Mexico is a whole vibe. I went with my fiancé and his sister and we stayed in Playa. I will say I watched a bunch of vlogs before we went, and learned to rent (locally). Spent $200 on a week long rental which included the insurance you need out there. And if you guys really enjoyed Xcaret I say do the Fuego event at night.

I just have a few questions if you could help. Did you book this trip directly from their site or third party? Did you book the excursions before hand or at the resort?
