Came here from TheQuartering. And wow all this stuff takes me back. I'm 45 years old now, and it's probably been 25 years since I last built and ran an R/C vehicle. I loved this stuff when I was young, and seeing it now I still feel the love for it. I had a couple or RTR kits back then, but mostly I would build my own stuff. It seems like the quality control has gotten a good bit better since those days, really makes me want to take a trip to a hobby shop. Hopefully some of them are still around, and not been killed off by the internet.
I got one of these about 4 months ago. Handles great no body roll like some of the others. I also own 2 rally cars a slash and built a backslash. Definitely a fun truck and worth having
👍🏼👍🏼 I watched the old RCNightmare videos with the other guy with you. Years back. Then more recently I’ve found The Quartering and I was like heeeyyyyyy, it’s the RCNightmare guy Jeremy.
Fun channel. It's been years since I was into RC - used to race Indoor circuits back it the day.. remember putting grippy stuff on the tyres to increase grip on wooden flooring and stuff like that. Only thing I'd suggest would be a 2nd camera so we can see your face rather than your chest :) maybe as an inset or something.. maybe more work than it's worth.
The tsm is great for straight line speed runs especially on rougher or loose ground like gravel parking lots. It’s super easy to turn on/off too since it’s just a knob on the controller.
I just bought the Arrma Typhon 3s. Love it, it rips. Almost got the Raptor you are showing here. I watched your last video and I'm back, Got my son a starter Arrma grom, he loves it too. My next buy is a Rustler ultimate and then the maxx slash. Love bashing.
I dont have a single rc truck. Not a one. I fly my rc planes a few times a week, or all day long. Depending on the weather. Just not into buying rc surface vehicles right now. But, like you said, its rc. Its a hobby anyone can enjoy however we please- as long as were not A holes about it. Glad youre back in rc. I enjoy The Quartering content, also. Thanks for this review 👍
I have one of these in black and I love it and yes I have done a number of mods for it. IT IS FAST................. I like it so much I'll probably buy another one. I recommend the black version its awesome.
Cool truck, but that Traxxas tax is nuts. This seems like one of their best offerings in terms of looks. Longer wheelbase aint really what a slash needs, in my view, but them lights and body look great. Give it some sway bars and it's probably pretty fun to drive.
Check out the Rlaarlo AM D12. budget sandrail style basher that I've had a blast with and beat the snot out of. Great option to get into the hobby for more budget minded people. Other than that I love that i can get my news and my rc hobby stuff from the same guy lol
I am subscribed to The Quartering, and I'm not subscribed to this channel... yet somehow, this channel's videos are showing up in my subscribed feed. So weird, never seen anything like it
Thats basic algorithm... if you are subscribed to one of his channels they will assume you may want to watch others. They may be wrong sometimes.. but it makes sense generally.
@@lankyrob6369 But it's not on the "Home" page, but actually in my Subscriptions? Been on YT for decades and never have that happen before. It sort of defeats the purpose of subscriptions in the first place, if I can't choose them myself.
@tacituskillgore7437 I get the editing end..but there is even a significant difference in audio quality...why such wildly different equipment being used?
I have a slash 2wd. I ran it through some water and completely cooked the motor, had to replace it. But the slash is probably about ten years old now though. Did that happen just because it's an older slash? Has their waterproofing gotten better since then?
You gotta dry a motor after running it in water, if you let it sit wet, will still rust. In my experience Traxxas waterproofing is fine. Never had a water issue.
IMO some cars benefit from gyro assistance more than others. I use avc which is a far more tunable than TSM, and I find it works extremely well on the xo-1, slash ultimate and erevo 2.0, but it’s not really beneficial on things like the rustler 4x4, Xmaxx and xrt.
I got this car on release date and it's really good!!! I haven't broken ANYTHING EXCEPT... the damn plastic spur gear... I've had it since like I said it was new and yes I drive it hard but I'm getting sick and tired of breaking that lil plastic spur 😭😭😭 but have I broken anything else??? NO it's rlly durable tbh more durable in someways then my udr
See….ahhhh….I don’t have a 4x4 slash. So if I’m seriously interested it’s either the slash ultimate, Raptor R or ford fiesta. This one comes with lights and is a bit longer, the fiesta is low but coolness factor off the charts and the slash is just itself and speaks for itself. I think the raptor R edges the others out by a nose.
I wish they’d do a trx one. After buying two back to back real life newer broncos that were nothing but issues. I refuse to even buy a Ford rc body. Is def cool looking body though.
Frankly I think it’s a cool truck but… it wasn’t that long ago that the emaxx brushless came with two 3s lipos for $600. I don’t think this truck has any reason to be priced anywhere close to that mark or the slash ultimate. This truck should’ve been around $450. I get they are paying for licensing on the raptor body but they already have it due to the existing raptor slash. All they did was include a cheap led kit and make a longer chassis. That doesn’t garner $150 over a hcg slash 4x4 vxl. I still like the truck, but at the price should’ve had gtr shocks and hoss electronics.
@@Mars_rc_adventurerespectfully that’s not an upgrade. The truck has to have parts to work. So subtract the baseline price of the “normal” parts from the marketing slogan parts and there still isn’t a reason for the price. Raising the price for included “upgrades” is silly.
@gman69455 why wouldn't they charge more for including upgraded parts? That's like saying a phone needs a hard drive, so the 256gb and 512gb should be the same price. Slash 4x4 vxl is $400, extreme heavy duty kit is $120, raptor R body is $140 vs $60 for the regular slash body. Heavy duty plastics are also better for bashing than aluminum. As for the licensing, how I understand it is that it's a fee per vehicle produced and not just a one time fee for X amount of time
@@Mars_rc_adventurethe parts are minimally more expensive per part than the stock parts. You aren’t including the kit on top of the other parts so chargin twice is ridiculous. The truck has to have parts and a body so subtracting the cost of the slash 4x4 parts from the “upgraded” parts does not warrant the price difference. The raptor r body is $100 painted with all plastic parts installed and around $80 clear without. I didn’t say it shouldn’t be marginally more expensive, but for it to be the same price or more expensive than the slash ultimate with all the actual upgrades like aluminum carriers, gtr shocks and sway bar kit? That’s crazy pricing. $450 would’ve been the perfect price point for this vehicle. You’re also forgetting a huge part of the extreme heavy duty kit is the included bearings. The extreme heavy duty parts only run $1-$2 dollars more than standard parts. You’re not making that big of a jump on included parts and you’re also running a taxed electronics system that is dated at best.
@@Mars_rc_adventurealso the 2wd licensed raptor only sells for $20 more than the regular brushed slash. That’s an 8% price difference vs the 25% price increase between the slash 4x4 vxl to the raptor r. Again both raptors are licensed vehicles with molded scale grilles. It’s not unreasonable that for this price the truck should’ve come with gtrs and the bigger motor and esc from the hoss.
I was looking at getting one of these switching from nitro because I can’t find a carburetor anywhere I’m stumped on if I want to get this or the 2wd version it would be great if someone helped me out
Buying Arrma instead. Jokes aside, best upgrade by far is ESC and then steering servo. After that, reinforce the parts that break and get smoother shocks.
I'd like one but I just refuse to buy another traxxas. Great products, but theyre not good for the rc community. Id rather buy team associated, axial, tamiya etc.

Traxxas lost me when they became the Gibson guitars of RC and started sueing everyone for using the word MAX .

Because this is just a passion project in his spare time and becomes unsustainable if he has to spend hours editing...

This truck needed the VXL 4s system and a 2075R servo for the price. Traxxas is pricing these trucks like Ford is pricing their real pickups.
