Looks like i choose the right time to watch this video lol, im glad they where so relatively quick i hope the promised extra waves of security updates come hacking is definitely getting worse for apex as time goes by.

I think the worry is less Destroyer and more other hackers abusing this huge security breach.
100% this. Destroyer despite being smart enough to control servers and player's PC, he doesn't seem to have much malicious intent to hurt the player base as much as he wants to mock the devs and EA.
That said, all it takes is some idiot to get a hold of tools needed to begin attacking players and maybe even get a hold of their personal data.

Not to mention, if you watch Asmongolds video on the subject, the people who were hacked said their pc's now have viruses. If you need proof of this, watch Imperial Hal's stream where PirateSoftware CONFIRMS the hacker had access to both Imperial Hal's and Genburtens PC's.

it is extremely normal for companies to push the boundaries of how much money they can make, you are not forced to buy things, it doesnt give in game advantage. Its perfectly human. Get over it

As a fan of both apex never did anything to titanfall so I never understood the hate, apex was its own team and the decision on tf3 was ultimately never up to them

@@toccandocreacanaleulterior176 the game suffers/suffered from a few similar issues apex does, when I was super into it balancing was always an issue (I hate games that do the "if you can't beat em join em" meta for things) and both are very unwelcoming to new players and thus suffer from a lack of influx of new players, cheating/hacking/ddos attacks, to me after stepping away for quite some time, while I dont mind checking in, both have fallen so hard

this situation makes me think, how many times has a hacker done this to somebody and actually wanted to get them banned. There isnt much the streamer can do to prove their innocnece at that point.

I feel like player should be compensated for this. With free legendary packs of hell a heirloom. This is some serious scandal for them and for them not to address and be more concerned with events speaks volumes of the company.
Why? Its your choice if you uninstall the game or still play it and get hacked if you get hacked, which will not happen just people randomly panicing.
They are not :More concerned with events". In Pirate Software's video, he explains that there are branches in the company. One focuses on things like events, yes, while others focus on things like Cyber Security and such things. It is unreasonable to assume that their priority is events currently, as the drop in playerbase would also drop the amount of income they can pull in from said event. They must be so frustrated, working on this and trying to make it better, while the players are judging them so harshly. I cannot imagine the stress they are going through currently.
@@roli.7668aside from this screw up, we should have gotten compensation for the trash servers, the 6 manners on ranked and pubs, the hard cheaters on pc, the lack of content for many seasons(according to respawn, they are “filler seasons”…) and the anti cheat itself. Like you said, we can leave if we like, but the reason most stay is because they love the game so much to the point where they want prosperity for it. I guess the majority have been wanting to get compensation for the laziness from respawn, which isn’t a needy ask

I am one of them cuz i main Maggie and Ballistic and both of them have no heirloom so maybe 5 legendary packs will be good.. Anyway shards will become useless from now on cuz u won't be able to buy anything new with them bc the 700$ heirloom won't be added to the mythic shop..🤷
Be realistic, getting few treasure packs is more probable, because people are scared to play and don't get them daily.
Pirate Software found some really cool leads at the end of his most recent stream. He got the IP of either a jump box or another compromised computer that the hacker was using. He also found that Destroyer needs a server ID before he can invade, or at least it's easier for him to invade...? Idk, but it is really interesting stuff.
Good thing I started the Mass Effect Legendary edition recently. Out of Apex until we get confirmation. So sick of the issues in this game.

Basically just listen to the video of what Thor had to say. He explains the whole situation for like 20 min if your truly worried about playing and want to know. Asked streamer yesterday and seemed like many of her friends (pros / streamers) are playing though she said she wasn’t gonna say to play it or not play it.
Idk if this is related but I was playing ranked earlier on console and there were only 5 people on the drop ship. This happened for like 5 games straight lol

Crazy to think that other hackers may have had access to internal Respawn tools & have been using them in ranked...
But if it isn't RCE then how did the hacks appear on the players PCs? Unless that is suggesting that they were already there? But even then why did the menu for them suddenly come up? How would a server sided hack cause that?

Last time I was on apex. I flying through the air. With my teammates banner once I flew near a respawn beacon my character instantly turned around and flew straight to it. Had no control over it

If I were a hacker, I would do the following if issues aren't addressed
For the new collection event, you can now gift players a lot of coins for free so they can purchase the new heirloom with no charge. Gifting coins is much easier than spending money.
Since Destroyer2009 has access to server commands, you can easily target the console casuals by insta-kicking them when he joins their server, and I wouldn't doubt if he can also manipulate how long the penalty will serve (I would have last about a year).
Theoretically, not even consoles are safe since having full server control will not be influenced by what device you play the game.
Right, the PC only comes into play if this is RCE. No one wants control over your xbox lol. For the server side of things (bots etc.) I don't see why platform would matter.

