There was a weirdo at my school who used to look at the Sun for 10 to 15 minutes everyday during recess and lunch. Even if he had tears coming in his eyes, he would force his eyes open with his fingers and continue to look at the Sun. His reason for looking at the Sun was because the Sun kills germs in his eyes.
I remember when I was like 7 years old my friend and I played a game to see who can stare at the sun for the longest. We both stared at it for probably a little over two minutes. It was like 110 degrees outside and our hands were really red and sensitive for a while.....yeah we were stupid lol glad we don’t do dumb stuff like that anymore.
There's no way you can stare at the sun for two minutes without blinding yourself. A man in 1963 blinded himself after staring at a total solar eclipse for just 20 seconds, and it's a total solar eclipse! So, saying that "nothing too crazy happens" and that you only need to wear glasses after staring at the sun for two minutes is fake as hell.

(IF YOU DAMAGED EYES) I have recently damaged my own eyes, but this comment isn't about me! It's about you! I'm writing this comment to help and clear up some fog since either you searched for this video or it was in your recommended probably not the latter. If you stared into direct sun, eclipse, or even a really bright light please take some time, and maybe this comment might help you. If you're concerned that you hurt your eyes temporarily or permanently read the rest, please. Good, now that I got your attention. You probably did stare into something bright, if so and its direct sun and you have had an afterimage ( Purple or black type spots when you look at a bright light for a long or short time ) for a while and you're concerned about it you have the same problem I had, you did damage to the retinal area of your eyes and it is going to heal over time! This will take 1-2 days but probably 3 days maximum. If it doesn't go away and you're not willing to wait so long to figure out what's wrong, I highly recommend to go see the following (Ophthalmologists) but then there's a different thing that could have happened. If you see a grey spot in the center of your eye please go see a (Optometrists or Ophthalmologists) this might mean you have burned a hole in your cornea and depending on how big the hole is, it can be permanent damage. And it would take surgery to repair :( . But if you still uncertain and your panicking feel free to leave a reply to this comment! and if I have helped then I'm really happy that I could have done so! And always for in case please please please go see a specialist or an Eye doctor ASAP!
Last year I would stare up at the sun at summer to see if I could see the sun spots. Now my eyes are sensitive to light (it's not that bad it just hurts to be outside during the day) and when I go out in the sun for just a minute and go back inside, the fuzzy yellow-ish dot we see takes away 50 -75% of my vision for a short period of time
Hi are you still having this problem? Even if it’s cloudy, my eyes still hurts just by looking at the sky and not even the sun.. Do u know what’s the reason? I could stare at the sunny sky for a long time last time.
@@firestyt3440 I don’t know what the reason behind the issue is but I have that problem too. Now I need glasses but that’s due to excessive phone usage, I’m not sure if that also has to do with my sensitivity to light. I haven’t really gone to an eye doctor in a while either
When I was a kid in the 80s there was a TV show about a guy who had superpowers, but he had to recharge them by staring into the sun. I wonder how many small kids hurt their eyes because of that show. It might have been a movie. I can't recall it vividly
If i take a photo of the sun using my phone, then send it using an USB cable to my Nokia phone, then print it out on a piece of paper and stare at it, will I be fine?
Bro , I've been staring at the sun in afternoon around 12.15pm for 3 to 5 mins for one week. Is there any problem with that? They say ur ratina will get damaged and you will become blind, is that true??
My dad told me that when you stare at the sun, it will help your eyes see better but after that my vision became blurry and I can't see the letters on the whiteboard at school anymore. The only way I can write is that to ask my friends to read out the words or I just peek at their books. Thanks dad.
I have a friend who looked up how long it takes to look at the sun until you become blind. He got to the conclusion that 100 seconds was the limit, so he decided that every day when it’s sunny out he’s gonna look at the sun for 99 seconds to prove that he won’t go blind. He’s a straight c student and after trying to explain to him the basic anatomy of the eyeball, he brushed me off. I think I’ll shoot him this video :)
I stare directly at the sun for long periods of time when I feel less then optimal and it always improves my feeling and mood. Never had any issues in the last 43 years. Don’t do it if you believe everything you are told or think it’s dangerous. ❤
Everyone is talking about how they had a wear glasses because of staring at the sun, as a kid I stared at it so much to see how long I could and I'm perfectly fine.

