You had the best explanation on how to do the maneuver with as little words as possible and getting to the point quick. Other instructors do so much talking you lose interest in their lesson.
Thank you Phillip, There are some great guys out there, but some instructional videos are extremely long. Thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate it.
Every skill you teach and explain how to do just increases my knowledge for the street. Yes I've been riding for years, but we do tend to get lazy and forget the fundamentals from time to time...this is the real deal people...Look, listen and learn. Thanks Boots and Jeans...this is Good RUclips.
I appreciate that Tony, don't know how I missed this comment. Yes the fundamentals got us there so we must not get lazy and forget them. Trust...we have been there, I had a GW 1500 also and had to relearn the basic slow skills that I took for granted while riding a smaller bike.
This is honestly super helpful! Today was my first day riding the motorcycle and my stop and turn/u-turns were always bad (have to put my foot down to not fall over) I hope this can make me ride better tomorrow :))))
Hey Lin...Congratulation on getting that first ride in. I wish you many more successful rides for years to come. Thanks for watching and I truly hope it helpful.
Yeah just sneak in 5 minutes of practice before each ride and you will be fine. We have had the pleasure of riding with you and you are a very good rider.
@@BootsandJeansRiders I did mean counterbalancing. When I’m going at higher speeds in the twisties, I push the bike away from me and sit up straight off the seat like you showed in the video. I guess you could call it a combination of counterbalancing and countersteering.
Congratulation on taking a class, Its the first step in becoming a safer rider. And the more safe you are, the more fun you will have. Thanks for watching and commenting, we appreciate it.
Great video again! I appreciate your perspective, to know that it feels (is) lighter on that 900 lbs. Goldwing using the proper [Head and Eyes] + counterbalancing techniques. Most of us are not riding the 900 lbs. bikes (I think I heard a possible Gospel singing voice at the end of the video?) 👍
Yeah Cadillac, the key words are "Feels lighter"...because wen this 900 lb. monster starts to go down, there is nothing one do except to go with the flow. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it.
Great work and clear instructions but the demo isn't really clear because of the motorcycle fairing and windshield is getting in the way of the camera view.
Great video Rich. You have a new subscriber. I turn 62 next month and buying a new bike for my birthday. I have not been on a motorcycle in 17 years since I sold my Harley Street Glide. I do love the heavier bikes with fatter tires and eyeing the Low Rider ST but not sure if it's wise for a old man to but a 727 lb motorcycle. So watching all the videos I can on safety and going to take the MSF course gain and any advanced riding courses that Harley offers. Even thinking about taking a few private lessons from Jerry Paladino or Robert Simmons as I am sure you know of those two retired motorcycle cops who also have great YT channels. What's your thoughts about an old man buying a heavy bike that has fairings and saddlebags which I definitely need? Thanks for the great content and learned a lot from this this video. Safe travels my friend🙏
First, welcome to our channel, and thank you for subscribing. And welcome back into the motorcycle world. Taking another class is the best move you can make when getting back into riding after a long layoff. Jerry and Robert are the way to go. I've met Robert and he is a great guy. Haven't met Jerry. My thoughts on a heavy bike are...The bike isn't heavy when you know how to handle it in slow situations. So with that, go for it!
@@BootsandJeansRiders Thanks for the reply and I agree, a bike is not heavy once you can master the friction zone , rear brake , throttle control etc and practice, practice and more practice. Thanks again for a wonderful informative channel.👍
Thanks I appreciate it. Yeah we love the wings but if I (Rich) change bikes, it would be an Indian. Check out this video ruclips.net/video/6LqOgStKfww/видео.html
Your butt should never EVER “slide” on the seat my dude… you’re changing the whole dynamic of the bike… you lean (your butt cheek raises off the seat) but should NEVER “slide” that’s what your upper body is for. You ass should never “slide”.
There are different ways of making u turns better. This is what I am demonstrating. The best way is what works best for each individual. I’ve known several people who take their foot off the floorboards/pegs and said it is the best way to do it. I would not tell them that they are doing it wrong, it is just a different way of accomplishing the same task. Putting your butt slightly off the seat will not change the dynamics of the bike, in my experience. In this video, I’m giving you options. Any rider can choose not to use it.

Very easy to follow your mind while you are practicing
Thanks you so much.
Peeeeeace!! Was practicing stopping today. Thanks for the great vlogs
Yeah Spencer, Stopping is the most important skill to practice. Especially emergency stops, Yet most never practice it. Keep it up!
Peeeeeeace!

Yes, Frank, we can't get enough practice. When we are on a BikeCation and have to use it...Man, we just smile. lol
Very good information. The best explanation and example that I have seen. I will get out and practice as soon as possible
Hey Terry, thanks for the complement I appreciate it.
Yeah even if its just a little practice, its better than none.
Thanks Rich...I have always heard people talk about counter balance and I still find it a bit tricky. Must practice more--Thanks again!
Yeah just sneak in 5 minutes of practice before each ride and you will be fine. We have had the pleasure of riding with you and you are a very good rider.
Counterbalancing is a good thing to know. I’ve been using it for years when I’m riding the twisties at high speeds.
Hey Robert always good to hear from you. But I think you meant counter steering at high speeds.
@@BootsandJeansRiders

That was a perfect tutorial and a great practical app. Great stuff.

@@BootsandJeansRiders yeah bud, the challenger is wing comfy, but not as smooth in the throttle. Wing has that beat.
How do I do this on a cruiser bike with forward controls? I can't use the foot pegs to lift my butt up and move it to the side...
Good question...No need to lift very high. Just slide to the side and back over once the turn is completed. Try it while the bike is parked first.
Informative video 👍✌
Thanks ✌️Appreciate you watching.
