Very enjoyable watch. It seems to me that with West Ham looking to raid the Championship for the best English players (to make up their quota) then surely Flynn Downes falls into that category. He's now had a full season playing at the top end of that league and must be brimming with confidence. Must keep him in my view, unless he chooses to stay at the Saints of course.
Cheers John Downes seems to divide opinion amongst the fan base Some say he’s premier league level, others say he’s championship level We’ll get to find out next season as he’ll be representing either West Ham or Southampton in the premier league next season
You three make a proper pair. No seriously, excellent banter guys. Hard to riff during the silly season as there's so much potential news but no actual news. Thumbs up.
Enjoyed the show, but one point I would make about not playing the youngsters was that West Ham had the lowest time in the league with time given to them playing in the premier league. Brighton were top so I would ask how do you know if they are ready for the premier unless you put them in & see how they do.
Good point mate but then someone else would argue that we finished above Brighton in the league. And would we have done if Moyes played the youngsters It’s a difficult subject which is why I asked how fans would view lopetegui if he also doesn’t play the youngsters
But we would both agree that Brighton are a lot smaller club than us so we should be finishing above them. My point is with Brighton playing their kids (over 4,000 minutes of premier football) their sell on value goes up because they have played in the premier.
Easy Stel. Hard to keep up with all these links. we were even sniffing around Mbappe apparently.hehe Gassova dont make sense to me as we can just go for him in January but i guess it depends on if it comes out of the January budget or this summer budget as i would prefer this budget going to players for now. For some reason im feeling Jota Silva and Guilherme/ Gassova as cover. All these attacking new incoming seem exciting but if we dont deal with our defence, we"ll end up being a you score against us and we will just score more than you.hehe Thanks for the updates mate. Cant wait for the next one. COYI
Hello mate I think gassova is to make sure we get him before other clubs nab him first But you’re absolutely right our defence is what needs most work Ironically we did well in attack last season, but we couldn’t keep clean sheets
7 minutes in and Sean says “they call him the Spanish David Moyes” - who is ‘they’? It was just an easy dig that did the rounds on social media, even my teenage son said it…. If we were still unsure until the Palace game then that really is poor (typical) WH board mentality - DM had to go and I’m pleased he has as we needed a change of direction - I’m right behind Lop atm
I think Sean was just paraphrasing comments of many people on social media who had decided that Lopetegui was not the answer… hence the Spanish David Moyes phrase
@@WESTHAMVOICE yes you’re probably right and I should give him the b of the d, he does have a bit of previous when it comes to stating the unimaginative 😉
Surely with Tim being brought to the club just after our conference win it was obvious that West Ham were going in a new direction (coach not manager) & so the contract offer to David Moyes was for a coach role not manager. That was the reason Moyes wouldn’t sign & I guess he hoped by winning the Europa league he could change the boards mind with a different contract. Once we was out of the Europa Moyes was a dead man walking as our manager.
Hi Stel mate. Considering these rumours are true. I would like to see En Nesyri in as J-Lo knows how to play him and if we get him for around £17M, that is budget friendly with quality. I would like Zaha come in, only if we get Silva in aswel, 1st choice Silva and Zaha as understudy and for cup games. Luis Guilherme obvious yes, as i like we are trying to look for the next big thing and planning ahead for when Kudus leaves next year when his release clause gets activated. Kilman is an obvious yes too, just worried this transfer will eat up our budget and leave us short somwwhere. we still need a RB, RCB, and maybe a centre midfielder or box to box midfielder. I guess we just have to put our trust in Timmy but it is refreshing that we are wheeling and dealing before the window opens and not have to see good signings get signed by other teams due to us dithering or waiting while twiddling our thumbs.hehe As ysuak great show and thankful for the update. Till the next one. COYI
Hello mate… definitely the positive is that we’re trying get our business done early… let’s hope that happens… en nesyri would make sense and so long as we get a left sided attacking player I almost don’t mind who… but would still prefer a younger player As you say, our transfer budget will be spread thin so we might try to avoid spending big money on just one player