I watched pirate software's full interview, and judging from what he's saying, sounds like a disgruntled ex ea/respawn employee gave destroyer access to the servers, or a current employee has one of their own machines compromised without knowing and that's how destroyer has been doing all of this.
oh is this going to be one of those "by son accessed my work laptop", guessing EA fired the person in charge of cleaning up ex employee accounts too!
If you have watched the whole thing, i think you misunderstood much of it. This is literally not what he has said to be the most likely thing. Could also be, that you don't have enough knowledge to understand what he had to say in the first place.

Its way more likely their machines were compromised, especially now knowing hal had another machine/server connect to his on stream.

RCE is a bit more than crashing a game.
normally in cybersecurity, RCE describes the kind of exploit, and how bad it is. RCE is usually considered the worst possible case.
Remote code execution - basically means the hacker is able to run ANYTHING from commands to downloading viruses.
we all really hope it is not an RCE or the hacker isn't aiming to harm players since that would mean the game basically becomes a trojan that is
already trusted by your system.
1:25 being confident does not prove that EAC could or couldnt be responsible...

it seems even more likely they don't care because they could shutdown access to the game if this IS going on a large scale, but of course they won't in stream of frequent income of microtransactions.
I think it’s prob pretty safe to play rn. Destroyer said he was only doing it to be funny, and that he wouldn’t install any malware. He also said he was only targeting big names, streamers, pro players, and we don’t even know if he was using rce or he individually targeted Hal and gen’s pc outside of apex

I stopped but then played because respawn is still pushing out content and will not cut back on lost time for the battle pass or tasks like the reactivate flatline skin. So I'm stuck in a rough place.

Why would console be safe? As Thor said, the 2009 guy has server access to Apex, explaining how he was able to give someone thousands of packs. SO platform doesn't matter. If there is an RCE, it's the same the platform doesn't matter. The only way console is safe is if 2009 doesn't have any kind of server access and only put his software on the pros PC, which is probably the case. Giving people Apex packs doesn't work that way though, so 2009 does have server access.
consoles are most likely safe, they are very very controlled by its operating system unlike how desktop operating systems work so dont worry!

Staying off Apex as a pc user caused me to miss the last one or two goals for the Rampart mission. :/ It would be great to hear almost anything from EA or Respawn.
It's not super clear, but those legend missions don't actually expire. I spent the few days after Rampart's came out finishing Fuse's.
You have until the end of the battle pass to finish every legend. None are time gated so don’t worry about it.
the missions dont expire, i still have to do fuse's and i was able to start doing ramparts.

I play on the dallas server, if a hacker can get access to the server side(which i believe is what thor said yesterday about the 40 bots he was able to spawn) then wouldnt that mean that every system on that server is at risk?

this basically means you can cheat like the pros and say "oh my god respawn someone is hacking my computer" and then boom your account is unbanned especially if your running the hacks on a proxy PC.
I want to point out that pirate software thinks that Hal and gens pcs where compromised in other ways not from apex. (There is a clip of Hal downloading something and basically saying what is this idk I’m going to download it anyway lol). He said it is possible destroyer has rce on just the server but not to player clients. Meaning he can execute code on the server such as generating bots, packs or flagging for bans. Still a problem but way less dangerous for the players. So as always be careful what you download on the internet 😂
If you are still curious just watch pirate softwares video. It’s about an hour long but he illustrates everything rly well. Also briefly talks about why it can feel like respawn only care about the money sometimes.
I want to share my experience during the hacking situation.
Was about to play a game, then steam suddenly require me to log in again. When I was about to go and let them send the code, the email was not mine. It ended in .ru, so i logged into my ea account, good thing i got in. But the email addresses, phone numbers were changed to something else. Also, the default location was on a random place in china.
Immediately contacted ea support and let them do their thing, accessed the account, changed the pw and. Stuff. After a few mins. My account was restored to its original state.
But that doesnt end there, when I logged in game.. MY ACCOUNT WAS BOOSTED TO PLAT 3, deleted all friends on my list. Changed ALL banner , tracker and poses. I mean, why?
Also what we knpw It’s an advanced hack that community figures are still making sense of. A notable anti-cheat account on X, anti-cheat police department, initially suspected that Destroyer2009 may have utilized an RCE (Remote Code Execution) cheat. They also confirmed it with Destroyer2009 himself. More information has been revealed now. or atleast thats what the news says
People really think outside the big picture. If the security for respawn is chalked, there not gonna stop there job just for one incident they have bills to pay and money to make its there job😂. I may get hate for it but🤷♂️

Ive had this. I have also been banned because of this (at 3 of night which is strange because i was asleep). Now i dont supose it was destroyed 2009 since he isnt malicious. It may have been someone who took control or somehow logged into my account. I dont know what it is.

I always expected EAC to have backdoors but for the chinese government for when it comes time to exploit but not random hackers.
What confused me is that Genburten's teammate sounds like he knew he is getting hacked before Gen mentioned it. Or did I mishear him, it sounds like "you're getting hacked, don't worry about it" before Gen has a chance to explain what is going on his machine.

What happened isn’t hard to do… it’s just illegal to the point where if you get caught you end up in jail for years over hacking a video game, this is super common just doesn’t happen becuase most people aren’t stupid enough to do it. Still crazy that someone can take a games database and completely tap into it.
