Thanks for your idea. The bobbin driver is guite hard to be pulled out by magnet. As it is not always needed to move the driver out, using plier just once or twice does not matter.

Am having trouble with timing as can not get upper thread to pick up bobbin thread with needle at highest point and using the Chinese patcher from Bantam you have demonstrated in your videos, the bobbin case at 3 o'clock. I know mine is a different machine but am wondering if anyone can help me out.
For me my needle was not set to go down far enough. After I adjust that to go as low as possible without banging into the "foot" my machine worked fine.
I purchased my cobbler shoe patching machine and made all adjustments lubed it up and got the needle to pickup the bobbin thread, but when I start sewing the first two stitches the top thread break off like its being torn in the bobbin are, do you have any idea to fix this, I have cleaned and polished the shuttle for the bobbin and bobbin its self.

Thank you Sir, and I found the issue, I was using to large of a thread and to small of a needle, so I need to get a larger needle for the thread that I want to use which is a T210 or T270, and that thread size requires a 25/220, so thanks for the help.
Maybe you could go through a complete tutorial on setting this machine up properly?!. I have watched this video multiple times and set it up per your instruction and still cannot get it to run right. Thx
I have the same problem. I have tried 3 days now. Needle depth, bobbin timing. Watched ALL videos. I cannot get it to run. Not picking up bobbin thread or catching top thread under the bobbin shuttle carrier.
Thank you for your video. But if I may ask: Sometimes when my machine seems like it’s aligned, I could stitch my project a few stitches, and then out of nowhere it seems like my needle gets stuck or “hits” something as it goes into the shuttle and I end up breaking my needle. Do you know what that could be??
Check your needle adjustment. The needle needs to be at the lower bottom so you can just feel it with your finger when the needle shaft is at it's lowest point. Adjust the length at the top of the needle shaft with that screw. That's what helped me out when I had the same issues and the bobbincase driver was adjusted correctly like shown in this video. It is finely running fine now 😊
This is a very good video. I learned much from it. I do not understand correctly choosing the correct needle and thread for sewing very thick leather. maybe 10 oz. I try several kinds of thread, all break. Using HA-1, 140/22 needle, and Anjiyoyo T70 #69 thread. The thread was recommended by the FB group. You know better thread? Thank you
I have used the T135#20 thread with needle 18 for upholstering the sofa leather. They were both ok with occasional snaps not because of the thread and the needle but the friction created for stitching the thickest areas. I haven't tried needle 22. In theory they are too large for the machine. This big sized needle would create very big friction when passing through the shuttle plate hole and inside the shuttle bed groove. The 3 items (top thread, bobbin thread and the needle) would go through the 2 layers of leather and the abovementioned at the same time. Friction created would snap the thread. If you enlarge the shuttle plate hole and the shuttle bed groove, it may be possible to solve the snapping problem. I haven't tried this. You should learn more on this before you try. The T70#69 thread is good for leather work - not too thin. Needle 16 and 18 are good too for this thread.
Hello. Perhaps you can help. I bought the Chinese shoe patch machine in October of 2022. I spent a month watching videos, etc. For some reason I could not get the machine to pick up the bobbin thread. So frustrated I put in the closet for a year. Pulled it out recently, and finally fixed the bobbin thread issue. Once the bobbin pickup worked, then I had an issue of the upper thread breaking. Watched some more videos, and did some intense sanding of all the bobbin parts. That stopped the breaking. Now, the thread is too loose. Before I just immediately tighten the bobbin spring, can you tell what would be causing the bottom thread to be too loose on my finished tests?
1. Tighten the small flat on the side of the bobbin. 2. If not work, tighten the upper thread knob. The result is the bottom thread cannot move the upper thread too much. Bottom thread would be tightened then.
The placing of the needle in the needle bar is not complicated. It does not need any adjustment. Just place the needle onto the needle bar groove. For more details, refer to the Facebook group "China leather shoe patcher". There is a file section where many instructions manual are stored. Read them for free.

I bought one of these machines and it keeps cutting the thread from the main spool as the needle is going into the base plate. I think it must have something to do with the timing of the bobbin but I have checked and rechecked the timing as you have it in your video. What an I missing?
Many possible areas need to take care: 1. Polishing works : every sharp edge along the path the thread goes, e.g the bobbin carrier (edges and holes), hole the needle goes through on the shuttle bed. 2. Any unnecessary tensions created : the thread spool too heavy for the thread to pull, the thread loops formed and jampped in the tension disc 3. Thread and needle not matched: too heavy thread with small sized needle There are many videos on using this machine available on the internet, go through them carefully and soon you will find the gists. Practise more too and learn from the mistakes.

Try loosening the stitch length screw to increase the stitch length. If it's screwed too far in the stitches stack up and does not move forward. This is the screw with the single spring under the top machine arm. Also you could check your pressure foot tension if it's slipping on the material which is the double spring screw next to the stitch length screw.
Thread should match with needle size. Don't use too thick thread for small size needle. You can find out by looking at the needle groove, the thread would go into this groove when you sew. If too thick thread used, it will not fit into this groove. The thread will break after a few stitches. I usually use needle size 18 for my projects. My thread size is 210D / T70. This is a thread commonly used in leather work. Adjust this yourself.

It does not sew straight if you do not hold the material with your hand. The patcher presser foot is narrow and cannot grasp large area of the material. It will slip off the material easily.

The machine needs a lot of filing of the edges of areas in contact with the thread. Unfortunately, this is only part of the adjustment. The author does not show what position the bobbin rack (adjustable by the two nuts shown next to each other) needs to be in for proper timing.