My eyes are too sensitive, a normal warm place makes my eyes itch and irritated. I have been inside my home for a long time to recover... Such a sad life.
I remember looking at the sun for roughly 30 minutes when I was a lot younger, though I think it was through dark tinted glass. Afterwards, for a minute or two it was like having an afterimage that covers your entire vision, in that the colours I saw were all messed up. I think I specifically remember seeing people with purple skin, though the colours shifted as it wore off. 10/10 experience would do it again
Ive never been able to look at the sun, the brightness forces me to look away. Last week continued staring even though at first my instinct was to look away. As I stared the brightness went away and I was left looking at the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. The colours were incredible ♥ It felt like a spiritual experience 🙏 I can’t regret it because it was so very special but I won’t do it again. I had my eyes tested a few days later and I’m told I have cataracts in both eyes. I don’t put this down to looking at the sun because my eyes have been troubling me for a long time, but I thought I just needed new glasses. Considering I have cataracts, I won’t do it again but I cherish the moment I did!
I have this thing: So when I was smaller (six or seven) I looked at the sun for too long so later had this thing that randomly just plain black took over my eyes which meant I didn't see,so I had to blink several times to see again. I still randomly get these random strikes of just plain black taking over my eyes which I have to blink away. This has happened to me when I do dangerous things such as climb down the stairs or do woodwork. Please really do not look at the sun whatsoever even with sunglasses.
staring the sun is an ancient technique that is very healthy if done in the sunrise and sunset. I stare at the sun frequently for more than a year now and it does not seem to hurt my vision at all. I wear glasses/contacts and since I began my prescription stayed stable for the first time in years of stronger prescriptions. Additionally wearing sun glasses can trick your brain into thinking it is actually not bright outside and this will never allow for your body to produce the hormones needed for melanin production which is a natural protector and good detoxifying process for the body to do. The sun does not cause cancer as the chemicals they put in those sun screen does, if you really want to protect your skin use Castor oil or Argan Oil.
@@OpiumMonkey Why should i? There's a lot of organization RECOMMENDING sunscreen The only way to get "cancer" from it is to get below the recommended SPF and go literally sunbathing

I discovered lately an year before to not to do that stuff...LOL
I remember as a child I would stare at the sun. It hurt, so I stopped like anyone with some common sense. You were too stupid to realize this. No one has to TELL you to no stare at the sun, it's more like human instinct to NOT stare at it. It seems to me you have defective genes and must be sterilized to prevent you from spreading those genes.
I stared at the sun during the transit of Venus and got mild damage to my left eye. I'm real glad that it's one eye because I can see normally and better than most people when both eyes are open. Bonus is I was growing back then so the tiny spot in my left eye is getting weaker.
I've been staring to the sun since I was a kid, so my eyes are accumulated at staring at the sun. I can only stare at the sun for 2 minutes. But I can stare on the sun for 5 minutes when the sun is rising, or setting.

Before Adam and eva committed adultery, we could stare at the sun, the sun is the balance of nature. Starring at the sun helps absorb the factor D, who is responsible for a major role in our body, but, after the sin that Adam committed, now the sun makes us blind, incredible.😅
I looked at the sun for half an hour each day when I was three because if I closed my eyes I would see colors 😬 probably why I needed glasses. Well I only stared for around 5 seconds each day, so it’s not bad
I used to think the moon was inside of the sun because the sun was always too bright for me to willingly stare at so I never looked for more than a second. But I stared through a tinted back window of my parents car and saw the circular outline and just assumed it was the moon.
I used to stare at the sun for like minutes and what I used to see that the sun changed coulours, it went from white to purple, then green, then yellow, etc. I want what causes that to happen because even after I look away, I see a purple world.
I stared at the sun when I was a kid (on a regular sunny day. Not during an eclipse) and I stared at least for more than 2-3 minutes. Though I don’t remember getting a sun burn or feeling any different although I did see after images for a few seconds. Presently I have coats disease, however I’m not sure if it’s correlated with sun gazing
Sungazing is the act of looking directly into the sun. It is sometimes done as part of a spiritual or religious practice.[1] The human eye is very sensitive, and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can lead to solar retinopathy, pterygium,[2] cataracts,[3] and often blindness.[4][5][6] Studies have shown that even when viewing a solar eclipse the eye can still be exposed to harmful levels of ultraviolet radiation.[7]
this must be for non melinated people . I practice sun meditation by looking directly at/ to my beautiful , glorious sun for as long as possible .the longest approx 6/7 . the only time i do not sun meditate is when it is a cloudy , rainy day. I practice this meditation morning , noon and night will no side effects . you get special abilities after a while. solar retinopathy must be for people with light pigmentation.

