That doesn't look like copper wire....it looks more like Sterling or stainless steel...what is the tool that you used that had a flat flared out look at the head, that you used to flatten the chain that you were making? (Don't think I've ever seen anything like that!)
It's the silver plated copper wire. The name of the tool is duck bill pliers.
