i feel taylor swift fans (ME! included) get defensive when people say they don't like her is because of internalised misogyny. Defensiveness after the 2016 incident has been inbuilt into our fandom. You can tell when someone is being misogynistic and when someone is not.
Yeah, it's hard to forget all the hate & then when the full footage came out in 2020 proving that she was telling the truth, the media just went "oops".
I’m not even a taylor stan or anything but Ik I get super defensive when people hate on her just because I can’t think of one reason why someone wouldn’t like her and as someone who’s not a stan I’m looking at the surface when thinking about her so I feel like other people who are also looking from the surface have a very surface level reasoning for not liking her e.g. misogyny. Just because she’s not a yee haw alabama classic submissive housewife woman. idk maybe im being stupid
I feel like kpop fans do the same thing. Some get really defensive and say the haters are racism/xenophobic. Some definitely are but a lot are probably just not used to it or just don't like the genre in general 🤷🏼♀️
I like some of her music but i don't like the culture around her of ignoring that she did come from a lot of wealth and racial privileges.. lot of musicians who might be arguably just as talented as her, don't have that and get shut down because of discrimination and what not. But I also do think Taylor has experienced serious misoginy in this industry as well so it's complicated. Plus there's so much emphasis on her "writing her own songs from the start" like that's something a LOT of artists and bands do. Maybe not always in the mainstream but it's not as "out of the ordinary" as she makes it seems sometimes. Also her fans are getting more and more toxic lately and even some swifties agree with this
Same, I feel like many male rappers view women as something they have an ownership on, or some species they need to "discover". It's basically fetishism. A lot seem to struggle to understand the line between being sexual, expressing it, talking about relationships and stuff; and sexualisation and objectification.
i get that but a lot of female rappers do that too and a lot of male singers do that too but they’re let off cause they’re seen as less ‘hardcore’ and intimidating than rappers. when you really get into the rap genre, it’s incredible and the idea it’s all ‘gangsta rap’ or ‘misogyntisic’ i feel like is very outdated

I feel like Olivia would have still become famous without TikTok. She’s being pushed really heavily, especially by spotify. It wouldn’t have been as quick and she might not have become a ‘celebrity’ as soon as she did but I feel like it would have happened regardless. Also her musics great so that definitely helps.
Yeah, she’s literally everywhere, and her management has even been paying ads or something to promote her music more and even in Korea to promote her song they put one of her ads as the “song who’s gonna beat bts” or something like that to garner Korea’s attention and their fanbase globally, so she didn’t really need tiktok, it helped of course but she was still getting pushed by her team regardless 🤷🏻♀️