Keep in mind it is ok to look at the sun when the eclipse in in totality. But you can’t look at it even if it’s 99% blocked by the moon. It’s freaky but it’s still very bright
interesting... i have been staring at the sun for at least 5 mins a day for over 20 years now. The only thing that i have observed is center of the sun gets blacked out, and all i see is the light spilling around the dark center. ( Eclipse?) After looking away, the dark spot last for about 2 mins and my vision is back to normal. ....I have great vision, and no, i don't wear glasses.
Funny - I wound up staring at the 2017 solar eclipse, even though it only got as far as 86% coverage (of the sun by the Moon) in my region. This wasn't done in ignorance, though - up until then, I had been using a shadow box. It was also a partially cloudy day, and I was angry at the clouds for intervening... but the thin, upper-layer clouds worked as a filter and allowed me to look at the aligning disks of the sun and moon! I felt so privileged.
I remember my geography teacher. "NEVER LOOK AT THE SUN, NEVER" I remember also that one day, he was late and his excuse was : "The road was wet". Good times.

Wait, does this mean some people don't get floaters when looking through a scope? Cause when I look through a scope, I'll see a black circle sourrounding what I'm actually looking at and I'd have to position my eye so I can see through that black dot. Is this the reason?
I’m posting two years after this video was uploaded, there is a mystery with the Sun, til this day I haven’t find an answer to what happened to me years ago for starring at the Sun briefly, I got burned in my eyes, well about three years later I went to bed at nighttime of course, then I saw the same burn image in my eyes again so I tried to shake it off by shutting my eyes hard but the image remained although sharper, I did this several times until the fuzzy image became a perfect yellowish circle, I found it very strange and wondered how is this possible? The strangest part happened right after when a black dot appeared in the center of the circle and began to increase in size until a quarter of the circle, then something even more strange happened, another dot started to form in the center, and this time it was very creepy cause I was seeing through that hole another place it was a dirt road with a lot of trees on both sides about six feet tall and my eyes were flying very fast at the top of the trees and in that place was daylight........so there is a mystery with the Sun, I don’t know why that happened to me but it did happened. If anyone has any info about it, please let me know. Thanks!

I stare at the sun for 2-3 hours a day on average.I have been doing this for over 5 months now and I have 20/20 vision. Explain that?
Just stare at the sun at night. It won’t hurt your eyes as much.
When I was a kid in the 80s there was a TV show about a guy who had superpowers, but he had to recharge them by staring into the sun.
I wonder how many small kids hurt their eyes because of that show. It might have been a movie. I can't recall it vividly

The only way I can write is that to ask my friends to read out the words or I just peek at their books. Thanks dad.
How are you now?
I have a friend who looked up how long it takes to look at the sun until you become blind. He got to the conclusion that 100 seconds was the limit, so he decided that every day when it’s sunny out he’s gonna look at the sun for 99 seconds to prove that he won’t go blind. He’s a straight c student and after trying to explain to him the basic anatomy of the eyeball, he brushed me off. I think I’ll shoot him this video :)

I can’t regret it because it was so very special but I won’t do it again.
Those colours were your eyes freaking out.
I have this thing:
So when I was smaller (six or seven) I looked at the sun for too long so later had this thing that randomly just plain black took over my eyes which meant I didn't see,so I had to blink several times to see again.
I still randomly get these random strikes of just plain black taking over my eyes which I have to blink away. This has happened to me when I do dangerous things such as climb down the stairs or do woodwork.
Please really do not look at the sun whatsoever even with sunglasses.

1:19 WTF DUDE YOU RUINED MY EYE SIGHT
staring the sun is an ancient technique that is very healthy if done in the sunrise and sunset.
Is this a joke?
look it up
@@OpiumMonkey Why should i?
There's a lot of organization RECOMMENDING sunscreen
The only way to get "cancer" from it is to get below the recommended SPF and go literally sunbathing

Chuck Norris once had a starring contest with the Sun, he only lost because the Sun cheated by asking the moon to cause a solar eclipse
