- The 2008 NBA Finals were held June 5 through June 17, 2008, to decide the winner of the 2007-08 NBA season, and conclude the season's playoffs. The Boston Celtics, top-seeded champions of the Eastern Conference, defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, top-seeded champions of the Western Conference, four games to two in a best-of-seven series. This was Boston's first title since 1986 during the Larry Bird era and 17th overall.

I remember watching this game as a kid and crying so hard so happy that they won I was the only Celtic fan in my entire school at the time and forever got bullied for it and when they won I was so happy to see my team win I cried for hours and talked so much shit on Monday and hearing they won today when I was at work almost brought tears to my eyes I love the Boston Celtics to my grave!!!

This was a great team without injury the following year during the playoff, the C's would have repeated. Tears fill eyes watching this and thank you. Been a Celtic fan all my life since 1968, well when I actually started remembering seeing, watching/listening to the games with my dad. SO in retrospect, a fan since 1962! Celtics 4Life☘☘☘🏀🏀🏀

The most recent Celtics big 3 of KG, Allen and Pierce. Rondo as one of the key players along with Perkins and a good veteran bench. 2 Finals appearances (1 win) vs Lakers but the heartbreak of separation between Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce with Allen left to Miami in 2011 still left wounds to Celtic fans.
And yes, Doc Rivers was still relevant before becoming a meme a decade after.
Going back, this is the beginning of building the team around the "big 3" this century, a theme that is still re-occurring through this day until the supermax extension happened.
Doc Rivers man. Used to hate him when they beat the lakers in ‘08. After watching this, hats off to you.

This 2024 Celtics team is so similar to this one. Both teams acquired gane changing players in the off-season via trade and signed important free agents. Both dominated throughout the season as well. The team work, everyone on the same page, no one player above the team or making it about them. This year just feels different. I know this is our year. The mentality and demeanor is different from 2022 when we faced GS. The time is now and we're gonna get it done. Lets go Celtics ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

I really disagree people saying L.A was favored 2 to 1 from winning in 2008. The Celtics were the heavy favorites with Allen, Pierce and Garnett.
Boston and Dallas were the only teams to beat the Lakers during the Jackson era, Kobe playing at his prime before the 2013 Achilles tendon injury.
