The divine and the demonic traits. I guess it is better and more accurate to say the sattvic and the rajasic/tamasic types. 1: because it’s scary to think that I have “demonic” tendencies/vasanas.. And 2: because the essence of both *are* the gunas anyway.

Sanskrit works for the few who are attracted to Vedic culture but I've found that most Western people are culture centric and ignore anything that seems exotic and mystical. Secular types. I'm about to publish an ancient Sahskrit text without any Sanskrit. If you are interested let me know and I will send you a copy if you will let me know your opinion. You make good comments in this forum so it seems you belong to the people who have 'purva janma samskaras," meaning past life experience as a Hindu. I do so I love the Sahskrit. But I'm not in this world just for my own pleasure. I enjoy communicating with "normal" people outside the tradition and entice them to develop an appreciation for vedanta sadhana, the grandaddy of all "spiritiual" paths.

Yes I completely agree that if you secularise Vedanta it will entice a lot more spiritual types who otherwise would probably be put off by a lot of Sanskrit words, although as you say there are certain none equivalent terms that must be used like the term upadhi, guna and indeed sattva Rajas and tamas themselves. This is one of your main contributions to the Vedanta world especially in the west and what you have been able to achieve in the past 20 years alone is astonishing really. I have had my life transformed in a way that I really didn’t believe possible by Vedanta taught by you. It certainly wouldn’t have happened if I was still only watching videos and reading about Ramana Maharshi and Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, although I have great devotion to both. The big picture is key and karma yoga absolutely essential even if like me a person doesn’t have much worldly karma it’s the knowledge, the essence of karma yoga that has helped to crack the shell of ego in me to educate and make transparent that hard unresolved stuff so that the fine subtlety of pure consciousness shines through.