i understand that lp1 isn’t everyone’s style but personally i love the album so much and i think it’s amazing! and the target and japan bonus tracks from it are some of my fav songs ever
maybe a popular opinion? i think what’s so great about bts and kpop dominating today’s music industry is the fact that these non-western artists are proving to the rest of the world that you don’t have to speak english or be quote on quote “white” in order to gain a huge following and an enormous amount of success worldwide since music shouldnt have any barriers, being able to understand the language sung or not. i think they do good in portraying the connection fans feel when listening to their music instead of focusing on the disadvantage of not being able to fully understand the lyrics.
I'm happy that liam is finally getting to have some control over his own music now, and he said that he's coming out with a new song very soon which he wrote and is very proud of!! so honestly i'm very excited
I agree that Liam has a good voice, i really enjoy it in mitam. I don’t listen to his solo music just bc i don’t like the style but i would never say he isn’t talented
@@laurenring9721 I feel like MITAM is underrated coz people think that it's not good bcz Zayn isn't in there but in reality it is on the same spot as Four or Midnight Memories.
i have an unpopular opinion about midnight memories (album). people always give louis full credit for mm (and as they should), i love him so much and that album is a true masterpiece which he definitely deserves credit for, but people seem to forget that most of the songs were written by louis and liam TOGETHER. i see so many people on twitter talking about how mm is louis' album (which it is) but i think liam deserves the same amount of appreciation for his writing skills. he wrote almost as many 1d tracks as lou did and he just deserves more credit for it.
i think that’s mainly because liam has said himself that louis writes all the lyrics and liam just works on the melodies that go with it. he definitely deserves more credit but yeah
@@rishithag1823 He has said that he enjoys and does melodies more often but he has also said that he does lyrics to! For example he has said that he did lyrics in Better than words, no control, etc.
Madonna is called the Queen of Pop because back in the day she paved the way for many other Pop artists like Lady Gaga and also Dua Lipa. The reason people don't see her music anywhere anymore is mainly due to the ageism.
Also I think it's because she hasn't been fully immersed in the media or pop culture recently. A biopic or a movie dedicated to her discography could give her that boost in the same way ABBA and Queen were.
Madonna hasn’t aged very well however. She was at her best when she first came out with “Like a Virgin” and “Like A Prayer” came out. For me “Bitch I’m Madonna” came out a few years ago it destroyed her career. It was obviously a play on “it’s Britney bitch” but keep in mind Britney had a breakdown at the time “Gimme More” came out, not to mention Madonna is literally 62, so it just sounds desperate and weird.
8:06 100% agreed. It's sad that 5sos' talent is discredited because people assume they're a boyband just because they have a large female audience. 5sos are not a boy band, but what's wrong with boybands anyway? why do people assume that music young girls like is bad?
Because most of the boy bands are made to swoon girls they find some boys and teach them how to sing and create songs in a way that the boy band is singing to fan girls
Well…. with Liam people should listen to ‘before it ends’ and the bonus tracks that he wrote. I love LP1 so I can’t relate to people who don’t like Liam’s music, but I get that not everyone would like the same types of music. Love Liam ❤️
Bands are bands that play music. The phrase 'boy band' is a catch all alliterative term that includes most young vocal groups post 1990. Generally the phrase 'pop group' is more applicable. Usually bands that play instruments are more based in rock, hence 'Rock Band'..
i don't agree to the ariana one: yours truly: 90s rnb, bubblegum pop my everything: pop, radio-friendly, rnb dangerous woman: dark(er) pop, radio-friendly sweetener: experimental, 2000s, laid-back, happy, rnb thank u next: realness, lyrics, trap-pop positions: full rnb with pop influence if you only listen to her singles i kinda get where you come from: problem & focus sound similar side to side & god is a woman sound similar but if you discover her whole discography you will see that ariana is one of the most versatile artists of this decade...
I was a huge ariana stan (I'm not anymore) the songs on positions literally sounds the same thing from sweetener and thank u next. I wouldn't even dare to say she's one of the most versatile artist lmao.
First of all. I disagree. I have listened and reviewed her whole discography! And she isn't versatile or anything like that. I do think her sounds have evolved a bit, with every album, But like, Positions and TUN have so similiar production on a lot of the tracks. I wouldn't go to call her versatile.
Unpopular opinion: people think about kpop negatively withoit even listening to it People need to stop prejudging bts and some of their fan base, we try to protect them and stream a lot because they deserve it not because we're "bots" Bts' music is actually extremely uplifting and has beautiful lyrics which speak about some major issues and people should acknowledge that ( their debut was literally all about how disgusting society is and that people should stop being pressured and stop trying to fit into societal standards, also spring day is about a tragedy which occured in Korea where hundreds of students were told to stay in a drowning boat while no one helped them) The name of the tragedy is the sewol ferry
Adding onto the sewol ferry tragedy they were going to a picnic on jeju island but the boat couldn't hold all the weight so it started sinking and while teachers and people who were driving the boat left the children were told to stay where they were and when parents found out the boat was sinking they were not allowed to do anything and were therefore forced to watch their children die, the army and government didn't let any media inform people of what was going on and the people/media who did report about the incident were immediately fired, the government and military didn't let anyone know about the incident until days later. It's really sad what happened and I really do appreciate bts for speaking out about the incident
@@tanisperez4586 also army over-hypes everything being an army myself I have seen people liking bts music a lot but when they see army going carzy over it and give it a go they are disappointed , and tbh I feel like the music bts has suddenly released is generic though it has good intentions behind it and there are numerous faults of the management for this generic sound and army knows it, people in general aren't interested in music companies and their management poltics so if they hear songs like permission to dance despite sending a good message the song falls in generic category with bizarre lyrics. This ain't the BTS they are famous for and since army keep on streaming things without criticism , hybe keeps on giving them poor opportunities.
I actually do think Ariana’s style and sound has evolved and is constantly evolving. When you look at Dangerous Woman and compare it to albums like thank u, next and Sweetener, there’s a clear contrast. And now, with Positions, she’s tapping into an entirely new R&B sound.
yeah i think so too! i feel like her music style has maybe not evolved into something entirely new but shes definitely grown into it by trying different styles i will say the first time i listened to positions i thought some of the songs sounded kind of similar but i think the albums just really consistent with the beats and theres nothing wrong with that i mean i love every song on it
@@niamhharikasen7848 not all her albums..positions was a disappointment i would have to agree with that..sweetener was good tyn was better but positions was underwhelming and just bleh. I felt she didn't put in much compared to her other albums
@@aqsa128 i can't distinguish between any songs of positions...nothing stands out except of safety net maybe, same with tyn and sweetener. sweetener is the best album of her, it's a healing album, dangerous woman is just recycled pop that she didn't write herself for a few songs, tyn was supposed to be "personal" but completely failed, especially with 7 rings and ariana reaching the final stage of capitalism and flex-culture. she should've put more songs like ghostin, better off, etc. on her albums maybe they'd be more enjoyable then...
omg i did not expect you to answer my opinion (it was the billie eilish one), I understand what you mean by the doc being pretty raw, just something about her whole demeanor made me think that
personally I had a problem with how the people around her are not protecting her (and still aren't) she seemed like she knew what she was doing and knew what is wrong but I guess she doesn't :/
i think 1D will come back one day in the sense that they might do a final reunion tour or something many years down the line but i don't think they'll ever make new music... like i think they enjoy what they're doing as soloists too much, they're happier with their careers, choosing their own sound etc. i think one day purely for the sake of making money i could see them doing some live performances but i think at this point a full reunion is just not gonna happen (though it breaks my heart to say it, rip)
I think the thing with olivia rodrigo is that for some reason you always feel like whatever the melody is sounds like some other song that you've heard? but in reality she is just using chord progressions that were once super popular and kind of lost the hype, and she kind of brought that back. Also pop ballads are super cool to listen to. Lastly she has like an AMAZING voice and also received some hype because of her being a Swiftie. Tik tok was one of the things that amplified her success but then she is talented so eventually with or without tik tok, due to the chords and pop ballads she would have blew up anyways.
Ok so I think one direction will come back but not for like 10-20 years like I’m picturing a bohemian rhapsody movie kinda vibe but after one direction release a second movie/documentary they like all tweet saying “we’re back” and announce world tour dates Well that’s what I’m hoping to happen I definitely don’t think they’ll be coming back anytime soon tho bc they’re all working on new music and also Louis and Harry have tours coming up next year yaknow
Unpopular opinion: “Two of Us” and “Dont Let It Break Your Heart” by Louis, “Nice to Meet Ya” by Niall, “I won’t Mind” by Zayn, “Strip That Down” by Liam, and even “Sign of The Times” deserved the same promo that “Watermelon Sugar” did. Louis and Niall deserve promo in general. So many songs I can hear literally taking over the radio the same way Harry’s did, and without the video I’m convinced it wouldn’t have gone as far. But it gave my baby a Grammy and that made me cry tears I didn’t know I had. 👏
I think you can say that you don't like music of a band, but still think the music they made is great. You should just give an artist a chance before saying you can't get into their music
oh my god im the biggest julia michaels stan ever, shes so underrated, yall pls stream her new album "not in chronological order" edit: stream her ep "inner monologue pt. 1" too!!!!
But does every tiktok trending song go number 1 no i have to agree olivia success is as much talent as tiktok success. every song olivia rodrigo has written has charted that’s has to say something.
gurl i disagree with the ariana sounds mostly the same, i do agree that swt-tun-positions are similar pop rnb but debut-my everything-dw are way sooo different from each other in terms of sound.. its all in the album and the deepcuts that make the sound for me, like goodnight n go vibe in swt "cute / experimental trap", in my head in tun "bloodshed rnb", motive "classic rnb"

