Between the "cries" and the belting she's doing, this song is just an amazing vehicle to showcase Kirstie's vocal talents! The black-and-white photography with "pops" of gold color (jewelry, room fixtures) is a nod to the posters for the movie, which were all black-and-white with the only color being the gold lettering in the title, A Star Is Born.
I grew up in the 60's/70's and I have heard (and loved) a lot of REALLY GREAT music. This is not only one of my favorite songs by Pentatonix, it is one of my favorite songs of all time! Everything about this rendition of "Shallow" is perfect! Not a single one of the members could have done his/her part better! I enjoyed your reaction and look forward to seeing more.
There are many things that I love about PTX. One of their most outstanding qualities is their complete lack of ego. They assign the different parts in the song according to which of their talents is going to do the song justice. It was lovely hearing Kisten and Scott doing joint leads on this one. But, on the next song they will be just as happy supporting of the other singers doing lead vocals. I enjoyed your reaction. It was lovely seeing you lose yourself in the magic touch that defines PTX.
Kevin's chello elevated this song so much, that the original feels somehow flat now. PTX has this amazing gift of delivering lyrics, melody and mood of the song in such a way, it just hits you and sometimes their version makes you realize the meaning of a song, as if you were listening to it for the very first time
Scott can just paint a song with that textured voice he owns. I Love, LOVE Kirstin's voice. I really feel her performing on Broadway in Kinky Boots brought such a confidence with her singing. She has always had a lovely voice but man can she stretch her vocals to stunning effect. Everything just melds together from the backgrounds to the fore, amazing.
I wasn’t a fan of the original, maybe because it was played to death, but I absolutely love this version! Every single one of them was amazing in their parts.
I really, REALLY loved this upgrade. Kirstie's voice cuts right through all the male voices with such clarity and precision, and her belts are so strong and powerful. She really nailed this one. Mitch's part in this was EPIC and that growl at the end of his part, MM MM, MM. So good. I had to play it four or five times over. I couldn't get enough. Sensational performance !!
Great song and cover! All of them did great, this is one of the best songs of Kirstin, this and Say something, Scott great, and Mitch, belting the Lady G part, the base of Matt and the feeling Kevin brings to the song with the cello and the beatbox
They absolutely SLAY this song!! The original was good. I remember being pleasantly surprised by Cooper. THIS version is in a different realm. Kevin playing cello and doing percussion at the same time? Crazy. This might be my favorite performance from Kirstin... and that's high praise! Great reaction!
This is one of their most beautiful covers. My breath goes short *every time* they ramp up to Mitch's vocalized solo. Scott and KIrstin kill the duets. Kevin's tone is so lovely and sensitive and Matt goes right along with it.
They make you feel every note. I love their ability to convey so much emotion. Have you seen their newly released rendition of Creep? They sang it on the masked singer after they were unmasked.
You should also check out their cover of Say Something. Kiretin takes the lead again, and it feature more incredible "celloboxing" from Kevin.. It is sure to give you chills.
Whatever they do is perfect. Personally I heard this song from them many times and most of these times (although I am a man) I cried a lot. There is something in the way they sing this that melts my heart. Your fun from Greece.
I think what sets Pentatonix apart from every other group is that they don’t try and out sing or outshine each other. Also they also very balanced in talent. Scott Baritone, Mitch Tenor, Kirstie Soprano, Matt or Avi bass, Kevin Beatbox. Ive seen groups that are mostly bass or Baritone and that doesn’t work for me. Again I appreciate the time you take when writing your description’s. Thank You!
You are one of the few Reactors to this song by PTX that seemed to recognize Kirstin's 'Shout Out' to Lady Gaga with the opening Riff of "Bad Romance" at 3:41...
Hey Jeff! I don't know if you remember me from high school but I just wanted to say congrats on the channel and I'm glad to see you followed your passions! My husband is a PTX fan and came across this video. It was super cool to say "I know that guy!" Hope you're doing well and wish you continued success!
Of course I remember you and your hugs! Do you remember me as the "old man"? 😂 I'm happy to see you and your husband found one of my videos on RUclips and enjoyed it! Thanks for your comment and for reaching out 😊
It's frequently said that Pentatonix doesn't cover a song, they upgrade it. Having already been a longtime Pentaholic when they released this, hearing this song confirmed that. My personal thought was, with this having followed their collab with Dolly Parton on her classic "Jolene", Kirsten was still incorporating a little more Dolly-style vibrato in her technique than usual.
This is in my top 3 favorite videos of Pentatonix's and on my regular playlist. And I can't stand the original!! And not because it was overplayed, because I actually never heard it until after hearing PTX's version (yes, I live under a rock!). They just ruined any other version for me! Great reaction!
Scott is such and upgrade to Bradley Cooper. No offense to Brad, he did a decent job, but Scott’s voice was made for this. And mad props to Kirstie for taking on and absolutely slaying GaGa’s part. So much power and emotion in her voice. Love love love when she sings in her lower register.
I didn't dislike the original, but I didn't really love it either. Hearing PTX do it made me really like it though. I think the lyrics don't really "speak to me" but Scott's & Kirstie's voices are just more pleasing to my ears & so I like how it sounds more than the original. Does that make sense?

