Hi sir fad. It was a used old rice sacks.
yes, he uses shredded rice or other food sacks like chicken feed etc. That way it's not much to replace them when they get fouled you can replace them cheaply. By the way you can also use the same material in the top of a filter bucket etc. for additional surface area and to catch detritus.