1D isn't coming back "No they are not" SHUSH WE DONT SAY THAT HERE THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE BUT WITH A DIFFERENT MANAGER AND THEY SRE GOING TO BE HAPPY. I didn't just turn myself into a die-hard directioner last month so I can be told they aren't coming back and I am not gonna see them live
another one: there's this weird thing happening were everyone's obsessed with teeange artists, actors, or influencers, but at the same time, everyone hates them
omg i know what you meant with the whole boy band argument but .. as a person who used to be obsessed queen i would ABSOLUTELY call them a boy band, esp in the 70s lmao
If you are the type to complain about todays music, you are not a true listener of music, instead of finding new artists that are very gifted, you rely on whatever is trending, I have found so much artists way better than most trending artists. Example: “Everyone on planet earth, this one’s for you, let’s rock”, by The Pablo Collective. Give it a listen
I also love Nickelback. “Far Away” is a true love story, “Lullaby” is perfect for depression, and “Photograph” is actually a well written autobiography. Honestly meme culture ruined them, I remember everyone loved them back in 2000… or maybe that was a fever dream. I do love that vine though 😂
10:06 yep. A lot of people are brave enough to judge bts based by nothing?? Or just the two english songs they‘ve listened to aka dynamite and butter. Their korean songs are sooo worth listening to and the lyrics are beautiful!! They‘re AMAZING performers and they‘re also really down to earth, funny and talented ppl