I have plenty more reactions to Pentatonix on here 😁
PTX is always amazing, but this is particularly beautiful and I always love when Kevin brings an instrument!
Right?! His playing is so beautiful compliments their a cappella
And he is beatboxing while playing the cello

Very true!!

I completely understand where you're coming from.

Agreed! Kirsten's voice really shines and sparkles in this one.
PTX always delivers the EMOTION of any piece they do. Just gorgeous 🔥❤️🙌
I am astounded how Kevin can play so beautifully and beat box at the same time!! I love how PTX sang this song perfectly.
Yes, it's quite amazing!
OMG! Kirsten did a great job with this cover. She has a huge voice, when she chooses to us it. Blew me away
Agreed! Her vocal presence is powerful 🎵
Great song and cover! All of them did great, this is one of the best songs of Kirstin, this and Say something, Scott great, and Mitch, belting the Lady G part, the base of Matt and the feeling Kevin brings to the song with the cello and the beatbox

Beautiful harmonies! Beautiful song!!❤❤
😁
Did you notice those few notes from Bad Romance? These guys and Ben Bramm are really geniuses at arranging
Haha I did! Someone in the comments was happy that I pointed it out.
One of their best for me, and that’s saying a LOT! Thanks for another great reaction.
Happy you enjoyed it 😁
I love this PTX version, it is sooo well done. I can listen to over and over again.
Nice!! 🎵👍
When you commented on the power in Kirstie's voice, I could hardly wait for your reaction to when she pushed her belt button. I was not disappointed.
😂👍

My favorite part is Mitch’s build up to chorus. 😊
Yes!! Very powerful!
This is a beautiful and emotional song
😊👍

There's nothing wrong with a man crying 😊 Glad you enjoyed the video!

Kirstin has her own music on the EP Love with videos of Break a little, Naked, Bad weather.
Blown away!
I like it better than the original. Thanks for the reaction.
Thanks for watching!

Sometimes my ear just hears things that others don't. I should do some Lady Gaga reactions on here eventually 🤔

You should listen to PTX do Creep...it's new. Talk about Mitch-slap!
Thanks for the suggestion. Not sure if I've listened to that one yet.
@@JeffreyHackReacts Released Thursday I believe.
Just wait till you get your first full Mitch slap 👋. It will happen, trust me. 😅😮😂❤❤
Oh I've had my fair share of Mitch slaps 😂 But I'm sure there are more!
Please react to Pentatonix singing:
Oh Come All Ye Faithful like you never heard it before👍👍👍👍👍👍
I actually can't react to that one because I listened to it before I started making reactions on RUclips. I appreciate the suggestion though.
PTX makes you listen to every word. They grab you.
Yes! This is true and a great observation.
This is in my top 3 favorite videos of Pentatonix's and on my regular playlist. And I can't stand the original!! Recommend their new track, Creep.

You just got "Mitch slapped"...
Dare I say it? Yes - I love this version MORE than I did Lady Gaga's version, which was mighty good too !
I love it. It’s not a capella because of the cello. Doesn’t mean it’s not great though
Exactly! 💯
lovely , I didn't recognise the asian lady !
Hm, a tiny nod to Bad Romance in this?
Kirstin ate well here, better than gaga i think
Very powerful!
