I love cassettes. I have several hundred metal cassettes myself but haven't listened to them since I converted them to digital. That was a time when CD's were just becoming a thing but were more expensive to buy so people who had little money could only afford to buy the cassettes. A lot of the cassettes I gave to friends of mine when I upgraded to CD and I wish I still had them but times were different back then and I had little space to keep it all. Brings back good memories just looking at them nowadays and remembering times in my youth when I would spend all my money on these things just to eventually watch the technology bypass them and move on. I still remember my big amps and sub woofers in my car cranking my cassette deck and getting pulled over for my music being too loud. My hometown was never a big fan of metal, but I was and I still remember all the hateful looks when I would cruise around listening to tapes and getting insulted because I was a metalhead. Little did I know that I would later on in my life DJ a heavy metal show on the radio and play my collection every Saturday night for 6 hours to a massive audience, many of the people whom gave me dirty looks back then were now fans of the show. Good times. Great video!
Very cool story. Thanks for sharing. Glad I could help bring up some good memories. I've been a metal fan since I was a kid in the 70's. Wore my KISS and Ted Nugent shirts to the church youth group and received some dirty looks because of it. Whatever, who cares! When I hear the music it brings back the good memories of jamming with friends, going to concerts, etc.
@@nolifetilmetal1 Awesome ! I have a few cassette demos like Bloodgood and Matrix ( Bride ) . Id like to come across an original Deliverance Greeting Of Death cassette .
Hi Scott!!! this was once again an amazing video, so cool to see you still have kept all those old tapes and demos. I really like to see all those bands or artists i've never heard before. thanks for sharing and looking forward for part 2, cheers
My dad wouldn't put a cd player in his 73 Chevy so we listened to a ton of cassettes driving around. He only stopped calling CDs "tapes" like 10 years ago
I see a vest behind you, man I miss my highschool denim lol if I'm correct I had Anvil, Maiden, Anthrax, Metallica, drawn by me, I remember thinking of Venom but I didn't wanna scare people too much 😎
Killer cassettes!! Love that Dirty Looks!! I used to have that same Permanent Vacation, i used to have thousands of cassettes but only a few hundred now! Great video!! 👍🤘🤘
Same here. I've given away or traded off most of them. Only a handful left. There are a few I'd still kill to have though. (Mostly a few demos I wish I still had.)
Good morning Scotty. One hundred tapes in thirty minutes? I just barely have one hundred tapes left in my whole collection. I shouldn't have given them away. This should be interesting. Have a good day Scotty~ Rob/Boston
I probably have 250-300 total tapes left. I've given away or traded off most of them from back in the day. Mostly just stuff I've held onto for sentimental reasons or stuff I don't have on CD/vinyl yet. Ever seen that Aerosmith cassette before?
@@nolifetilmetal1 Never Scotty. I have quite a few A-Smith CD promos. My favorite one was What It Takes. Beautiful packaging. I am sure that you have it~
Great cassette collection. Back in the day I had a couple of hundreds and now maybe 250. I still got the original Light Force "Break the Curse" demo. Love the CD of the first Paradox you sent me! Oliver Magnum rules, awesome US Power Metal. Hope you´ll find the time to show the rest of the collection.
Part 2 just went up. It's not the rest of the collection, but it's a another big chunk. The second Paradox is great too. I'll see if I can score you a copy. Your Madrost record came in. Still waiting for another record I ordered for you.

Cleaning out my basement, I tossed all my 50 or so cassettes in the trash about 5 years ago. I regret it just for the nostalgia of some rare hard to find titles, but I really hadn’t listened to them since cd’s came out. 😫
Sweet collection of demos and full lengths on cassette. Anything by Light force on cassette over here is expensive also, seen a copy of Mystical Theives recently that was broken and then glued and repaired and the guy still asking $30 for it.

Hey man just wanna know, is nolifetilmetal.com yours? If so thanks a lot! This is great. I’ve always loved the beginning of metal 60s/early70s but I wanted to expand my library. My dad was a drummer in the 80s-10’s. So I’ve always had that exposure from him. His favorite genre is heavy metal. He didn’t get much into thrash, but I personally like it. Anyways, glad I found you! Keep up the good work :)
Hi. Yes, that is my old site. Put that up in 1999 and kept it up for a couple decades. I haven't updated it in a couple years as the site is very dated looking and I don't have the time or resources to rebuild the whole site. However, the info is still all there.
That is a heck of a lot of compact discs in the background.

Ha! Nice I found that Angel on 8 Track in the Wild!
Nice. I don't have a ton of 8-tracks, probably 25 or so. That Angel 8-track is a sweet find!

I hate cassettes due to the sound quality but I also collect my favorite albums and uncommon tapes. More into collecting VHS though
I'm with you. I am not a huge fan of cassette tapes, but they do have their place in music history, especially with demos of many bands.