4:39 - see the ONLY thing that i have to disagree in this entire video is this. if they aren’t i feel like something would’ve been said like “hey, we decided we’re actually not getting back together” and then i’d believe they arent because well.. duh. but louis promised (idc if it’s corny) and i’m holding to that promise until someone says no more :,)
Hi, in my opinion, It also might be a marketing choice to not say they are not coming back, because it'll make us hold onto them desperately, so they gain more money (i'm not talking about the boys gaining money, but the companies behind, as they were made to be together for commercial purpose un the first place). Talking about Louis, I think they might get together for a one time reunion, something occasional like that, but i've let go of the idea of them coming back as a band a while ago. And, I wouldn't want them to come back under the previous conditions, i'd rather have them happy and solo than burned out, etc.
@@aurum737 you know what, i completely agree. i wouldn’t want them to come back under the same management because of what happened last time and i feel like it would just make things worse. i really do hope they come back, (under different management hopefully) but if they don’t that’s completely understandable and i’m not holding anything against any of them because well.. there’s no reason to. but yeah, i agree with you
I think they will at some point but like a friends reunion but sadly if they came back as a band they most likely have syco but maybe if Simon left syco then manager will be more ok?
Personally I think a lot of popular music and culture is being white washed. Also you should stop shaming people for liking boy/girl bands!! It’s ok to like them!! I’m not ~*below*~ you for liking one direction!!
I think in the recent years music and many other things became too black and white, or like the opinions of people, when there vare so many grey areas. Everyone is entitled to their own, but especially on the topic about artists, we really forget, that they're just human people like us and make mistakes. There are things, that can't be excused or forgiven, absolutely, but not EVERYTHING and EVERY TIME. I always see things like you either like or hate something/someone, if you support the art then you support the artist , they're either underrated or overrated, pop or indie, rap or rock, are you alternative or basic, female or male artists, western(USA/England) music or music from other countries, are you listening to the lyrics or not...?! It's not that simple and it doesnt have to be so "controversial" all the time idk 🤷♀️

I tried bts song and is actually really good! But I could NEVER be apart of the fandom because they're so agressive! And I just don't want to be associated with this fandom. But bts is actually good
truthhh i also feel like 1d fans had this weird rivalry almost for a long time (myself included sadly) but when you start listening to their music its honestly so good!!

@@isavieira3268 coming from a former directioner, i feel like there’s a common misconception that makes people believe army is a very intense group of individuals, however, army is actually very welcoming and only become protective when it comes to defending bts, who have gone through so much shit to get to where they are now and because of the prejudice they face for being asian or for being idols on the daily. the relationship the fandom has within itself and with bts in general is one i’ve never seen before. the authenticity is so real and you feel so loved as an army by bts and by our own fandom. you’re never content deprived and the label makes sure the creativity always keeps you up on your feet so as a former directioner, i can safely assure you becoming part of army is one of the best decisions i have ever done along with stanning bts. you don’t have to become part of army, however, the best thing you can do as someone who doesn’t stan bts is to remain respectful of us and of them!

i have an unpopular opinion about midnight memories (album). people always give louis full credit for mm (and as they should), i love him so much and that album is a true masterpiece which he definitely deserves credit for, but people seem to forget that most of the songs were written by louis and liam TOGETHER. i see so many people on twitter talking about how mm is louis' album (which it is) but i think liam deserves the same amount of appreciation for his writing skills. he wrote almost as many 1d tracks as lou did and he just deserves more credit for it.
i think that’s mainly because liam has said himself that louis writes all the lyrics and liam just works on the melodies that go with it. he definitely deserves more credit but yeah
That's cos he himself said that he mostly worked on tunes and louis did most of the writing :)

@@liloandstitcbedtogether8954 Madonna was at her peak during her 90s. Who cares if she makes “bitch im Madonna.”