Sean was right, Moyes is an arrogant man but just look at the vacant managerial jobs that are out there at the moment, Leicester, Burnley, even Plymouth and Moyes has not been mentioned for ANY OF THEM ... now that says it all
What do you mean "says it all"? I think it shows just how much the media and loudmouth morons amongst the general public can create misleading narratives that bear zero relation to the truth, so I suppose the fact he hasn;t been linked to these other jobs does "say it all" just that "all" doesn;t inlude any comment on how good Moyes is.
Youth of course you have to be careful in operating them but our youth team has been outperforming others of late and in the end unless you give the best of them some minutes and build that up as and when they show promise. Fact is Moyes refused to do that so as yet we simply don’t know their potential, instead he preferred to play the likes of Ings et al often with the aim of losing by less, which itself failed abysmally and wasted time in a season we were safe in to test young players who will if successful give us success we will never have the budgets to otherwise achieve.
I ask the same question as I’ve asked others. If lopetegui doesn’t use youngsters is he also wrong to do so? Or is it because our youngsters aren’t as good as we think?
@@WESTHAMVOICE You are asking the wrong question it simply isn’t BandW it is a nuanced argument. I have long argued on Kumb that our past young players have not shown enough to be retained so you cannot hang that one over me, however you make that judgement by carefully testing them in appropriate moments and situations particularly when risk is low to see how they respond and you then use or not use them accordingly. No one can seriously claim that Moyes did this. If our new Manager does do this then he will be congratulated if he does not then he will deserve some criticism however in the end a sense of realism with young players is required on both sides of the argument and that is what I am calling for over the unhelpful Black or White attitude to their ability meaning you have no faith in them or too much faith in them. That simply gets you no where.
@@stuartwillard6558 you said something in your reply which immediately reminded me of what Moyes did with young players. He actually did use academy players in low risk situations throughout his tenure at West Ham but in the end got slated for doing so I remember the Zagreb game when we had already won the Europa league group, where Moyes used half a dozen young players. And Moyes did the same thing sporadically throughout the 4.5 seasons he was at the club. The only problem with what he did was that he rarely followed this up by using youngsters more frequently, apart from mubama who did transition from the academy to the senior squad But alas with the whole contract situation, mubama was never going to be allowed to further his development without committing to West Ham. There are possibly three academy players who may have benefited if Moyes stayed on… Marshall, Potts and now Earthy They’ve all, in some ways been given an opportunity by Moyes to show what they’re capable of… Marshall with the trust there was for him to go on loan to a championship side (albeit it one that I feel held him back rather than improved him), Potts with his successful loan to Wycombe, and at the end of the season as we all know, earthy who was given first team game time I do hope as you say that lopetegui gives those three players, if not more, the opportunity to demonstrate that they are indeed part of West Ham’s future. If they don’t get given the opportunity then I’ll follow their careers to see if they become successes elsewhere
Make you right John, the fat one didn’t shut up & the one in is shed is just a know it all. Next time I think Stell should warn you if we’re coming on though, save you wasting time with your comment ⚒️
Sorry you didn’t enjoy them as guests John As the title of the channel says .. West Ham Voice .. I’ve known both Nigel and Sean for a long time and they do bring a different perspective which is refreshing

We need a replacement for Coufal !! aswell as two cb's and a forward imo .. Great show guys thanks ......
Great show Stel , you always get a good un out of Nigel and Sean. Not bad for an amateur mate !
Hahaha thank you mate

Yes, Sean we know agents want millions, specially Dave Sullivan’s best mates they’ve taken millions of pounds from our club
Fantastic show Stel. Let the transfer window open!!
Thank you mate

The legend?
😂
Looks like leicester are after Moyes ?
I haven’t heard that one
