is not new, but them adding purple to the color choices is. :)

      @@nickabel8279 I originally got into the Hercules tools when I was starting to buy into Milwaukee's M12 line. I wanted to try them before I committed to buying Milwaukee full on.
      So long story short I bought my mother a 12v Hercules drill, bought the big dual charger and got a deal on some 12v battery packs that were pulled from store display units.
      When I saw how over priced a lot of Milwaukee's bigger stuff was I just started adding on to the Hercules tools a tool at a time. So far I'm pleased with everything I've bought. :)

    Any ideas on what’s happening with the Harbor Freight wood lathes?
    My Laguna crapped out on me and I went to buy the little HF lathe to get me through a project in time for a craft show and to have as a backup / travel lathe only to find that they went on clearance a while ago and are sold out in all of the stores within a 2 hour radius.
    Any chance you can use your pull with Agent Deep Freight to find out what’s going on?
    I’m hoping that they cleared out the old stick in order to make room for something new with a few upgrades like variable speed control….
    🤞🤞🤞

    I would never put a solid handle on my jack. Countless times if used the top 1/2 of the handle as a cheater pipe😂 I’ve also had to take 1/2 off and reattach it to get under trailers to so I could jack them up. Very neat product if you have the correct tool for ever job like some! Until I’m there the two pice is for me.

    @denoftools can we get no skip sizes in the icon series?? Even if it’s a “add on” kit to fill the voids they’ve left. No need to change the kits that we’ve already invested in, just bring out a box that has all the left out sizes of sockets and another kit that has all left out wrench sizes for the icon

    What i think is dumb is that the 3/8 socket set doesn't have the breaker bar. It even still says that it includes a 19 inch breaker bar in the specifications. If it included the breaker bar i think the 3/8 would be a no brainer at $140 matching the price that the tekton set drops to on amazon if you're willing to wait for the sale and set that camelcamelcamel reminder. But having to buy the breaker bar separately and not having it built into the case i'd still lean for the tekton unless you can get the quinn for under $100 If you can get the quinn for under $100 That would make it a prime choice over the tool sets that are being sold around black friday since you aren't paying for filler that is ok at best.

    Id really love to get into the Hercules 20 and 12 volt but the pricing just doesn't match up when it's not offered in kit prices. V.c.g. also touched on this with the 12 volt

    • @BKD70
      @BKD70 10 месяцев назад

      it most certainly does match up... how many chargers do you need? Hercules has been beating the pants off Big Red and Big Yellow for several years now, especially when you consider that if you have a warranty issue, you just take it back to the store and exchange the bad tool for a new one, no questions asked. People keep getting their Fruit of the Looms wadded up over the Kit thing... which is ridiculous!!!

    • @chrishoward4017
      @chrishoward4017 10 месяцев назад

      @@BKD70 Well I think 2 is sufficient in most cases but charges aside kit prices are just a better deal to get you into a platform. And I wouldn't say "beating the pants off " but matching comparably in performance yes .

    I have a question for you that no one at Harbor freight can seem to answer. The Hercules batteries come with a 3 year warranty but they only take the SKU number and give you a receipt. How do they know the receipt I bring in is for that particular battery? What is stopping anyone from bringing in a 4 year old battery with a receipt from a 2 year old battery? These warranties all sound great until you actually have to use them.