EXACTLY. they’re incredibly talented and they get dissed because they have a teen audience which so happens to be mainly females
Because most of the boy bands are made to swoon girls they find some boys and teach them how to sing and create songs in a way that the boy band is singing to fan girls

“You wouldn’t call Queen a boyband” lol imagine that))))
Bands are bands that play music.
The phrase 'boy band' is a catch all alliterative term that includes most young vocal groups post 1990. Generally the phrase 'pop group' is more applicable. Usually bands that play instruments are more based in rock, hence 'Rock Band'..
i don't agree to the ariana one:
yours truly: 90s rnb, bubblegum pop
my everything: pop, radio-friendly, rnb
dangerous woman: dark(er) pop, radio-friendly
sweetener: experimental, 2000s, laid-back, happy, rnb
thank u next: realness, lyrics, trap-pop
positions: full rnb with pop influence
if you only listen to her singles i kinda get where you come from:
problem & focus sound similar
side to side & god is a woman sound similar
but if you discover her whole discography you will see that ariana is one of the most versatile artists of this decade...
I agree. I find it annoying when people judge an artist's whole discography when they only listen to singles.
I was a huge ariana stan (I'm not anymore) the songs on positions literally sounds the same thing from sweetener and thank u next. I wouldn't even dare to say she's one of the most versatile artist lmao.
If you want versatility then then you should look at Taylor Swift. She’s tried out many different genres while still maintaining her own unique sound.
First of all. I disagree. I have listened and reviewed her whole discography! And she isn't versatile or anything like that.
I do think her sounds have evolved a bit, with every album, But like, Positions and TUN have so similiar production on a lot of the tracks. I wouldn't go to call her versatile.

Unpopular opinion: people think about kpop negatively withoit even listening to it
People need to stop prejudging bts and some of their fan base, we try to protect them and stream a lot because they deserve it not because we're "bots"
Bts' music is actually extremely uplifting and has beautiful lyrics which speak about some major issues and people should acknowledge that ( their debut was literally all about how disgusting society is and that people should stop being pressured and stop trying to fit into societal standards, also spring day is about a tragedy which occured in Korea where hundreds of students were told to stay in a drowning boat while no one helped them) The name of the tragedy is the sewol ferry
I actually do think Ariana’s style and sound has evolved and is constantly evolving. When you look at Dangerous Woman and compare it to albums like thank u, next and Sweetener, there’s a clear contrast. And now, with Positions, she’s tapping into an entirely new R&B sound.
yeah i think so too! i feel like her music style has maybe not evolved into something entirely new but shes definitely grown into it by trying different styles i will say the first time i listened to positions i thought some of the songs sounded kind of similar but i think the albums just really consistent with the beats and theres nothing wrong with that i mean i love every song on it
yeah but the songs on her albums sound all the same
Maybe sweetener to thankyou next..but i feel like she needs to get out of trap. She's been stuck there since tyn.

i think 1D will come back one day in the sense that they might do a final reunion tour or something many years down the line but i don't think they'll ever make new music... like i think they enjoy what they're doing as soloists too much, they're happier with their careers, choosing their own sound etc. i think one day purely for the sake of making money i could see them doing some live performances but i think at this point a full reunion is just not gonna happen (though it breaks my heart to say it, rip)

Ok so I think one direction will come back but not for like 10-20 years like I’m picturing a bohemian rhapsody movie kinda vibe but after one direction release a second movie/documentary they like all tweet saying “we’re back” and announce world tour dates
Well that’s what I’m hoping to happen
I definitely don’t think they’ll be coming back anytime soon tho bc they’re all working on new music and also Louis and Harry have tours coming up next year yaknow
No no more tours. That’s essentially what broke them.

Louis and Niall deserve promo in general. So many songs I can hear literally taking over the radio the same way Harry’s did, and without the video I’m convinced it wouldn’t have gone as far. But it gave my baby a Grammy and that made me cry tears I didn’t know I had. 👏
